LORE - Warcraft Lore in a Minute!
Sargeras, a Titan entrusted with protecting the universe, spent countless millennia battling demons from the Twisting Nether. As eons passed, Sargeras became corrupted by the very demons he destroyed. Having refused the Titans' vision of an ordered universe, Sargeras left their ranks and resolved to undo all their work. He released the demons he imprisoned and recruited Kil'Jaeden the Deceiver to raise an army, and Archimonde the Defiler to lead his invasion. And with that, he set upon a Burning Crusade throughout the universe.
Sargeras grew attracted to the Well of Eternity, the heart of Azeroth's magical and natural power, thus setting in motion the plans for his next invasion. Queen Azshara of the elven people fell victim to Sargeras' undeniable power and agreed to summon him and his army into the world through the Well of Eternity. Malfurion Stormrage and his allies, with no other choice, destroyed the Well of Eternity, causing the Great Sundering that split Kalimdor into 4. Still, Sargeras would not be denied.
Aegwynn, a Guardian appointed to combat the Burning Legion, is drawn to a demonic presence in Northrend. There she encounters and defeats the avatar of Sargeras and casts his body to the depths of the ocean. Unbeknownst to her, Sargeras transferred his spirit into her body where he would lie dormant for many years.
Aegwynn later gave birth to a son who she would name Medivh. Both her power and the sinister spirit of Sargeras were passed down, during which Sargeras made his final plans for his second invasion. Medivh's terrible powers begin take hold of his body and mind, and he would begin constructing the Dark Portal. Meanwhile, Kil'Jaeden had successfully enslaved and empowered the Orcish clans of Draenor, setting the stage for a war that would change Azeroth forever.
Have fun!

0:50 i love how you made pandaria panda shaped.
just like the WWF
CITIZENS OF DALARAN, WHERES THE PART WHERE I GET TO SAY CITIZENS OF DALARAN?
+Rhonin, Leader of the Kirin Tor Give it time Rhonin.., Give it time
Go home, Rhonin, you are dead.
+Yecowa Shut up, that moment was sad for me... D;
***** you know what Rhonin and Krasus have in common now? >:D
*****
No...
The panda-Head shaped Pandaria is so Awesome xD
Feels so good to hear Warcraft 2 music as opening!!!!!
It was my very first PC game. I was in love with WarCraft lore, until the WoW expansions after Cataclysm came along and ruined my entire childhood.
how dare they not mention JARAXXAS, EREDAR LORD OF THE BURNING LEGION!?
***** who?? XD?? jk
+d123s404 Jaraxxus you mean ..?
+d123s404 Aint nobody got time for that!
Simon Huus Kristensen Yeah, now that's more like it.
INFERNO!
LOL, Pandaria is shaped like a panda, I'm done! XD
Like if you want blizzard to re-release Warcraft 1-3 in remastered HD for XBOX ONE, PS4 and Other Consoles including PC and Mac. Or is it just me.
They will at some point.
There is a reason why there aren't almost any RTS' on consoles, how do you think you would controll your army? By pressing X? ...
HALO20601 The Warcraft franchise would never work on consoles, ever.
TheSanityX
well even if it doesn't get put on consoles, they should still remake it for PC and Mac.
HALO20601 I totally agree.
This was excellent. Well done on the shape of the southern continent:)
A minor correction cause I'm a lifeless nerd who has nothing better to do:
Azeroth's continents never moved away from each other when the Sundering occurred. The explosion simply destroyed the land and the oceans filled it in. Kalimdor (the super continent) lost 80% of its land.
No you're not right. The continents really do moved away.
KoraxProductions Nope. Page 12 on the Ultimate Visual Guide of WoW, a canon resource directly from Blizzard, states that Kalimdor lost 80% of its land. The original landmass, dubbed Kalimdor by the Titans, consisted of the existing continents and all the land in between.
***** I just gave you the source, buddy. Check for yourself.
Loosing 80% of landmass doesn't imply that the remaining rest didn't moved away,
+KoraxProductions that literally makes no sense, if they were moving away after losing that much landmass they would be much MUCH farther away. also in order for them to move it would require there be a fault line in the center pushing them all away (which would have destroyed the continent long before the explosion did) and judging by the fact that the central rock formations around the vortex are still intact that would mean no such fault exists. never argue with a man who is able to state an official scource, 9 time out of 10 he knows what he's talking about.
I'd rather have this in 3 minutes but fucking UNDERSTANDABLE.
Set speed to 0.5 to match your BRAIN POWER
this is a pretty good response
I like how now this basically sums up the build up and the events of a certain movie
The moment I saw "Warcraft Lore" I knew it was going to be voiced by Jesse Cox!
this lore could last an hour....
you sure? the defias ( bunch of human rebels you fight till you get to lvl 19 ) lore takes up 24 mins
naglis autukas
We're not talking about that one.
