I have three main hobbies/lifestyles (Photography, Firearms, and Transportation (cars, boats, planes.) It is amazing how people "in" those spaces are all so similar. Decades ago I learned the best skill set to have when you are very passionate about something - and that is to identify and ignore those who seek to introduce negativity into your stream, and strive to be "not that." No matter what you are into, and where you go - there are people who will approach and view what you are doing with negativity. 99% of the negativity is due to an issue with them - not you - and they can't deal with it so they are hoping to project it upon you and your efforts to make themselves feel better, appear more relevant, or create drama (we live in a society that celebrates drama, division, arrogance, etc.) If someone approaches me with negativity, I mentally write them off as not worth my time. Once you master this ability - it will be a giant weight lifted off your mental health and you will enjoy what you are passionate about even more. The way you choose to engage someone speaks volumes about your character - and it doesn't matter if it is in person or online. I am always supportive of those around me, and if someone can't do the same - I just wander off.
Wise words. Thanks so much.
Even if I see a really bad picture on Facebook I still give it a like but don’t say anything, we all had to start somewhere.
Well said
This is one of the many reasons I follow you, You wear your on your sleeve, you tell it like it is, your passionate, you not trying to big up yourself, and your an all round top bloke so, keep em coming, stay passionate and just be you. Big Up from Sunny Croydon
Ha Croydon. There’s a blast from the past. Love it.
Such a great edit, a story teller at work and I was just happy to enjoy being apart of it! But my O my what a morning! Bloody brilliant Adam! Is it wrong I’m still laughing! Looking forward to another day out bud! To finish, a wonderful collection of photographs, that should be exhibited!
Huge thanks to everyone sharing the love for a Mali Roast, NEW CZcams CHANNEL?! lol 😂
I also like the fact you kept my Mrs Overall impression in at 5:15 😁
Wonderful video. You and Mali appeared to have a great time together despite the weather. I really could feel both of yours excitement when you reached the summit with the epic views with light. That's what the joy of photography is all about.
Well done you two for toughing out in those horrible conditions, and rewarded with some stunning shots. PS. A collaboration with Gavin H. would be absolutely epic. 😊
Ive admired @fototripper for years. I’d be thrilled to collab together.
Brilliant roasting Mali 😂 Great images of the mountains, well worth the pain… 👍
Definitely was!!
Great video Adam. Your point, raised by Mali, about the lack of exhibition/gallery space is something I have wondered about for years. I would have thought that with all of the great photographers capturing the Lake District, Dales and Mountains that some form of co-op would have been created to showcase everyone's work.
I always enjoy watching your videos. They are so down-to-earth and always very inspiring. Not that I would need additional motivation to go out and shoot, I honestly live every free minute for photography. Photographing, developing pictures, printing, framing, it never gets boring. Thank you very much for all the effort you put into your work and this channel.
Seems similar to something we have here in New Zealand. The weather is often so changeable we say it’s “four seasons in one day”
Thank you, both, for voicing the frustrations that I feel and I'm sure that many other photographers feel. 🙂
Really enjoyed this. Great photos and worth persevering. I’ve done the sleeping in the car after a 5 hour drive to Skye and woke up to an amazing sky at the Quairang. Malis rant was brilliant. I was almost in tears laughing. We have just got to get out and enjoy ourselves. I’m still thinking about Alyn Wallace who did things in his short life that I’ll never get around to but his legacy will live on.
Yeah. I’ve been offline and just found out about Alyn’s passing this evening. The absolute opposite of the people I was talking about in this video.
Mali was going for the Academy award there and almost got it.
Lol yeah, it almost slipped of his tongue a little too easily.
I love this channel - Adam is so honest and forthright.
Cheers Guys! Fun video, that's for taking me along also
Fantastic video and what a laugh to see Mali and yourself having so much fun in difficult conditions. Love your passion and enthusiasm. The tech problems will hopefully sort themselves out Keep up the great work 😀😀
Great video Adam nice to see you out with Mali.
Adam, you are keeping it real and that’s so refreshing. Thank you for a great video on what annoys you. I hate the haters. The internet gives them the feeling that because they are anonymous they can say anything they want even if it’s not productive and out right mean. So much to comment on but bottom line is I’m with you on all your biggest headaches.
Mali I am with you all the way
Loved Mali's rant...i was at the photography show and was talking about your print on the mountain episode...priceless...anyone can take a decent photo with enough work etc but treking up the mountain with an A3+ printer, now thats special lol
Wow! And you brought us along with you - thank you soooooo much - Wow!
Great video Adam.
