Naturally aspirated Toyota V6 3.5L and the 4 cyl. 2.5 L. Change the oil every 5,000 miles (ignore the 10K interval marketing hype) and you have a vehicle that will take you 300K +.
Hondas the same .....infact, I've had older fords tha went that far before i sld them.
If they still use timing belts, get them replaced on time.
I have a 2012 ES 350. It says 5w30 conventional can be used. That's what I use. Every 5000 miles. The 2GRFE is a good engine.
@@ken2tou The 1MZ-FE, 3MZ-FE, and 1UZ-FE engines use timing belts and they are one of the easiest timing belts to change. However, dry timing belts are much better than wet timing belts and if the belt breaks on it just a tow and a timing belt replacement is all it needs. The 1MZ-FE and 3MZ-FE are very solid but, they do have issues with sludge buildup, and I would highly recommend full synthetic on 1MZ-FE and 3MZ-FE engines to render it a non-issue.
Information right on! Thanks for sharing. Keeping my 2010 IS350, 200K miles, and only half of the engine life used.
Life’s too short to drive cars with garbage engines!
Amen.
Yea yea, absolutely, great engines make great cars
I have a 99 Honda crv. The original engine went to 301k miles. This second engine has taken the odometer to 325k I believe it is now. Same transmission. Of course I've changed several parts as the car has aged, but that car has brought me all over this country and I plan to drive it a thousand plus miles into Canada and back to the US.
proud member of the 2GR club checking in
We love you Mark! Thanks for another great video. Happy motoring.
Thanks so much and I hope you are having an awesome weekend
Love my 07 Lexus ES350. The 2GR-FE is bulletproof 💯
Yes
they even have it on LOTUS Evora 😊as well
Great video, I agree with most of the choices. I am looking into a civic coupe LX , manual 2.0 is the way to go !
I had my Lexus RC 350 F-Sport AWD for 6 years. No issues what so ever. I took care of it. Mobile 1 0w-20 oil, changed the brake pads once, and bought one set of tires. My most reliable car ever. Sadly I sold it and I miss it.
What are you driving now?
How many clicks did u have in 6 years?
My 2002 Lexus ES300 has the 1MZ it’s ultra reliable. Mine has 177k miles and now that I switched to Pennzoil high mileage synthetic (switched from the non-high mileage) I don’t burn any oil between 5k mile oil changes.
There’s one on YT posted 4 years ago that had 596k highway miles with original Engine.
Too bad new gm is junk
@@michaelqu from what I remember he bought it for 3k from a customer who’s parents past away and it only had about only 30k miles. Steal of a lifetime ! I bought mine in April 2021 for $4,500 with 160k miles from a dealer. Still worth every penny. My car is paid off which is even better. Within the first year I did have to replace some 20 year original parts: alternator, starter and struts (rears started leaking) and AC compressor (worked but was squealing). Will be doing my timing belt, water pump next year. Shifts smooth and everything in the interior still works like new
@@michaelqu yes I’m aware it’s a non-interference engine but I don’t want to be stranded on the road when and if the belt breaks.
❤“LS” reliability and performance. Thank you Mark 🇨🇦 have a great weekend !!!
Right on, hope you also have a great weekend
Another Great video Mark! No bones to pick on you this time 😄
Haha, thanks for watching
I had a Acura 3.0 CL with over 250k when I traded it, still ran great, I was just ready for a new vehicle. Needed a truck. Had a Accord with over 300k and a 91 Toyota pickup, got it from my dad, now my sister has it. It’s in the 400k area now. Have a Ranger and a CRV with the 1.5 now, I guess that remains to be seen.
True just do the maintenance reliabiously and it should be OK
Love this kind of content! Could you do a series on most reliable performance v8s, v6 , and four cylinders?
Thanks and I am sure we could get that done
No need for a new series on the most reliable V8 or V6..... it's ALL Toyota
@@Aikynbreusov this is true! But It would be nice if there was some reliable euro offerings
I love that 4.6l v8 engine in my GX460... it requires 9 quarts of 0w-20 oil, but it's well worth it....🥰🥰🥰🥰🥰
Totally agree!
9 quarts, my Volvo with a D13 takes 32, wanna switch? 😳🧐🤨😊
I'm very surprised the Ford 4.6 wasn't mentioned, I have heard Many stories of them reaching over 600 thousand miles before giving up the ghost.
I drive my 2012 Honda Civic everyday. 187000 miles on it. It’s a auto but I’ve got no problems with except the Air Conditioner compressor needs replaced right now. I’ll get it done next month other than that it’s awesome
I like Toyota engines. Worry free motoring.
No issues
They are solid and ungodly reliable. Toyota makes great motas lol
Toyota 5.7 V8, probably the most reliable V8 ever made.
