For me landscape photography really is about being there especially at this time of year, to sit in a bluebell wood and just take it all in gives me a sense of well being, best antidepressant for free!

Adam your video was such a pleasure to watch, I felt calm and relaxed while watching it, such a pleasant change from the usual "You're doing it wrong", "You need to be doing this" and "Don't make this mistake" type videos which other CZcams photographers relentlessly bombard and confuse the poor viewer with.

Also completely agree with your thoughts on current issues. I’m so tired/bored of all the people bashing - it’s the system we should be railing against not each other. Getting out with my camera is my antidote too.

"We don't enough time focusing on systems"... as a professional political economist (and Yorkshire ex-caver) I couldn't agree more - systems shape our behaviour, and although we can (and should) shape human systems to best accommodate all of us nature is the one system that we need to learn to adapt to and appreciate for what it is. Landscape photography is one way of teaching ourselves!

I love your videos and look forward to watching them. I so appreciate that you don’t just talk specs and gear, although I enjoy when you do. It’s that I enjoy your thoughts on why bother taking photos at all, that it may have almost nothing to do with social media and more to do with you and your feelings about life. I’m waffling but I hope the comment coveys that I appreciate your approach in a sea of sameness.

Adam, always always enjoy. Sort of new and learning landscape photography and what you say make absolute sence. Spent 21 years in U.S. Army, most in the middle east. Have seen alot of ugly the word has to offer so I do photography to show myself and my children that this world isn't all ugly. There is a lot of beauty in this world and it's still good. I shoot what catches my eye. If it draws my attention i snap it. Still learning and watching you and others is getting me there. Thank you

  • @theoutdoordogphotographer

I Adam, great video and it touched a cord with me. I made a video a couple of weeks ago for my channel, it was about as I as an amateur photographer, got sucked in to the believe that I needed websites etc rather than concentrating on what I started landscape photography for.
I still have a website on Adobe Portfolio, which of course is free and I still use social media (IG, Twitter, FB and CZcams) and I have a shop on Etsy, but I now don't feel under any pressure to create content of any kind, before I was kidding myself that an image was good enough when, in reality, it wasn't. If I go out and I get a good image that I think is worthy then great and if IO don't, then so be it

What a great final image Adam to complete your 4 seasons series. Two big takeaways for me is to immerse yourself in the moment to enjoy the experience and printing is a good way to make that connection once again and to relive the moment. Great video once again and always a pleasure to hear your thoughts

Hi Adam. Hope you're well my friend? It really resonated with me when you talked about practice and repetition. Who was it that said "Don't practice until you get it right.. practice until you CAN'T get it wrong!" Don't know.. can't remember! But it is something I try to live by. And I'm still getting it wrong, so I still need the practice! 😂😂

A very important video. It's not equipment or fancy lenses. A Adam said, use your phone! If sharing on FB, Tumblr and others, it's plenty sufficient. When ready, go to Digital camera. I use very small. OK for prints 8 x12" ! The 1st digital I used was a Pentax Optio, 3,5MP! I am old, so small is perfect.Don't listen to 'real' photography is Film. It's had it's day. It's expensive. I spent about 40 years working in my darkroom. TG for Digital. Make small prints and give them as gifts for Easter, Christmas, Parties! I mount on board usually coloured. In years to come, you will see your image on fridges, walls and display cabinets! Go Tiger!

So enjoyable, a real throwback First Man Photography classic. Stunning time-lapse's, insightful thought, epic music and video editing plus, of course, the journey and majestic photography. I really felt like you were enjoying every minute of this mate.....which, after however many years you've been at it, is testament to (what I perceive to be) determination, passion and drive to deliver for your audience (especially considering the massive amount of work that goes into producing this type of content). BRILLIANT.

Great images and great advice, as ever!
I saw you were bracketing, so one thing I'd be interested in seeing is a vlog on shooting into the light, as you do in this vlog. I'm thinking things like bracketing settings, whether you see a place for the use of (subtle and natural!) HDR software, blending exposures (luminosity masks?) in PS, etc. Basically, how you get from the bracketed images to the final image.

  • @G0FUW

By an amazing coincidence I was doing some printing today and thinking about that great feeling of holding a print, reflecting and appreciating the process from seeing the composition for the first time. One of the prints was a massive crop from a 'test' image I made this week on my compact pocket camera and even at A3 it looks fantastic. I also find the prints look miles better than screen images. Maybe that says more about my PC screen than my printer, but I hear others saying the same thing too. Off to the North York Moors in a couple of weeks' time, so will be following in your footsteps Adam, new stomping ground for me and Mrs H and we are very much looking forward to it. Thanks for sharing, always a treat.

I still use the Sony A7RII. It works, why would I upgrade? Once it finally dies I will think about getting a new one but until then I will spend my money on trips to new locations. Much better value for my money.

Oh, nature can be brutal to the cat too. It's just not as frequent as to its pray. That said, I think the most important bit of advice was that about purpose - that's what it is all about in the end. And the hardest to find (and sustain).
