Though he is celebrated all over India he started with greeting people in Kannada. His movie is all about culture of his region within Karnataka. That shows how strongly rooted he is and has not forgotten the ladder after climbing up. Bollywood stars (not all but most of the star kids and wealthy by family) has to take a lesson. Be grounded, be humble, stay local, speak local, live local,take Indian stories global (can bring in global stories if they r really worthy). Please come out of ur NRI status and stop doing movies like gehraiyaan which hardly connects with people.

South Indian movies are deeply connected to their culture and they are successful. They never insult our culture and Bollywood has been insulting our culture since ages. If they don't make good movies now, they won't succeed.
Southern India is a very wide spectrum. I would say Telugu and kannada cinema are doing fine. Not Tamil though. A hint of Dravidian politics is peddled through Tamil cinema.
I love Malayalam movies also . They make the best thrillers.

It’s like Bollywood cannot accept that another industry can beat them and be ahead of them. They’ve been ahead of other industries till now and no other industry interviewed Bollywood asking what do you do right for the movies to work. I just see insecurity in Bollywood right now and they want to get back on top. It’s about the position of the industry rather than the quality of the movies for them.

Rishabh Shetty is spot on with the answer. South Indian cinema is very deep rooted in their culture and they give it immense respect. Bollywood cinema is only busy in copying the west and Korean cinemas . They do not have ideas of their own .Most of it is stolen. Bollywood only shows their heroes and heroines in glamorous avatars, or designer outfits . Story has no importance at all. Only fat pay cheques , designer wear, glamour , body shaming , cringe fest matters in Bollywood.