Either that or the 5.3 Vortec
The best engines that I've had Mark were Toyota's. I do wonder if their new ones will be able to stand the test of time?
Time will tell with electric water pumps and newer tech
Hondas are just as good.and toyotas quality has dropped.
@@richsweeney1115 depends on which Toyota model same as Honda and their dreaded 1.5 turbo
@@moeanthony9308 I'm not big on 1.5s with a turbo, so I wou buy one. Of I was looking for a car,it'd probably be a 5 or 6 spd standard tranny ford or honda without a turbo. I dnt even like automatics, I really ,really don't like CVTs
Dude you've got to fix all of that wind noise!
I believe the BMW B58 is one of the best engine in terms of performance to reliability ratio. This is why I bought a 2021 Toyota Supra 3.0. great video
i wana 340 because of this engine. miss having a bmw and an in-line 6 in my life
Thanks for sharing
A way to clean particulate filters on one Diesel car . Is to throttle 3000 revolutions for 15 minutes. and there is probably also an additive to buy in the USA that helps the car to clean the particle filter. You are pouring it into diesel in the tank
With that 4.6 keep an eye out for valley plate coolant leaks...it was an issue with some of their v8s-even the one in the IS-F. the factory sealant tends to wear out and allows coolant into the vee of the block. Around a $800-1500 job depending on where you get it done. Maybe more these days-mine was done on my IS-F before pandemic prices for about $1000. Besides that, the 4.6s 5.0s and 5.7s are great engines!
Yes that’s true
My 3UZ from my LS430 has never been to the mechanic. Oil change every 4k and they keep going.
Thanks for sharing
What year and how many miles
Wish I bought one before they doubled in value
I have the best of both worlds 🌎 a
2001 Honda S2000 and the new Toyota Prius Limited AWD edition, love the reliability.
S2000 👏👍
@@zsb707 thank you! 😊
You get a like only for the S2K. 💪🏻
You put a lot of outstanding research into this video I found it to be very helpful I’m sharing it with family and friends
This video is 10 stars out of five stars
🌟🌟🌟🌟🌟🌟🌟🌟🌟🌟
My best wishes always from Las Vegas Craíg 😊🎉
I noticed you featured a couple of manual cars can't beat a manual fir reliability and of course a couple of Lexuses
Phenomenal record!
Love the Toyota family.
How has the B-58 holding up in the BMW and various Toyotas?
Hey Thomas yes Toyota and Lexus have a great record and very few misses. The B58 is still showing to be better than all turbo engines before with better fueling and heat encapsulating means temp swings in the engine bay are not as dramatic. Closed deck design for cooling also reduces chances of head gasket issues and bottom end is beefier. One issue with electric water pumps goi g on previous engines is going here as they went mechanical so even if they fail, they are less costly and generally longer lasting. Still might see some oil filter housing gasket leaks or pan and valve cover leaks with age and mikes but a better sorted engine all the way around. A much safer bet than most before it.
The B58 is holding up in Toyota and BMW but there is still a lot of plastic so time will likely not be kind there either.
Yes the LS460 is possibly 1million km engine but the airsuspension typical needs to be replaced with coilovers! But LS400 is the king of reliability. I have seen over 1 million kms!
You missed one of the most reliable engines ever. The mid 2000’s Honda CRV with the 2.4 liter 4 cylinder engine. This engine has made that CRV known for being one of the best used cars to buy. No rot, solid engine and transmission, very useful design. Overall a great car!
Great point!
@@ECPP just wanted to thank you for your content. I always enjoy your videos and insights into cars. Your videos in part convinced me not to get a V8 X5 and instead get the B58 straight six. Thanks!
Newer Lexus will breakdown easily because of the electronic and technologically high tech. And the parts are not the cheaper anymore. But if you talk about a used. That’s fairly reliable and fairly comfortable mind. The newer one it will breakdown as possible. I was doing an accident on my old 2013 Chevy Trailblazer made in Bangkok. And I fixed over 1700$. By the Lexus accident you will pay over 5000 or 6000 dollars.
A used one is a better choice than new one.
Great points and thanks for sharing
Hinda fixed the oil dilution.....and if youn have one, use the GF6 oil, it also stops oil dilution...and itll still run along time.
I had a 2008 Acura mdx last me 250k miles and sold it for 8k never had a issue !
That’s a great run
The old Hyundai's Beta II 2-liter engines were bulletproof also.
Well….
hi mr pls tell me about kia picanto 1.0 Chevrolet spark 1.2 special the small engine cars kwid and also race pls 🙏 🇿🇦🇿🇦
Sweet jesus! The camera moving its like a roller coaster.
Future video idea: 5 most trusted batteries that will NOT last forever ;-0
I had a 1990 eagle talon tsi red and black. Wish I still had it.
