    Know what I love most about your content? I can FEEL how much you love what you're doing. It's inspiring and encouraging, especially when I feel like I've been in a bit of a rut lately. Also, your comments about being 41 but not having that sink in yet made me chuckle. I'll be 41 later this week and have started to realize the same thing 🤣

      Yeah it's a weird time. I retired from team sports about 7 years ago due to my back issues and a desire to avoid further injury so I can keep climbing mountains into my old age. I've got a few friends who are battling on and keep getting injured and it's not pretty to observe. When I was 22, I used to laugh at the 41 year olds as I danced the ball around them.

    Connection - that is what it all about. All forms of good photography involve the creative forging of a connection between ourselves and a place, a moment, a person. From E.M. Forster: "Only connect! That was the whole of her sermon. Only connect the prose and the passion, and both will be exalted". Thanks again for connecting with us.

    Not only did that image look wonderful and connect with me, but the whole video did. The personal enjoyment of just getting out, taking in the peace of being outside, capturing photos for no one but yourself. Wonderful.

    Hello Adam, great video. One thing occurred to me regarding your back pain is that you try pilates or yoga to strengthen your lower back. It works. I am 20 years older than you and, believe me, it doesn't get any easier carrying around heavy packs. Try it, I think you'll notice a big difference. Thank you for your hard work and skills and enthusiasm.Good luck.

    It’s amazing how you can visit the same spot numerous times and when the right conditions are present a subject that normally is not attractive, changes. I was after an image of a Cottonwood tree that was growing along the ground but the background was always too busy. After about a year and a half, I hit the right conditions of haze and snow along with the right angle of view. It was so rewarding and seems to be a very popular image. Keep up the great work.

  • @marckriggins2171
    @marckriggins2171 Před 2 lety

    The finished tree comp is as I envisioned, having taken the small tree to the left, out of the frame. I would, also, have accented the sky, whether in camera or post edit. Imo, you created the English version of the Blue Ridge Mountains of the US... I am grateful the British who share their love of country, which in our case is landscape photography. Being a former Officer, I am sure that you may have an opinion (apart from this platform) on much of the dystopian negligence of basic Human rights, since this so-called pandemic has destroyed the World Economy, (with a little help from tyrants.) I encourage you to observe that the contextual definition of Pandemic was changed in 2009.... Adam, I appreciate your content, whether in the field or in the Office, printing/editing. Thank you for your continued perseverance to go out and brave your personal pain to frame the elements. I finally went for a shoot for the first time in 6 months...

    You completely blindsided me there. From the title I was expecting something like "the importance of the Rule-Of-Thirds" (boring) but instead got "the importance of Enjoy-What-You-Do" (much more interesting). The tree in front of the mountains is a particularly nice picture and the "jeopardy" of it appearing to be on the edge of a cliff adds to it, too.

    Go to an ABC (Advanced Biostructural Correction) Chiropracter mate, the only one that works as it adjusts you from the front. It made a massive difference for me being able to unwind old back injuries to finally sort an old paragliding injury I had. Get well soon. I recognise Castle Crag from your video as I was there last October and also climbed Cat Bells, you are in a beautiful area at Borrowdale. That's a lovely first image you captured. Cheers.

    Thank you Adam...another superb video and of course excellent images. Most of all, thank you for sharing your "philosophy " of creating images that have meaning (as well, if we're lucky ,that also demonstrate technical competence that is recognised by others). I also hope the back did not suffer too much and that you haven't run out of Voltorol (which I find is an increasingly important component in the kit bag for the knees ! ) All the best Terry.

    So sympathetic for your condition Adam. Coming to the lakes in May, very much looking forward to it, but since my foot injury years ago, it's been a real problem staying fit. But hoping to enjoy the region none the less. You are inspiring, not just photographically, seeing you trek up there with your bad back! :) Always love your videos, looking forward to the next in-the-field! Loved all the layers in that first image.

I was expecting it to be brighter but how you took and edited the image showed those rays of light beautifully

    Years ago my dad used to write and take photos for local newspapers and I used to be annoyed when he wanted to take family photos because he always said "a photo have to tell a story to connect or it's just an empty photo" so his family photos was yuck for us but now as I'm in my mid 40s I can say I kind of agree with parts of it but still not with family photos 🤣🤣
