    Great swing, great analysis. Love listening to a pro talk (professionally and with some due respect) about the mechanics of the golf swing. No better swing to showcase great mechanics artfully deployed. Scott’s is a great swing to watch, but with Immelman’s narration it was easy(er) using Tiger’s swing to see how the kinetic chain, for lack of a better phrase, works (or should work) in the golf swing. Really marvelous.

    I love these Swing Theory videos because Mark's analysis is spot on and usually when I see a swing analysis video, I'm yelling at my computer in frustration because of how cluess the analyst is. This is never the case with Mark and he does a great job with this series.

    Very few swings as fundamentally sound. Adam Scott comes to mind, very comparable. But Tigers swing is just, it's his. Little difference that made it his and was/is so enjoyable to watch.

    • @TheWedgeWizard

      You gotta love tigers swing. Scott has basically used tigers 2000 swing as a model for his own. Everything is so nice neutral & balanced which allows them to play all the shots with little manipulation. I’ve always tried to copy Scott’s and tigers positions and the way they play the game. Of course the game is played between the ears but having a technically sounds swing certainly helps hitting the ball flush and consistently.

    • @TheWedgeWizard
      @TheWedgeWizard Před rokem +4

      @@method341 Scottie’s swing is pretty close to the same positions as tiger and Scott, similar swing planes, square club and wrist at the top, similar posture, similar turn & lateral moves through the ball. The 1 big difference is he lets his trail foot move back and in at/after impact. Very similar in most aspects. Many ams could learn from all 3 of their foot movements, a huge mistake many make is letting their trail foot/leg come up and out towards the ball before impact, good ball strikers have their trail foot pressure moving back& in before impact then it comes up and around. Scottie just let’s his foot slide with the momentum but all 3 of them’s trail foot is shifting pressure in the same direction not allowing early extension, a high handle at impact, that trail leg getting out towards the ball will usually cause heels/shanks for players that do the opposite and let that foot come up and out before impact. Same with other guys like Justin Thomas who raise their foot early, it’s moving back & in 1st then comes up and out after the ball is gone. JT and sheffler are 2 players I’ve heard people use to justify claiming foot work is irrelevant, but it certainly is not irrelevant, you can lift early if your doing the correct way but no good strikers allow that trail foot/leg to come up & out towards the ball before impact, that’s a recipe for poor strikes and probably shanks. All 3 have extremely similar swings.

    You could give Tiger's exact swing from 2000 to 5 different guys on tour and they wouldn't be able to beat him, because Tiger's biggest strength was his mind and ruthless mentality, the fact he's won so many majors with so many different swings proves it. Same with Phil Mickelson who just schooled everyone except Rahm & Koepka at 52 years old at The Masters finishing 2nd. Give the Tiger Woods of 2018 Tommy Fleetwood's exact swing and Tiger would win a major with it.

    I watched Trevor Immelman at the 2005 Canadian Open at Vancouver's Shaughnessy Golf Course . He was on the practice tee talking with VJ Singh, and hitting shots. I remember thinking , that has to be the most perfect, elegant , fundamentally correct and best golf swing I had ever seen. Later , that year , Gary Player was commenting on his swing as well, and said it was the best in the world. So, he is the right guy to comment on Tiger Wood's swing, I would think!

    The circa 2000 swing to me was flawless. Also, I don't think anyone in history has tinkered with their swing and been able to play consistently great golf. This makes Tiger the GOAT in my eyes.

    • @TheWedgeWizard
      @TheWedgeWizard Před rokem +3

      There aren’t many tour pros who haven’t consistently tinkered with their swings. John daily, bubba Watson are 2 I can think of, but most players are constantly tinkering and trying to improve. Tigers swing really hasn’t changed that much, it got a little longer and more square in the late 90’s, a little flatter and fanned open around 05-15, now it’s a little higher at the top similar to 2000. everyone’s swing is going to evolve over years and years, especially when they get older and your body changes. I’d say guys like Ricky Fowler have made way bigger changes to their swings. Jordan sleuth just made some changes, Sergio’s swing has changed a lot, Justin rose, ect. They’re all consistently tinkering and trying to ingrain changes for the better. It’s ingraining the changes to become instinctive that’s the hard part, it’s easy to consciously change different aspects but to get to the point where you don’t have to think about it is the hard part.

    • @MarkSmith-lz5rk
      @MarkSmith-lz5rk Před 10 měsíci

      @TheWedgeWizard but why tinker when you're winning 30% of your tournaments if not more...he was humiliating the rest of the tour with his 2000 swing. Nobody else has played like that ever. Other players never won at that rate so tinkering is understandable.
      I agree too about daly and Watson...they have home made swings and pure talent to use them with perfect timing...

    • @9ineToe
      @9ineToe Před 10 měsíci +1

      @@TheWedgeWizard I guess I shouldn't have used the word "tinker." What I meant was - Woods made MAJOR swing changes with different coaches and swing theories over the course of his career, and was still able to win consistently. I agree that everyone makes small adjustments on a day-to-day basis. But few pros, once they undertake big changes, can return to their top form.
