For the stereo, for real age appropriate look the Blaupunkt Bremen would be a good choice, the other one I would recommend is ironically from Continental, they have a number of retro style head units and less than half the price of Blaupunkt . For floor mats I would have gone with CoCo Mats, but factory replacements work too.
Yes, I think 100percentjake had a video about such a unit, very oem look and feel. Think the units are used in semi trucks and busses.
I came here to say this. I installed the Bremen in my 1990 e30, it is outstanding.
Yes I was thinking of the Continental unit as well, and chuckling because Pete was wearing a Continental hat in the video. I had the VDO version of the same stereo. The Bluetooth functionality works great, not a lot of features but a nice simple stereo that fits perfectly with the dash and instruments. ECS Tuning, Pelican, and others sell it. Affordable too.
I have the Bremen as well in my 86 4Runner. Looks the while being functional. Hopefully they don’t cost an arm and a leg, when I got mine is $450USD
@@corym3985 I came here to recommend Continental. Looks clean and sleek
In 1988 when I was 16, I had an opportunity to buy a 911 Targa (a 1979 I *believe*) for $7000. My mom pushed and pushed me to get it, but it was more than twice as expensive as the car I ended up getting. Man, I wish I had listened to her. Lol
Blaupunkt Bremen, has Bluetooth dab and everything you need and totally retro looking unit 😎👌🏻
Porsche has a own small Car Play Unit, looks very nice!
For the stereo, I suggest the Blaupunkt Frankfurt RCM 82. I have the Bremen they re-released a couple years ago, and it's good, but it has a really old Bluetooth chip (2.0). The Frankfurt uses a Bluetooth 5.0 chip, which is much better. If you get the Bremen you may suffer from EMF interference (buzzing) with that old BT chip when listening to it at a decent volume.
9:50 your side to side slop in the shifter is usually caused by the main shift rod bushing and/or the cup bushing the shift lever drops into. Judging by the fore/aft movement of the coupler, the main rod bushing is the big problem.
Both were replaced when doing the install. Numeric includes both.
Hmm I was going to suggest somehow doing a collab on the detailing with AMMO NYC but I think DP is right, you'd be afraid to drive it! 😂
colorglo gta can probably repair that door card
Nice to see you guys are back working on the Porsche 👏
You guys are great at this! "Feels good guys.. nice and tight!"
VDO Continental has a lot of vintage looking radios that work as a new unit with bluetooth and all you need, i put them on my 80's and 90's builds.
the whole look of this car is so freaking good. the tire fitment to the fenders. the rims. the black on black on black! god its such a good looking car. is there anywhere to get a better look or maybe some high res images of it? i really want to see this as a 1440p wallpaper for my desktop
Those seats are perfect in that car
Probably just get a aftermarket headunit that would blend in with the interior. There are a lot of choices out there already so it wouldn't be much of an issue
Seats look super good in there!
for some pretty easy upgrades wow what a difference. Those seats are perfect and the paint really pops now. looking good!
The interior came out great!!!
I've been a subscriber for about a year.
And I can honestly say I love the Porsche content. I'm a huge fan of Porsche 911.
Especially the old ones.
Looks great!
Man these videos got me motivated to start making some upgrades on my Project.
Continental makes a great head unit for porsche with Bluetooth and all. Check it out.
The pccm+ is more like 1500$ regardless single or double din. I put the double din in my 996TT and it's awesomeness
I use a hardwired Bluetooth FM transmitter that goes inline with the antenna, sounds just as good as when using an aux-in. I wanted BT with my factory ‘06 dodge radio, I like the OEM look, so went that route.
More 911 videos please! ❤
Since Continental is a sponsor, why not go with their retro stereo unit? The TR7412UB I think. Jimmy Oakes used that in this 964 and looked almost factory
Wow. That ceramic coating really punched it up. Nice work!
You need to wire your Bluetooth Adaptor the the 3.5mm Aix input on the front of the unit, then it'll work as intended :-).
Dream seats 🥲🔥
Damn, I love that e34
perfect seat choice
For the stereo you could look at the Blaupunkt Bremen. I personally use one in mine and it looks good!