Only one hour?
pfff noob
whole WarCraft lore can last weeks (and not taking shitty MMO lore)
0:53 Look at the bottom colony o3o.
Sargeras opens the Dark Portal. Kil'Jaden takes the orcs. They converge upon Azeroth as the credits music plays. Epic.
Impossible to give the WarCraft lore in a minute, this just scratched the surface, the video ended when it got to the beginning of events of the original WarCraft RTS game.
i don't give a fuck about WoW , i want Warcraft 4!!!
This is warcraft 1 lore *facedesk*
I swear to god you never played any warcraft game, so why want a 4th one?
i played warcraft 2 and warcraft 3 and i love them more than any Wow games because Wow reminds me on LoL and DoTA 2 games that i hate the most.
Dusan Bibin dafuq u talkin about dota was created using WC3, WoW is not comparable to LoL or DotA
i hate it because u control only 1 player in third person and bird mode
Dusan Bibin lol warcraft 4 is world of warcraft
And then Pandas.
***** From Warcraft III but yeah
***** They were a joke that turned into an expansion!
Oliver Anderson
Why do people keep saying they are a joke? Chen was a major hero character of the orc campaign, and while they had lesser roles in the other campaigns, the only non-canon pandaren appearence is the one that joins in the rescue Illidan mission if you did well enough during the tower-defense mini-game.
The Hydralisk was a joke...it was hidden and hard to find, did not carry over after that mission, and is never brought up at any time during the mission or after.
ZanathKariashi Because pandas were jokes. In w3 you can find couple random/hostile pandas, which gave like "wut reaction". And at the end of the game, you can find that "The largest panda ever". It gave me good lol.
Yeah, in frozen throne you can get Chen, but seriously, he is just joke & comic relief. Just about everything in his... hilarious. After you do his quest, he doesen't say anything, just follows you around.
They were jokes in warcraft, until Blizzard run out of ideas.
I didnt saw any pandas in Warcraft 3 reign of chaos and frozen throne..
It's a lot of lore in here, but not nearly all of it. Obviously that'd be overkill!
Well, great job. That's as much as you can fit into this short amount of time :)
These lores are the background lores before the first game in the series, that holds true for most of these videos
0:52 lol, panda
this realy isn't the lore, it's just the story of how the burning legion started
True!
It's the lore that leads into the first Warcraft, which is good enough.
SlyBiffrons Why is it good enough? Nowhere in description or title is that made clear. This way one can simply flag this video for Misleading title.
MarkaNLNL It's good enough because it lays the background info of the first game in the Warcraft series. That's what lore is. And the title quite literally says "Warcraft".
If this were "WoW lore in a minute" then it would detail the events leading up to WoW. See?
SlyBiffrons the elder scrolls and hitman lores told the story of what happened in every game until the last one.
All of that before warcraft 1. How did you find all this out?! THIS WAS AMAZING!
this was done so well, it takes Nobbel like an hour to go over all that
+Pink 9000 this is a 1000th of the lore in wow and 10th in the actual warcraft 1 game
i know it's the bedrock dude, but still it does it really well
+Pink 9000 Nobbel goes in depth, he just does basic details, I watch Nobbel because he helps me under stand the lore more than this.
Nobbel reads off of WoWwiki in a really irritating accent, then reiterates the same point 3 times, his 50m videos could easily be 10m
Pink 9000
Hey you have your opinion, he has read the books and at least he knows the details. Also shut the fuck up about his natural accent!!!
This game has a really good lore, especially reign of chaos which is my most favorite in the warcraft series, but people only seem to notice this game for the custom map dota, and im sad when people watch me playing the campaign and people come in like, oh look its Axe, oh look Mirana, oh look Magina its like people only play warcraft not for the campaign but for dota, im not a hater of dota, I play it, but the amount of times I played campaign and hours I spent playing it is alot more than I have played dota
Also I hate frozen throne because of the last final fight for the throne. Arthas vs Illidan its a fight for the frozen throne, on previous warcraft they made a wonderful job on cinematics, but they couldnt do that cinematic on that last scene, it just made me weep a tear when I saw that.
+Darwin Mendoza The lore still good though. The reason why the cinematic was bad is because this is Blizzard first time creating a cinematic using in game graphic but they have to rush the project since it was almost on the release day.
Great Lore, Blizzard actually should put it in first scene of the movie.
Actually this lore is a little inaccurate...
+Gildo Cravo That actually was the warcraft movie.
I'm glad I suggested Warcraft lore. I just wanted to see it. :D
Happy 50th Episode, lore!
