Hey linh, thanks so much for this video. Ive never felt more empowered by a makeup video. As a 26 yo 2nd gen Viet in australia, I've had a lot of insecurities that I still struggle with from family expectations etc and was really turned off the whole online makeup culture and always felt like it was something that actually negatively impacted me and made me feel worse about myself since I felt like I had to change what I naturally look like. thank you so much for so many things in this video - celebrating the fact that you like yourself with and without makeup and reminding me that that's what really matters, that makeup can be fun and creative and can work to enhance my natural Viet features instead of masking them. I genuinely got so many warm fuzzy feelings from this video and so excited to just explore makeup and playing dress up with my avatar with a sense of play and fun instead of self judgement, self criticism and negativity

Yo!!! I loved this! Figured I’d share my lil makeup story with you, I really related with some parts of yours ^^
I’m very much multiracial, but I would say my eyes are very much like yours as I’m partially Filipino. With that being said, the rest of my family is Mexican and all my life I went to schools where there would maybe be 5 other Asian students (I was the only Filipino in my grade for all of middle and high school) in my grade so that meant nobody really looked like me and I never got inspiration for what my makeup could look like. I always tried doing makeup tutorials on CZcams but it never clicked to me that the styles were often so Eurocentric! It looked amazing on them but when I would try them on myself… eep. I’ve been trying to find tutorials from artists that look more like me especially for eyeshadow and I loved your look, especially “douyin” style makeup. I will definitely have to try the eyeshadow liner and nose-to-outer eye trick. I also love that you highlighted your aegyo-sal, it’s nice to see someone else who does it, but I like way more how you did it with a gel liner (I’ve only used eyeshadow and my finger jaja).

It all started when I shifted to new school after my middle school and in high school I didn't have any friends and am a introvert so it was really hard after that in grade 10 my depression started as my teacher's were so mean and started comparing very badly then i stopped gng to school and started studying from home then pandemic happened i gave my exams too and when I went to school to pick my documents one teacher she said to my mom if pandemic didn't happened ur we don't know what might ur daughters situation its so cruel and next I joined 11th and all was going great and in 12th 2021 something happened it really makes me sad till now my dad passed away it was so sudden and this time i really went into depression and never really came out of it then my health got affected and i didn't gave my exams and next time when i was ready to give i had a head injury i slipped in washroom and all teachers started again taunting me that i dont have interest in studies which is fucking flase i also was a above average student and topper sometimes and this i took my gap year and even though last year got wasted due to my health issues i don't care i neeed therapy i need time for my mental health and the best happened is before this all happened my goals were just studying and getting job its great but my confidence was not and now i really feel so overwhelmed when i think about my confidence level up and how i finded my passion for music that i wrote almost 15 20 songs i camt even believe content creation and painting and many others and in 2024 am going to uni/clg but am still confused not confused but alil bit hesitation regarding what course i need to take am a science student but as now i have passion over diff things o can make carrier out of it in future but theres a question if not then thats y am thinking of going to clg if my passion wont work i can take up job and follow my passion so plz if anyone is interested please suggest me some courses i had few interests though

ugh linh i can relate so much to the whole glasses-makeup thing. i think i started having to wear glasses when i was about 15? coincidentally around the age when i became obsessed with makeup as a creative outlet. the problem was i could never wear glasses because it would cover up the art on my face! now at 23 i barely do creative makeup at all, because i can't seem to get the glasses to work well with it. when i do a look for an occasion, someone else has to drive so that i can get there and take pics before putting my glasses on! i still feel prettier without them (but cannot for the life of me make contacts work). are there any artists in particular that have helped you by demonstrating pretty makeup that works with glasses? i would even love to see some tutorials from you!

thank you for masking at your school, i go to a smaller more diverse commuter school so luckily there's still a fair amount of people masking but the majority of teachers and students don't mask anymore and its very scary to have to expose myself as a sick immunocompromised person every week

I'm just making a small break during the "you get more compliments when you look fem when you just want to be called handsome" because, so true. which is so annoying because when i wear certain things that are not masc but could be read more fem, although I don't feel like wearing them in a fem way , and when I get compliments from certain persons who never compliment me for my more masc presenting, those things can start to create not exactly gender dysphoria but at least gender discomfort.
for example, I wore a flower crown / headband at a party the other day, in a Stray Kids inspired soft boy look, at least that was my goal, not sure if I succeded, and it was lended to me from someone at work, so I tried it on at work, and got compliments about how it suited me, which was true, but I was afraid they would see it, and me, in a fem way, and not in the soft boy way I was trying to achieve. I still felt great about the flower crown, but the same thing cannot be told about my sunglasses which I feel weird about now.
Experimenting is really really fun, but yeah, sometimes the balance is thrown off by "only fem perceived" compliments.