Danke!
I'm loving this old guy stuff :)
Lol smart move using the license plate cap for the door card hole. I never would’ve thought of that but it works!
you should lookinto a Becker headunit, they look like vintage units but offer everything you need and the quality is superb
Continental/VDO makes some really cool oem-looking headunits that also have Bluetooth
I’m early for some Porsche content!
Seeing so few cars in the background is freaking me out man!!!
For the shifter - checkout the other end of the cables and see if you can get new bushings - potentially you can replace the rubber with custom lathed brass or if you get lucky sometimes a skateboard bearing or similar for cheap
DP should get really good at detailing and start releasing detailing videos to add to the line up.
Continental makes a sleek single din radio that looks great in older cars y’all! Can’t believe you conti boys haven’t seen it
Yes the retro line Blaupunk is great.... I would choose the Blaupunkt Valencia 200 DAB BT. it has a very good price
There are leather repair guys who could fix that hole no problem. Its pretty amazing what they can do.
Clarion M508 to replace your headunit. Very solid, retro look, awesome sound and Bluetooth. Had one in my 96 Bronco.
DP without a hat at 16:20 🤯😂
Continental, Blaupunkt, Retrosound all have classic looking radios.
Dream car. IMO get the PCCM.
I suggest a Clarion M508 single din head unit, its a Marine radio, but has bluetooth and has a classic simple look, kind of like the Nakamichi units back in the days.
You guys should consider building a Boxster, Cayman, or 996/997 911.
You might wanna check out the Ampire Retrosound "Design Black" or "Grand Prix" as car radio.
I had this one in my SC, which to my eye, looks similar to your current unit --> VDO 101.264 It did everything I needed except charge the phone (cigarette lighter adaptor). Continental have the identical unit with orange back light --> TR7411U-ORK
For the stereo unit, I use the Continental VDO single din unit. It's cheaper than Porsche OEM unit, and still retains the OEM looks, mostly the European. It supports Bluetooth too.
The seats transformed the interior. Nice.
Blaupunkt Bremen SQR 46 DAB for the headunit for sure.
as an engineering student, I can tell you that the bearings in the shift coupler shouldn't be ball bearings due to the kind of load it's being subjected to. What you really want is a roller bearing, they come in very similar packaging, you could probably find the right ones and swap them out.
Good observation, although the load must be well below the capability of the bearing.
@@corym3985 probably, but for longevity it would be ideal
It would look so much better in my garage!
Blaupunkt Bremen will fit to 911 well =) Its pricey but well worth it!
911 Heaven 😆
Dark, but I like it.
What about Blaupunkt retro series Bremen SQR 46 DAB?
For the Bluetooth deal I'd suggest a FM transmitter, they make compact ones that look like a phone charger and use the dc power jack.
that floor mat actually looks cool you should have kept it
Thank you for this video. You did a great job with this 930. I wish you guys were in Los Angeles if you were selling that WEVO shifter I would buy from you because I am in Los Angeles
for the bluetooth, just use a female rca pair to an aux jack and just plug it in the front, you'll have BT when you go into aux mode on the headunit
For the bluetooth module you need rca splitter or another module with stereo output
Try the ghost 2.0 box . You could leave the headunit there for the look and run the ghost box which you can run your audio etc from your phone through.
There's an aftermarket company that makes Bluetooth adapter that plugs in into the usb and aux jack I've used it and it works
There's that Continental TR312UB that looks oem. The only one I have experience with is the Blaupunkt Bremen sqr 46, but that's 500$.
You could run a 12v cig lighter bluetooth dongle with an aux cable to the front of the unit. It's super cheap and easy but won't give you the clean look.
Check out the Blaupunkt Bremen SQR 46 DAB head unit
Blaupunkt Bremen SQR46
As far as radio, I'd look into Clarion. they have the m508. It's a Marine unit but It look period correct
Well, Recaro was the leftover after Porsche bought the body factory Reutter, who had been manufacturing the 356 bodies. There has always been a connection between the two.
Recaro's universal pattern is simply the Porsche F and G pattern.