0:50 Anybody else noticed Pandaria looks like a panda?
Wait, Medivh "is" Sargeras... WHAAAAT!?
sargeras spirit was in medivhs body but after medivh got killed sargeras was sent into twisting nether
+MrGlies It's clearly meant to be a take on the "Jesus as son of god" idea (except with evil beings instead of holy ones)... so think of it like that...
I read all the books of Warcraft, played every Warcraft game... IS IT NOW YOU MAKE THE LORE IN A MINUTE?!
this is not all the lore...
its Warcraft lore, the first game.
'this is not all the lore' WELL NO SHIT, you wanna condense nearly five days worth of non-stop story time into a 2 minute video? Go ahead.
The ABSOLUTE FUCK TON of lore in the Warcraft games/series/whatever couldn't be condensed into a 2 minute video. Sorry. lol You'd need a few hours at least. If not a few days to explain it ALL and all the connections, and why this bit over here is important and... yeah.
As these people allready have said, in order to get ALL of the Warcraft lore in one video, the video would have had to been like 20+ hours of constant reading. This is an EXTREMELY EXTREMELY EXTREEEEEEMELY condensed version of the lore behind warcraft 1.
It's the core,to tell all the lore you will need few weeks if not more of non-stop story time about that lore, its an epic lore but its really big, even if you will finish with the legion, eredar, dreanor, orcs, azroth and all the other bullshit you will still wont even get to half of that.
and then the whole shit got retconned
the Warcraft's lore is a really HUGE one , so thats a very very small piece of it ! And its AWESOME ofc !
The actual World of Warcraft explanation/LORE thing starts at 0:09, Then ends at 1:26,
that make it so that it lasts for 1m 17s. So it's 17 seconds longer than a minute, however it is still awesome!
Who else noticed that Pandaria in this video was shaped like a panda ?
literal Pandaland
who else is watching this so that they will understand what is happening in the movie? ;)
If you really want to understand, look longer videos with more precisions
The movie's lore is much different than the game's, so maybe this is not the best video to watch
If you want to understand the lore of the movie.. Get the first Warcraft and play it.
I once tried to explain *all* of the Warcraft lore to my intrigued cousin. It took about 20 hours spread across 5 days. And I actually condensed a few things and left out some unimportant details. e.g. some Emerald Dream stuff, lore that ONLY exists in game and not *completely* canon (as Chris Metzen actually said), a little Arthas/Mograine lore etc.
They really need to make another one of those.
This really is the core of the Warcraft lore. If someone who never played any Warcraft game before watched this, they would get the basic picture of the game, but if you add everything else, it's an overkill.
Thank you for using the classic WC music.
Isn't this just the equivalent of the scrolling text at the start of the star wars movie rather than the content itself we expected to be crushed down to a minute?
Hell if there was a college course for WarCraft lore I'd effectively live in that class, refusing to finish it.
I think this one needs a part 2
I really enjoyed that book too, I've only read that one, one talking more closely of Thrall's past, and Arthas' rise to becoming the lich king. i really recommend that one
I like what ya did with Pandaria at 0:50
happy 50th, can you do crysis?
Music at the beginning is from Warcraft 2 when you're defeated while playing as Orc, Music at the end is one of the tracks from Warcraft 1.
I thought it was gonna be the whole Warcraft lore...
But that would take at least ten minutes.
more than a minute
MOARRR WE WANT MOARR Warcraft LOREE ;D
But seriously, more zelda and warcraft lore ;)
Thats like half of the lore in over a minute! GOD I FUCKING LOVE WOW LORE!
This is one of the best summaries I have ever seen, but it lacks extendability. That's why I created an interactive version at WoW Lore TLDR. Go give it a shot!
I love how Pandarias shapped like a Panda Cookie.
Which leads us to WoD, wherein an alternate timeline is discovered in which the orcs never drank the demon blood and so never became corrupted.
You can't squeeze warcraft lore in one minute.
good start only 200 episodes more left :) and then we can move on season 2 :D :D
Blizzard is really implying that the next xpac will be about the burning legion, if you're far enough in the current legendary quest wrathion starts talking about the burning legion and is trying to have you prepared for them
0:58: i couldn't stop laughing at the mii!
Hahaha love how you have made Pandaria in the map the shape of a panda :D
JESSE= AWESOME NARRORATOR!
Man. It's depressing to think about how much of this will be retconned in a few years.
OMG Warcraft 2 music, some of the best music just ever.
Note on the Lore, I had no idea it was that rich, or should I say 'messed up' :-)
It's already up. There's already a fast facts and development lore for it...have fun!
