    Onelife i like your adventures. Brooke I've noticed that your nose is sunburned a lot, especially after snorkeling. My wife had the same issue and ended up with skin cancer. She's ok now but nerve-wracking at the time. Use a strong SPF on your nose to protect it. Off my soap box. Happy sailing!!!!

    There is no question that a centreline jackline is a lot safer than sidedeck jacklines. As recent tragedies have shown with dragging events and sidedeck jacklines are much less safe than centreline jacklines and, at worst, perhaps more dangerous than no jacklines at all, since they confer a false sense of security.

    • @SailingOneLife
      @SailingOneLife  Před 2 lety

      No argument here... Unfortunately the center cockpit and staysail sheeting arrangement on One Life dictates sidedeck jacklines. Our vests have line cutters, and we always clip in to the windward line. Aware of the risks, we make the decision to clip in or not each time we go forward

    • @gandoka66
      @gandoka66 Před rokem

      @@SailingOneLife Locally they're called "Jureles", great fun to catch, not so good to eat. They're more like Jacks than Bonitos. Bonitos are much better to eat. Jacks are darker meat. They usually get used as stew or broth. Try to get pink lures, preferably pink squid type lures. You´ll be catching tuna, mahi mahi, barracuda, mackerel. Make sure you have a steel leader. IF you hook up a Mahi Mahi, keep that first one in the water, close to the boat, take a second rod, with a surface lure and cast it maybe twenty feet off the transom and have fun catching the mahi mahis that will be trailing the first one still in the water. ( I live in Costa Rica and am a die hard sports fisherman ) Tight lines, and full sails! While in this area of the Pacific, keep an eye out for Shiloh, Cabo Rico Tiburon, 36 (currently in Vallarta, Mx.)...maybe we can meet and have a beer!