REeutterCAROsserie 👍
Get a 3.5mm Bluetooth adapter for the AUX imput on the front. You can find a small slick black one that would match nicely
This Continental BT stereo will fit perfect in the porsche and looks OE. Model continental tr7412ub-or bluetooth.
They make ones that have a 3.5mm jack that plugs into the six port and then you just have to plug it in to a power source and you can connect your phone and play as if it were playing through the 3.5 mm jack
Have you seen the continental radio for classic porsches? That is what I got for my Alfa
Also the Classic Porsche new release has a screen and connectivity
You can get a JDi Ghost Box which lets you keep the the headunit (although you won't need it anymore).
love the content and the builds . the new carpet for the driver side loks to be off a bit the third pedal is partially covered.... but love the car non the less
That because its an aftermarket pedal there
leather is sticky and smelly, the seats are also heavy, yeah im upgrading mine, any advice on getting those weak bolts lose, the allen key just strips the metal no matter how much leverage i put on them
You could go with the Porsche classic headunit
Continental has a headunit with bluetooth and os very OEM looking. Continental TR7412UB-OR
Check out the JVC KD-X560BT, its single din for your Porsche application.
That slop is without a doubt in the gear selector unit. How can you know that? Because the slop doesn't translate over the the shifting shaft further down where the hole is. I don't know why manufacturers (Seemingly more often the Germans for some reason as the JDM stuff is at least sometimes better) can't make this better after all the years of manual tech. Anyway I have an E46 M3 and the slop was just horrid! I even found myself hitting reverse at a traffic stop a couple of times and almost hit the guy behind me it was so bad. And this was when the car only had 68,000KM on it. That's only 42,000 Miles! So I spent $24 CAD (That's Canadian Pesos for inquiring minds) and ordered one of those generic China Short shifters from ebay really not expecting much if anything to change with it. But it changed EVERYTHING! No it's not perfect but the change is SO much better!! Best $24 I ever spent.
not sure if this seat has the fan installed but if not - i would install a quiet CPU fan with variable control to the bottom @3:11 there appears to be the provision for it
3.5 mm ugreen aux aptx 4.0 bluetooth module works fine in my bmw.
For the head unit you can buy the Porsche andriod unit which is made for this car.
With the bumper off it looks like Frank stephensons attempt at a mini 😂.
That Radio is now available with Bluetooth and DAB and it looks the same
That radio does not have a cd changer input? It could be used to connect the bluetooth adapter
I'd love to take this car for a rip
The seats suit the car well still look porshe like
For the head unit maybe a Blaupunkt Toronto 420BT? Bremens are expensive and i'm not a fan of the design.
the car looks awesome. was it bought before prices went sky high?
Long long ago
Love your wheels, can you please share where can I buy them?
There is a usb Bluetooth adapter that is quite small and easy to use.
ASUS - USBBT500 Bluetooth Smart Ready USB adapter
porsche is making a radio or headunit like you called it for their older models. it got bluetooth and even apple car play. you should get that!
He said that he didn't want it because it's too expensive just for Bluetooth.
I really like how the Recaro Sportster seat looks, are they good enough for track day duty? or should I really aim for a full bucket?
I have them in one of my cars and have used it on a few track days, they’re good and do hold you in good compared to most other seats for the same price range
The seats better be comfortable at $1400 a piece…
Blaupunkt Bremen or more my taste is a Becker radio, sorta like the Porsche version
My 79' 930, like all porsche, shifts like a tractor and goes like hell. I'm used to that, since i grew up driving tractors and ranch trucks. If you want precise shifting buy something with a gated gearbox 😅
Good luck getting it just how you want.
My 70 beetle had the same shifter setup and shifted like garbage. I did the coupling and the bushing inside the shifter tube, but the slop was inside the case itself.
3 years ago the transmission of my 84 Carrera was rebuilt and the Wevo gate shift was built in. It took a while for the transmission to get really smooth but now it shifts perfectly .
Just ditch the stereo altogether. It’s free weight reduction, and you already have that beautiful custom exhaust.
Where can I find a car like this, I really adore it!!! I want to buy