Do not confuse what were introduced with the timeline. The characters here were not introduced, that's because the lore in WC1 was nearly nonexistant. But, in a timeline comparsion, this video is previous WC1, so the facts it describes are closest to it than to the following chapters (wich are, all the others).
Wow lore in 1 minute? YOU ARE NOT PREPARED!!
0:21 COFFEE TABLE FLIP!!!
lol i got a warcraft ad before watching andf while watching XD
YES YES AND YES AGAIN. VOL'JIN FOR HORDE LEADER.
Indeed. You are going to need dozens of books to fit in all the lore so far in Warcraft. I have read A Song of Ice and Fire, Lord of the Rings and a lot of other stuff, but to me, Warcraft is the most captivating universe I've found so far.
Originally they started as an Easter egg in Warcraft 3, when you fulfilled certain requirements on missions, you could start with Chen Stormstout, a Pandaren brew master who wandered the world, as a hero on your team. There were also 3(?) hidden pandaren relaxation spots. The lore is there, they just created a land where they came from. Having them is no different than having quilboars which are humanoid pigs, don't see what people get their panties in a knot about.
Pretty Inderesting I always wondered what happened at the story before Warcraft 3 and WoW considering I was too young to remember 2 and never played first one so yea, This came handy
I played wow for years and this is the first i've ever heard of any of this - did they change the lore?
1% aint that overestimating this lore-episode a little? wow has ALOT of lore!
This lore is more closer to Warcraft1 than (to) any other.
To be simple: This is the Warcraft mythos - extremely narrowed down version. It's the story of what're happened between the creation of the universet and the 1st game, but as I said: very narrowed down :D
I like that they used the original lore of the draenie corrupting sarg and not the BC version
The continent was called Kalimdor, the planet itself(which includes water and not just land) is called Azeroth. The planet was not split in four. It's similar to referring to Pangaea/Earth as two different things.
You're wrong. Whilst Archimonde may be dead, Kil'jaeden was simply sucked back through the Sunwell into the Twisting Nether.
It's a piece of clothing, if I remember correctly, that serves as his corpse. A necklace, maybe?
Pandaria is shaped like a Panda LMAO 0:49
i had no idea who Sargarus was until this video. Or how much space stuff and inter-dimensional things there were in warcraft either. With all that space/time travel stuff that is going on in Warcraft I wouldn't be surprised if I ran into some Zerglings and some Protoss down the line.
Yeah, the lore of warcraft is so giant and epic,it will take atleast few hours video to explain the whole lore...maybe even more.
the thing im most interested in on this is that the 4 continents were one huge one and were split when they destroyed the Well of Eternity. and did u notice at :50 u can c a panda face in Pandaria
i love how people complain about a 1 minute long lore video not having enough lore
WoW lore: even more complicated than its HUD
Someone in Blizzard already said that WoW is treated more like a 'possible parallel universe', and that none of the story in it is really set in stone for any possible sequel to the series.
You know what hit me? These are the very basics of Warcraft lore. WoW has so much lore that you couldn't fit it all into 100 volumes! I think a really important part if the lore was missed out when you forgot to mention the war between the titans and old gods and the creation of Azeroth :(
I'll do it for you. There once was a over rated game that was originally a "use map settings" game. The end.
is that a picture of "I'm a horde and I'm an alliance" at the end?
That pandaren continent is REALLY clever by the way... It's the panda express logo :D
Small question, do we know the sundering split azeroth into 4 pieces through actual lore or because we have seen it in WoW. i am wondering because if the latter is the case then we cant know if it has been split into 4 or more pieces. Also, if the first is the case then where would the next WoW expension take place because we have already explored all of azeroth and im not expecting them to make an expension cataclysm style again
Only half of Sargeras body was destroyed in the sundering of the well of eternity, but even so, his spirit lives and is immensely powerful, so he conjured an avatar and imbued his powers into Medivh. Medivh died, but that doesn't mean that Sargeras is dead - His soul wanders the Twisting Nether until he can find a vessel powerful enough to sustain his soul.
Just because they made a good lore doesn't mean it has to stay untouched.
I forgot to tell you that if you are interested in the lore you could play the strategy games or even read the books, which are not alll of them tied together.
0:51 don't you love that panda :D
What was that trippy music at the beginning?
Grievous... Thrall passed Warchief down to Garrosh. Garrosh is now the warchief of the horde and apparently Garrosh is supposed to be a boss in one of MoP's expansions.
Besides the ending (which is really just a poem) Yes.
And even in this video, they hardly touch on some of the more interesting things, for the sake of keeping it brief. There is genuinely a deep, complex story to be found in Warcraft's lore- it's why RP in the universe is as common as it is.
*Heir. And, if you remember, at the end of Cataclysm, it is revealed to Agra that she's bearing Thrall's child.
