I'm Pete, I play guitar! Having fun with metal guitar doing everything from modern and progressive metal, extended range 7 strings and 8 strings to thrash metal on a good old 6 string. Riffs in the styles of other bands, shredding and lots of fun with metal music!

The transition from Time Lord to The Djentleman was very nice.
2:27
Thanks! That's actually an excerpt from one of my songs called 'Numbers'. All the time signatures were randomly generated and I wrote the song to it :)
The Cynic: Cynic
The Shred Head: Symphony X/Dream Theater
Thumper-Struck: Animals as Leaders
Needlessly High Guitar Strap: John Petrucci
The Bland Conjuration: Opeth
Technical (Death Metal) Difficulties: Necrophagist
IQ Level 5000: Haken
The Hammer On Hero: TOOL
Time (Signature) Lord: Between the Buried and Me
The Djentleman: Meshuggah/Periphery
The first riff and thump riff really sounds good, got that feel! Usually you can add some triplets in the thump which make them sounds absolutely killer
I very much need to practice the Thumping stuff, I love the way it sounds but I rarely use it in songs :)
@@peteplaysmusic yeah, thumping is not easy but very satisfying when get it right. Nice content always 👍
What bands these styles make me think of
- Shred Head/Time Signature Lord: Dream Theater (John Petrucci)
- Thumper-Struck: Animals As Leaders (Tosin Abasi)
- Hammer-On Hero: Tool (Adam Jones)
- Djentleman: Messhugah, Periphery (and mostly just a lot of djent bands in general)
Nailed it haha :)
And "The Cynic" (first one) is very obviously in relation to the band Cynic. Not sure what "The Bland Conjuration" is, although I feel it's on the tip of my tongue. Also, love how "Technical (Death Metal) Difficulties" was kinda a TechDeath version of "Technical Difficulties" by Paul Gilbert / Racer X.
@@ThorsShadow The Bland Conjuration could be Opeth
@@ThorsShadow Not familiar with Cynic but that makes sense, though it did take me a few seconds to realize it was Paul Gilbert
@@peteplaysmusic Those were complete guesses but cool to know I was semi-accurate lol
That Oldpeth reference got me triggered and excited simultaneously.
That was a damn fine Opeth impression with that bland (how DARE you!) conjuration riff.
man i got Opeth vibes from the first note
Is there a song sound from opeth sound like that? 😱
@@Maregohr everything since Pale Communion sounds like that?
If Opeth is bland, then im afraid to hear about what you think isn't bland music 🙄
The Djentlemen is straight up New Millenium Cyanide Christ by Meshuggah. I love that song.
INDUSTRIAL METAL!!!!!
The metal quotes both musically and in naming of all the sections is off the charts! I really like how you're able to capture and condense cues from different artists. A banger like always!
I like 90s prog mostly. Those bands keep the decent balance between sick metal riffs, atmosphere and, well, the prog part🙃
Melodic Death Metal next?
I second this
Transition between Time (Signature) Lord and The Djentlemen is literally Born of Osiris or After the Burial
That was juicy, thanks for the sensations!
Nailed it. 💯💯💯💯 Thanks for including the Cynic! Focus was ahead of its time
Incredible video and incredible music, Master Pete!
Haha thanks! :)
I honestly loved all these riffs! Even after laughing at some of the titles. This was great Pete! Is it too much to ask for a compilation of progressive music from you?
I'm a simple man. I really liked the Djentleman and the hammer on hero riffs. Very nice, dude! For the next style, I'd say Industrial metal! Keep on keeping on, Pete!!
Some of these riffs were actually sick.
As always pete, amazing 🤘🏼😈🤘🏼
Thanks! :)
Pete always making the sweetest riffs. We need POWER METAL!
Always love your take on Cynic
Love me some Cynic :)
Dude, killer video! Can't wait to see a GROOVE METAL!!
Thanks! :)
Time [signature] lord is lovely. Nice guitar Peter!
The accuracy is unparalleled.
Let me guess your inspirations for some of the riffs:
The Shred Head: %60 In the Name of God (Dream Theater) - %40 This Dying Soul?? (Dream Theater)
Thumper-Struck: Definitely something from Tosin Abasi. Can't remember the name.
The Bland Conjuration: The Grand Conjuration (Opeth duh)
Technical (Death Metal) Difficulties: Stabwound (Necrophagist)
The Hammer-On Hero: The Pot (Tool)
The Djentlemen: New Millennium Cyanide Christ (Meshuggah)
Excuse my lack of musical knowledge if I'm wrong.
The Djentleman wasn't inspired by NMCC, that was a NMCC cover
You are actually trying to show off your musical knowledge 😂
We need a full version of the Time Lord. God that was amazing
Always love ur video,, lml Keep Rocking! Love from Bangladesh 🇧🇩
Great Video Pete!!! Do Deathcore next!!!
