Haaaa! I had an old Bird lock similar to that one on my office door done years back. And yes mine was almost as easy to open.

When I moved into my house there was a similar Bird rim lock on the front door. After I immediately swapped it out for a much better lock, I tried picking it and I too found that it raked open almost instantly... fairly terrifying!

I find your videos and introduction so relaxing. Great content and wonderful back catalogue. Ps, I just picked up three grubby used locks for £5. I covered them in Heinz tomato sauce and left them for an hour, washed them off with an old toothbrush and they came up like new.

It's a full YALE knock-off, same tailpiece clip, slide it sideways. the real locks are ok.
Have a great day, I have several real Yale's with the core's rear end all snapped off.

The first lock I ever picked was a particularly poorly-made Chinese transparent training lock. If I tensioned the core, I could stick another tensioner, a skewer, even a toothpick in and it would instantly spring open. It was still harder to open than that thing!😂
It looks like they just threw in 5 identical uncut keypins, then inserted a randomly cut key and filed them flush. 😯

@RoySammons sent me one of these, it was his old office door lock 😂 and he said turn it into a Challenge Lock. Which I did. Took me ages, very difficult to make it harder. It's doing the rounds and it's called #EasyBird - How quickly can you open it?