The weather was horrendous and we appreciate you taking the time to make this video in those conditions.
The part with Mali giving you a bollocking made me laugh.
It was brilliant and how you managed to keep a straight face at the beginning i don't know.
You must have had a few takes to do it.
The image's that you captured when the light came out well great, especially the ones of the mountains.
Look forward to the next one.
Absolutely love your honesty Adam.
The "outtakes" with the other photographer had to been hilarious. I have seen him with Gary Gough and they worked well together too.
The skit with Mali gave me a real belly laugh.. Gavin Hardcastle watch out!
Would love to hook up with @fototripper
I recently did a video on “grumpy photographers”. There’s no need for negativity in photography, we have plenty of it everywhere else.
I’m in the same Drobo boat as you.
Love your videos and great images there with Mali!
Thanks mate, totally agree. Although the Drobo situation tests the limits!!
@@Firstmanphotography yeah, I don’t have a solution yet. Makes my brain and wallet hurt!
Great video! Thank you for being so honest and always sharing relatable content. Social media is definitely my biggest headache, knowing what to post and when is hard to measure. I'm just about getting used to setting my expectation low with the UK weather and being grateful when we get the good light.
I used to do a lot of cycling and went along to club night on Wednesday. I learnt very quickly that I had to pick the group I needed to be with. There were three sat at different tables in the clubhouse. The ones who only did Sunday rides, the ones who only went hostelling and the ones who did both. What a pain because I had to work my way from table to table to talk to people who I liked in each group. Photography is the same in many ways. By the way as a rally photographer I would have had to sit for a few hours in those conditions. 😂
Im surprised you didnt burst sooner when Mali was in full rant mode 😂. Totally agree with what you said today Adam and in terms of number 2, with the sad news of the passing if Alyn Wallace yesterday, he eptitomosed the complete opposite of the annoying characteristics you described. Stunning images too amd rich reward for enduring those conditions
Oh no!! I’d not heard that. So sad, I guess he’s amongst the stars now.
All the best Jim.
fyi- you should have seen the outtakes. There’s a reason I zoomed in on Mali’s face.
@@Firstmanphotography news broke on X and Instagram yesterday unfortunately.
We are aligned Sir Adam... and Mali too for that matter... Cheers from Texas !!
Fabulous video. Loved the humour and the serious messages, and so great to see the images (and excitement!) when the weather opens up. Excellent.
Totally agree with you about “technology”! It seems as if I spend more time fixing things than I do enjoying and doing photography.😊
Often the worse the weather the better the images. You had a lot of great images there. Congrats to Mali for a truly inspirational rant 😀
Absolutely
For me this is your best video yet. It’s got me motivated.
The second image you shared is absolutely phenomenal 💯
Brilliant message and content Adam (and Mali), thank you.
Amazing you put so much effort into this video
Ah thanks so much Wilf. That comment has made my day.
Don't mess around with Mali! that's my advise to you...ha ha.... Thank you Adam you always speak wise words and I found this blog quite interesting and funny, it made me laugh and that brightened my day up....Thank you...
If you cant have a good time with Mali then you cant be breathing and its good seeing a few videos with you're fellow photographers.
You and Mali are so good together, love the photos and the “rants”.
Adam, your films are an inspiration to me. Thank you.
Thank you -----
I agree with Mali about photography not being taken seriously in the art world. I have one friend who actually joined a gallery as a partner just to show his images. After several years of hard work at the gallery and virtually zero sales, he quit. Another friend was invited by one of the bigger galleries in town to show his work. Don't know if he's sold anything. All of the other gripes in this video are all legit, and I've experienced many of them. All frustrating as can be.
Unless you catch the attention of collectors, prints don’t sell well. Sam Abell, the well known National Geographic photographer, said that his work isn’t the kind of work shown in galleries and museums. I just shake my head, especially when I see some of the photos that do make it into museums.
@@TomNorthenscold Agreed. And if you think what's making it into museums and galleries is crazy, look at contest winners. Very often, the bigger the contest, the more insane the winners. Sometimes it almost seems someone paid someone off to win.
Well done for lasting out up there guys amazing rewards. And stunning conditions to see.😮👍❤️
What a fantastic video and outstanding pictures to go with it, and that roasting by Mali was hilarious!
Thank you very much. Appreciate that.
Video of the year so far! 🎉❤
Adam you nailed some keepers there calendar keepers just stunning!
Thanks so much Andy!
Thank you Adam. I would never have seen some of the amazingly beautiful scenery that the UK has to offer if not for you.
Thanks for sharing again Adam.