Opeth is amazing. And some of the most unique riffs ever
The Shred Head: Dream Theatre
Thumper-Struck: AaL (obviously)
Technical Difficulties: Necrophagist?
IQ Level 5000: Haken?
The Djentleman: Periphery
The Bland Conjuration has some Opeth vibes to it somehow. Nice!
plot twist this is 1 continuous song for the time signature lord
Technical (Death Metal) Difficulties reminds me of good old Necrophagist :)
1:27
Stabwoooound!
With a strong Egyptian flair
Is The Hammer On Hero Protest the Hero inspired ? The style sounded a bit like Tool to me
Love the name and great video ^^
prog never dies
Bland conjuration is groovy as fuck
Should do Power metal. Should be eclectic enough for some fun if you use the more broad definition of stuff ranging from Blind Guardian to Sabaton
This slaps
Most fun!
I bow to the time signature lord.
Love Prog guitar.
The hammer-on hero sounds like Tool and Haken had a baby lmao
The Bland Conjuration 😂😂😂
Damn, dude even got the beard and beanie right
I think you should do Power Metal Guitarists Be Like... or Traditional Heavy Metal Guitarists Be Like... next.
The Djentleman fucking rips what the hell
"Hammer on hero"
Tool fans: Wait, Ive heard this before...
Time Lord reminded me about Ron Jarzombek, he loves to do strange stuff
Thanks for including Cynic! They really don't get enough recognition.
I could listen to that bland conjuration all day.
Thanks! :)
Would be awesome if you do a Metalcore or Nu Metal next 🔥
2:01 nice Tool riff
The bland conjuration 😂😂😂
In all seriousness, I love Opeth :)
@@peteplaysmusic love them too!
Needlessly High Guitar Strap TM
As someone who's not a huge Prog Metal fan, I was surprised at how many of these riffs' stylings I recognised.
I vote for a Doom episode in this series, esp if you throw in the very thrashy At Doom's Gate, just for the slightly confused
DO GROOVE METAL! The Hammer on Hero was my favorite
power metal could be pretty epic :p there is a big range from a very old school helloween to dragonforce to your d&d inspired bands
Doom metal would be cool!
This is a good one for sure :)
Heard so much BTBAM in this!
Definitely a band I need to listen to more of :)
@@peteplaysmusic 100%, outstanding band!
Hair Metal next. I know you'll make it sound great.
I suddenly want to listen to Liquid Tension Experiment. haha
Stoner doom next!
Second that!
Ah...the hammer on hero.
AKA: Groove Prog \m/
Funny how we were just discussing prog in Trey's Gong Gang, and then this video came up.
Try nu metal, next!
Whats the neck like on them boyo's? Is it still thin even with the indura neck or is she chunky with the curve as well? Always wanted one but was never sure if it would be "fast" playing or not.
next - melodic death metal plz ;)
Blues
Very guitar! Much head!
Lol :)
Love from India 🇮🇳 master pete ❤
Some love to Mathcore👀
DJENTlemen was so sick
Thanks! :)
With the Time Lord, are the riffs bigger on the inside?
Hahahaha yes of course they are! :)
🤘❤
Drop d + 0-3-5= instant tool
What sounds like the 5000 iq, that was my favourite and I recognized bands in every style except that
I modelled it on a section from The Architect by Haken :)
as a nearly professional prog metaller...
y e s
Metalcore or Deathcore, no doubts
What about old school heavy metal next? Bands like iron maiden and judas priest
great to see The Cynic there.
Love Cynic :)
@@peteplaysmusic They definitely deserve more love.
prog djent please ^^
You forgot the strummer (Enslaved song)
Ando San be like pls!!!!!
The Djantlemen
I heard 4/4 multiple times in this video. how could you
why is the Hammer On Hero just Wyona's Big Brown Beaver
those people with the high strap concern me
Also, Doom Metal next
Doom/Stoner
Whats that instrument you're playing I see it has strings and sounds like a guitar but I dont recognize the shape at all ;))
Haha :)
Did you know if you take Ground Up Dehydrated Peas and Run them through a Coffee Maker you either get Coffpea or Tea Pea/Pea Tea? And you can now eat the cooked Peas... You are welcome.
I need new One Riff 20 Bands , pleaze ;)
Was I the only one who spoted the 0-1 (tab) joke in the Djentleman?
Not a joke that I actually intended but, it works haha :)
power metal next!
That definitely one I want to do :)
1:26 necrophagist
I recognized Dream Theatre, Tool, Opeth, and AAL?
Yup, that’s basically it :)
stoner metal could be very fun, just get a good gross fuzzy tone and go to town on weird bluesy psychedelia
There's like 50 different styles of hardcore. That'd be fun.
The Djentlemen 😂
It had to be done :)
whats the name of the riff for the cynic its amazing
That’s just a riff I made for this but it’s based on the 4/4 and 7/8 riff somewhere in the middle of Celestial Voyage :)
I mean if you do one for Black Metal it would be a very short video
