    Great video as usual, very informative and visually appealing. The great thing about your videos is I feel I can trust the information you give us, as opposed to some of the mumbo jumbo you get from other channels.

    Great video Logan I just picked up a bottle of the apt 1 last week to give a try. Hoping to get some better reds out of my h’ra my nitrates were getting to about 40ppm after the week with high plantload

      I'm happy to say APT 1 definitely works well. Pair it with high CO2, high PAR lighting, and give it about 4 weeks to see really significant results

    • @SlickNick3
      @SlickNick3 Před 2 lety

      Glad to hear that! Have you noticed any negative effects to other plants from nitrate limitation?

    • @LoganRandoAquascaping
      @LoganRandoAquascaping  Před 2 lety +1

      @@SlickNick3 Thankfully I haven’t. From my research, keeping the plants in a nutrient rich aquasoil helps prevent the deficiencies. The roots slowly uptake enough nutrients to prevent deficiencies.

    Hi Logan! Great video! Right now I’m using the EI method. Can I just skip the nitrogen in my diy (salts) dosing to limit the nitrogen ? can I adjust this all at once or should this be done gradually because the plants first used the EI method ?

    • @LoganRandoAquascaping
      @LoganRandoAquascaping  Před 2 lety +1

      I don't see a strong need to ease them into zero nitrates. The one advantage of maybe reducing nitrates by half first, is that it help ensure that your green plants don't totally suffer without nitrates. Maybe reduce to very low nitrates, observe plant health for a month, and proceed accordingly

    Thanks for The tips. I whas wondering im doing the pps pro méthode with co2 and fluval lights. 3.0 and in a différentes tank the one That comes whit the flora tank. My light par are fully ajustable however im not sure how to maximise the plant groth. And do you have anny tips for the pps dozing méthode ? So far its good but im sure it could be better . Thanks

    • @LoganRandoAquascaping
      @LoganRandoAquascaping  Před 2 lety

      PPS Pro falls somewhere in between EI and lean. No major tips or tricks, just pair it with quality lighting, high CO2, and watch your plants' health.

    I have the Chihiros RGB Vivid, Still getting use to the Controls of it. But, it's so bright I'm afraid of Algae. Anyone else have this light could be helpful to me with some pointers since there's no instructions that I have yet to find. It sure brings out the red colors of the Alternanthera reineckii mini

    hi logan. do we need co2? i see md fish tanks channel and he somehow manages really red plants w/o co2 and v low tech setups. hes even got an all red planted tank with no co2. usually within dayas my red plants turn green when reaching home from the store a few days after.

    • @LoganRandoAquascaping
      @LoganRandoAquascaping  Před 2 lety

      While I strictly use CO2 in all my tanks, I think high lighting and low nitrates probably play a stronger role than CO2 in bringing out reds. Give it a try, just remember that running high light without CO2 runs a high risk of algae.

    Do I need to use Flourish? I'm using APT Complete currently just hit my 1st week. Also I have this Week Aqua L600 Pro lighting where as there is WRGB in which I can adjust, from 0-100%, which of the colors I should choose at which % ? Currently at RED= 85% GREEN= 50% BLUE= 80% WHITE= 0%, is this ok? in able to get the most out of it. Thanks for the video on more power to your channel!

    • @LoganRandoAquascaping
      @LoganRandoAquascaping  Před rokem

      Hey DM, I'm not too sure about color customization for LEDS since all of my lights' RGBs are pre-set. Regarding Flourish, APT complete has everything you need nutrient wise, so no need to dose anything additional.

    Hii Logan, just wanna ask....a prolonged nitrate limiting can also cause nitrogen deficiency in plants??? And also limiting N also triggers a bit hair algae..is that true..??
    A very informative video indeed
    My favourite is Rotala blood red. I have heard that it gets deeper red than Hra.

    • @LoganRandoAquascaping
      @LoganRandoAquascaping  Před 2 lety

      It can. That’s why it’s really important that you have a nutrient rich substrate when dosing lean. The plants can uptake the nitrogen they need from the soil to prevent the deficiency. That said, certain species will show deficiencies more readily than others. I’ve never heard of hair algae from limiting N. Some folks observe hair algae from a lack of Phosphates though

    I got a kessil A160we Tuna Sun over a 15g column tank. Is that a good light , i am new to the hobby and i just bought a bunnch of red plants

    • @LoganRandoAquascaping
      @LoganRandoAquascaping  Před 8 měsíci

      Hard to say specifically since I don't have a ton of experience with Kessil. They are a very reputable brand, but column tanks are challenging due to all the depth that light has to penetrate.

    Is pps pro a good fertilization method to get lush and dense plants? Given all other factors are ideal.

    • @LoganRandoAquascaping
      @LoganRandoAquascaping  Před 2 lety

      As long as your lighting, substrate, water quality, CO2, and temp are in check, I think most fert regimes get the job done

  • @justintechnic1995
    @justintechnic1995 Před 2 lety

    I’m a big fan of over filtering but is it really true that you cannot over filter? What happens when your filters are so efficient that you end up starving your plants?

    • @LoganRandoAquascaping
      @LoganRandoAquascaping  Před 2 lety +1

      Great question, but remember, a filter wouldn't be removing them from the system unless you have specific filter media the does that. A filter, no matter how large, will simply circulate nutrients and they will still be available to plants through water column absorption.