Stunning images. Worth battling that weather
I love those days. Every changing. I've taken many of my best photos on such days. It just rains with opportunities. But don't have a Mali on your ass :P
The weather here in the UK has been just rubbish since the beginning of the year! I finally went out yesterday to take some shots as I really don't do rain and wind photography haha
Another great watch, funny with you and Mali 🙂
I did a family shoot yesterday and got home to discover lens flare through half the shots that I didn't spot while shotting. UGH! Thankfully, I've worked out how to fix them, but it has added a shipload of more time to my editing process. Lesson learnt. (And new skill learnt, too, so there's a positive in everything.)
Absolutely stunning pictures 📸
Thanks mate.
What a true video Adam, full of home truths, with spectacular images thrown in, being on top of that hill with the view to the mountains must have been magical 👌
Thanks mate.
Hey Adam... Great video. Thanks again from Canada.
One of the best videos you've ever done in my opinion mate, excellent. 👍😎
Good vid and some great shots in interesting and challenging conditions.
I'm very sensitive to criticism ie non constructive criticism and I do always think my images aren't good enough. I'm not a 'proper' landscape photographer cos I dont get myself out early enough in the morning and am a bit namby pamby about really bad weather 😅 Additionally I dont feel inspired by my local landscape.
My man, who fully admits to knowing nothing about photography, says photography is not art because the photographer is copying what they see with equipment, albeit skillfully but cannot be compared to an artist. Maybe, that view is why there is so little gallery space. That, and the misguided idea that anyone can produce a decent photo.
Enjoyed the video and the humour 😂
Ansel Adam? Eat your heart out. Stunning shots - excellent work. Keep ‘em peeled
You make a very energetic duo and give photography an energy. It's missing from a lot of videos these days. I'm watching fewer vloggers these as a result. Great Video. Think more people need inject some fun into their vlogs. Gavin Hardcastle is a master of it and it makes vlogs more watchable for me. Hope to see more of this 😊 I also agree on NFTs. Anything that is store digitally isn't a one off. If you buy a digital product and it's sold as a one off, use your loaf. Even deleted data is stored 😂 Don't buy into it. The only person winning is the scammer.
Yeah, would definitely love to hook up with @fototripper at some point.
A great day indeed! The images from the top were amazing. That's definitely the stuff that keeps us going out. Thanks for sharing those photography headaches. Each one I resonated with!! Even if I've not encountered it personally, but I so very can see it. Mali did a great job trying to roast you too! Hahahaha. That was funny.
Great video, mate. Totally real 👌
Great video Adam
Glad you enjoyed it
Gorgeous images! Have you considered making a video on how you edit your mountains-scapes to black and white?
My main hobbies are competitive bike racing and photography. I buy a new bike every 10 years and a used camera every 4-5 years. As long as they keep working, I can't justify upgrading. I was using a used Sony A7rii for about 4 years and it finally died so I bought a used A7rv. Now I'm good for about 5 years as longs as it lasts.
Well done for persevering up that hill but as with most things your hard work was certainly rewarded not only with great images but that moment up the top with a like minded mate, genuinely priceless . I have never understood NFTs and what the perceived value is , i have always just thought it a bit of a con as i didn't get it ! Good to see you out with Mali . How did the pocket 3 hold up in them conditions as far a weather sealing goes. Is there not a setting to keep the mic and not switch off? Hope your well take care mate !
There probably is an option although i guess you then run the risk of the battery dying. Still not fully confident with the Pocket 3 in the rain. Used my phone on this one for the worst bits of weather.
Great video Adam and a great set of photographs. There were so good points raised in the video. You both did well to keep a straight face as long as you did with Malis rant 😂 I wonder how many takes did it take.
Absolute belter Gents...... was wondering how long before you both cracked up laughing 🤣🤣🤣
There’s a reason I zoomed in on Mali’s face in the edit. 🤣
Great stuff Adam, your friend is like my conscience. Always screaming at me. He is awesome! Hilarious! He needs to do VLOGS! Tad windy........Great adventure.
Sound advice as always Adam, stunning light captured in them shots bud
That was funny with Mali 😂 great video
Mali was spewing some shade there 😂
Haha never heard of shade, smooth gradients maybe 😂 Thanks Tom
That's hilarious. Well done.
Great vid. Currently ordering a waterproof cover so I have one less excuse for not getting out in “bad” weather
Good stuff! Love it!!
You're 100% with the NFT shite!! you want a rare photograph, contact your favourite photographer who you trust, buy a limited edition print get it on your wall!
If squarespace is so good, it wouldn't be trying to persuade so many photographers (and others) to ruin their videos.
