I'm currently working on making my own tanning business. the hides i do, do not turn out this way. I've done a few hides already and they've turned out amazingly flexible and very soft. But they definitely didn't turn out like a factory hide. But to be fair, im doing it more of a traditional way, not with millions of different machines & acids.
Back in the day, native Americans had great tanned hides. Nothing about their method was done with 10 different acids & machines, and their hides turned out absolutely amazing.

Brain tanning is still one of the best and most efficient ways of doing a hide and the Native Americans were better at it than anyone.

Ive successfully tanned a few beaver pelts myself by hand after a ton of trial and error, a ton of work but very rewarding. Only attempted to shear 2 that were alright no big errors as Im not much experienced in that so wallhangers and garment material for now. Super tough critters and fascinating to work with, love seeing pelts worked to honor the critters we have to catch, for years to come they will be seen and admired. So beautiful imo

Searching for “plucked and sheared beaver” results in content much different than shown in this video

Sadly with the prices of fur now, it's just not worth trapping beaver anymore. Gas prices alone eat into it so badly that the $20 you might get for a nice prime beaver just doesn't make it worth the money. I'm getting back into beaver trapping after 20 some plus years, but it's mainly to teach my son and I plan on keeping and tanning the pelts myself to make into projects here instead of selling them.

If You are in Canada I’m interested in connecting to local trappers for my projects will. It direct from you. I went on a fur line one winter for five days, we ate beaver stew, and respected the natural way of interacting with our abundant environment.

We’ve all sinned and cannot get into heaven if we’re corrupted by sin. Jesus Christ sacrificed Himself so that whoever ask forgiveness will be forgiven of sin. If you put your faith in Jesus and are willing to turn from sin you will be saved from hell. 🙏🏼
