- In this episode, we island hop our way around the San Blas Islands, Panama. We go for many freedives and see everything from beautiful coral to sharks. after celebrating Gary's birthday we sail to a new spot and then go on a wild dinghy adventure in the jungle!

I remember Gary's birthday last year when you almost slipped up and showed us what was #1 on his birthday list. But we all KNOW what that was and was happy to know I was not the only one who gets the same thing on my birthday by my equally as beautiful wife. I hope he didn't have to go snorkeling without his yearly!!

Nice to see that SVZingaro and Sailing into freedom invited you to the beach. And I am glad that you cooked the rest of the snapper as well. I see you have the same problem as me with the Suzuki outboard coming loose and spinning. I tried tightening the bolts underneath.

@@SailingOneLife My Suzuki has a bit of a hard time starting by pulling the chord, but starts right up on the elec starter. Love the super low fuel consumption.

Kevin, we are by Dog Island but we are sailing to Linton Bay soon to pick up friends and then we will be back in the area.

Nice to have a cruiser book about Panama. What charts do you use? Do you use openCPN?
We do not have openCPN. The guide book we used for here was Eric Bauhaus and the charts we have on our chartplotter our by Garmin. We also use Navionics on our tablet and phones as a secondary source.

Thanks, Vic! Definitely a great way to spend a birthday. We appreciate your comment, there is so much of a fish that goes to waste when only the fillets are used. We never really thought about it when living on land but we've learned that some of the best meat is in the head so we try to take full advantage! 🍻🤙
What have you connected your hammocks to on deck?
Clip one end to a pole mast fitting, other end gets lifted up with a halyard and downhauled to a bow cleat. Occasionally we will hang it from the boom and swing it out over the water but thats a lot more work!

Are the caiman in the San Blas area aggressive?
We have heard the crocodiles occasionally attack animals and people. We saw some of the Guna pick up their dog from alongside the river shore. Definitely need to respect their territory
Gary turned 35 how old are you Brooke ? My youngest daughter is 56 and oldest 59 talking about retirement next year after thirty plus years teaching in California.
This video was a couple years ago now but I am 5 months older than Gary!