I upgraded my Canon DSLR up to several cameras. Micro four thirds because Im getting old, and my Canon gfear ws getting too heavy.
A Lumix S1R because I still want the option of using my TS-E lenses, and it was better than anything Canon had at the time. Im looking for the Mk II now, and Canon still hasn't caught up.
Wicked weather changes in seconds and sometimes it's brutal but you have captured some awesome landscape shots. wish i was there the same time . how much editing to the sky did you have to do with the frame
Not sure which image you mean, but for the epic mountain scene at the top, barely anything.
Love your enthusiasm, passion and the way you say thing that others don't as not "politically correct" great photos and buddy 🤟
Hi Adam. Always enjoy your videos. You are spot on about NFTs - not worth the paper they aren't even printed on 😄
Oh, Mali! haha
I think he was referring to all the Adam’s on CZcams. 🤣
Hehe 😛
@@Firstmanphotography all two of us, haha
Hello again, thank you for sharing. The images are stunning. If you didn’t battle the elements it wouldn’t of got the images. I also love the content and the joviality .
Is your headaches feeling better? 😀 I have often headache #5. So as an act of resistance i've returned to my Nikon coolpix P7000 10M pixels 🤨 Each time a new camera step out I'm going on the opposite side 😝
You mentioned about not needing to upgrade your Canon and I noticed I have not really seen the Fuji recently. What happened to the Fuji med frame you were using? Great video btw.
I had the XT3 for while. The GFX was a loaner.
The GFX was the one I was thinking of. Ok thank you!
Great video Adam. Wedding Photographers are the worst ! I agree Canons cameras are awesome ! So reliable!
With you there!! Although my wedding photographer was pretty cool. Plus I thought I was ok!!🤣
@@Firstmanphotography 😂. You definitely are the 1% of those wedding photographers 😂
I love this one - best for a while! But talk of the cost of things.... If one has not created photography as a business that can make enough to pay for that gear, then options are more limited. And even more so when you are of an age to collect your pension. A different mindset comes into play. It has to. You're just not going to be able to afford, or justify to yourself, the expense of the gear you see most CZcams photographers using.
Don't get me wrong. In no way is this a complaint against those using the top level gear. I love to see it used and I love to see the results of the work - even when the weather is making you feel like jacking it all in.
Another thing comes with age. That's back problems. I'm no longer going to carry a top level Nikon and 4 heavy lenses, plus filters, plus tripod, plus a flask of coffee and some sandwiches, up the hilly walks any more. Or even beach walks for that matter.
Maybe I should start my own channel dealing with these issues... And showing the good results one can still get. At the end of the day, it's the skill of the photographer and not the price of the gear. We still admire the classic works of Ansel Adams, for instance, who was using gear that would not have looked out of place in the Victorian era. Or that French guy (Cartier Bresson?) and his unique ability to capture the moment on his Leica II and even earlier cameras.
Problem with my wishing is that I better train myself to edit video.... OK.... next lesson of life coming up....
Mali LOL
I get the euphoria bit but for me even that's going. The likes for bad photography on Social Media then the lack of support as you say has me thinking "am I wrong?"
Am I simply shit and my photography shit? Is the person with a following who took a poor photo, gets a gazillion likes even after they say "I shot at f1.4 and probably shot it at f3.2"
Enjoyed the Video, and out in hail, what more do you want! 🙂
Tell us how you really feel, Mali! LOL!
I knew you would get your own back on Mali, you removed the sling off his arm 10.45 and he didn't even notice. Nothing wrong with your complaints and being a gatekeeper where scams are concerned is a good thing.
Just want to say thanks for putting your affiliate links in the description. Needed to move websites, and I'm happy to see a little of my website spend flow back to the creators who help motivate me.
Brilliant bringing this up Adam, you and Mali are the opposite of those people. It’s the one thing I can’t stand, those inherently negative people where nothing is ever good enough.
Rubbish!!! Nah, just joking, that was a great video. Really put a smile on my boat :)
I have to agree with mali on the part about the naked women and nudes sad i have amazing landscapes wildlife and abandoned structures and old history and you can't get that stuff put in to anything i almost every magazine is fashion and naked women and boudoir you search for work calls for nature or anything else crickets nothing maybe 3 magazines pop up and they are (Nature) but its they want naked women in Nature not Nature with animals or landscapes of nature
Love this Adam. You make a great team with Mali too. As for kit, yes constantly upgrading. That’s where we are in digital-ville! Neale
Adam, your films are an inspiration to me. Thank you.
Wow, thank you!