They were fun in their day
Toyota V6 ( 2GR-FE ), same engine on LOTUS Evora 👍
Great engines
Your one of my favourite CZcamsrs
Thank you so much. Hope your week is going great.
I love all your the cars in this video
Thanks for watching
I hear the oil dilution on the turbo hondas go away by changing the oil to gf6...
I've driven my 2012 Focus 2 liter for over 475,000 without any service except oil changes I do myself. toyota isnt the only good engine
The AMC straight-6 4.0 is a legend.
Well
Wow you missed the LS next to the gx that has the U engine also.
Great grab for sure
Which year Mitsubishis have that engine?
Nobody ever mentions the gs350 I have a 2010 gs350 . Solid!
Very solid
Because it's dead LOL. And I say this as a very happy owner of a 2013 GS. Sad it was discontinued but the sales just were not there, and Toyota gave up on the GS halfway after 2013, and all the way after 2016.
I was thinking about getting a supra either 2.0 or 3.0 litres but I am undecided on whether the BMW engines are worth the risk.
It is a risk but these b48 and b58 engines are much better than older drivetrains
A Corvette won't Rust? The Frames rot out!
That LS motor will last forever but the rest of the car will rot out around it.
Haha fair
My Cadillac is rotting out hopefully I get a few mores years before I let my baby go GM buys their metal from China
The Mitsubishi surprises me. All the others are proven winners.
I agree on the mitsu but the specific Ray grade engine is more durable, the others are throw away
My vote is for 2 no Lexus engines: 1. 242 engine Jeep 4.0 in line 6. 2. Mercedes Benz V8 m119
In Sweden, that choice probably doesn't exist because for this you have to inspect the car once a year and one of the things that is tested is the emission from the exhaust pipe. if the car is originally equipped with a particle filter, it is probably not allowed to remove it. There is probably also an additive to buy in the USA that helps the car to clean the particle filter. Here in Sweden, such a product can be called diesel booster. It also raises the cetane content. here in Sweden we also have a fossil-free diesel called HVO 100. with it, there is much less soot. otherwise it is the case that the regular diesel in Sweden is mainly mixed with biodiesel it can be as much as 40% the cetane value is according to information At least 51 or if it was 50. but you can also find diesel that has a cetane value as high as 58 now I'm not talking about HVO100 They can be at 70
Chrysler Slant 6. Saw many of them go beyond 500,000 miles
Nice
Life is too short to drive cars that last forever😊
True, totally true
460 is it not easy when it comes to maintenance and it costs a lot of money. 430,300,350, or even the 470/460 way better!
Nice
I have Volvo v90 d3 almost 300 k Miles No problem
That’s a great run. No big issues?
No nothing just cleaning the intake it was à lot Off smoke from disel after that it run better i mean more power
2GR-FE is pretty much bulletproof. The Honda 1.5 Turbo 4 is a very frail engine and almost as bad as the GM Ecotech 1.5 and 1.4 turbo engines. Honda 1.6, 1.5, 1.7, 2.0, 2.4, 3.2, and 3.5 naturally aspirated engines are quite robust even the 2.0 turbos are quite reliable.
I know you had to slim the list down, but how in the hell is the Honda K24 not on the list? It's at least the equal to Toyota's 3.5.
Nice
Gm 3800
yes not too shabby
What About the rx330
Well…..
NOT the new turbocharged Toyota 4 cylinders
Time will tell and I would like to learn more a out them
Im surprised you didn't mention hondas 3.5 liter engines those are bullet proof to!!!!
They are great too
Boxer- 2.7L Flat 6 ??
IMS
Don't forget the Tesla Y/3/X/S that have had there gearbox inspected at 500,000miles in the US (804,672Km) with little to no signs of wear (fleet rentals that run from LA to Vegas, lots of people are afraid to fly) Done with no gearbox fluid change (maintenance free motor/gearbox) there's no transmission FYI. How about them apples lol. That's why the Tesla Y is the top selling vehicle in the world right now. Not Toyota, Tesla
Back home?
How can a 2020 be on this list?
Well
Honda makes the best engine in the world!
Hondas are just as good as toyoa and lexus.....my accord had about 370k when it gt rearended..my civic has almost 300k. Im so tired of seeing people drool over toyotas....toyota isn't the only good brand. Infact, the quality has dropped on new ones...Mitsubishis tend to burn oil whe theyre older. Myfords have all gone well over 200k before i sold them, and never had a major issue.
Yep😢 then Nissan bought Mitsubishi and killed the Evo
Yikes
The most trusted engine that will also last is the 3800 (3.8 L) V6 engine from General Motors.
No, LS engines are not THAT reliable. People LS swap because they are cheap. They are prone to lifter and oil pressure issues to name a couple.
Stop smacking your camera
Your video made me motion sick
Why?
Reliable, dependable forced induction? No such animal! They don't belong in this video...
