I don't find Jokic's game boring. For me it is amazing and awesome to watch to be honest. The shot selection, the passing ability and basketball iq finding an open guy who can score.
I don’t even understand how anybody could view the greatest passer of all time as boring. Great passing is literally the best thing to watch in basketball.
Tell me. Where the hell is Tim Duncan? Sorry if you don’t get the reference. I’d still love to hear where you seen him, because I ask myself that every time I hear Giannis saying that 🤣
I was never a Spurs fan but I really enjoyed watching Tim Duncan and David Robinson play. And the jokers demeanor reminds me of Tim Duncan. The ultimate team players.
Nikola is not nervous about podcasts. He looks absolutely relaxed talking on press-conferences, making jokes and stuff. He just doesn't want to waste his time.
He’s an introvert and was raised in a lingering commi region. You’re taught not to speak about yourself or try to stand out- equall. Doesn’t like talking about himself. Humble too. Black Americans do not like or understand this. They want to dance and make sure everyone notices when they do something special, which is fine, but, different than the eastern euro culture.Just cultural differences, both due to crappy circumstances due to those in power’s expectations.
I grew up a Tim Duncan/Spurs fan and Jokic reminds me of Timmy in so many ways. I'm thrilled to hear that he looked up to Duncan as well - but definitely not surprised haha. Rooting hard for Jokic and the Nuggets to repeat.
Never underestimate how popular and loved the spurs are overseas. They were cosmopolitan before it was cool. As an Australian, there are a lot of people over here who just go for the spurs because Patty was there for nearly a decade.
Tim Duncan is a really humble guy, I remember hearing he got a quadruple double stolen from him. He probably didn’t speak out as it would overshadow David Robinson but that’s just a theory.
@@sirisaacnewton3305 it’s team sport not me… - that’s a mindset problem that Wemby doesn’t have- like Jokic, he only wants to win. This arrogant attitude is why basketball isn’t that great of a team sport anymore. Accept the good teams that know how to be humble and selfless, like the spurs were and nuggs are.
@@ryanlewis530 To be able to make you gotta miss some first. That's how you learn in life. Look at Kobe, missed a ton, but that made him be one of the greats.

I don't think people realize how durable Jokic is! he's not the strongest or fastest but he can play through minor aches and pains and still be who he is on the court! 82 games leading a team at his size and frame takes not only physical fortitude but mental aswell! he's a strong-willed guy!
For all you Denver Nugget fans who thought Tim Duncan game was boring, now you know how fun it is to have an efficient player on your squad! While the world calls your MVP boring, it doesn't matter because they still giving you Ws.
Can we not appreciate greatness across eras? Both are amazing. I love that they could be team guys, and the best at what they do. I would bet both of them don't care what we have to say between their greatness, but also that both were incredibly talented players. We take comparisons way more seriously than we should, as they would only give the others their flowers. I would guess.
Let's just say, Tim Duncan was Jokic's basis at first but as the season goes on he drastically adapted into something like Bird and Magic fused styles, especially right now...
I'm happy to see people saying Jokic has a lot of Tim Duncan characteristics. For me, they are very similar in many ways. The thing stands out is the capacity to envolve all the team in a game and make the teammates playng better
As a Spurs fan I can see the comparison. Jokic has a bit more shooting and passing where Duncan has more post scoring and defense. I think Jokic’ all time ceiling is Duncan who IMO is top 5-7 and that’s about where I think Jokic can be with a few more rings, and sustained greatness another 6-8 years. All well within his grasp. The big thing w Jokic is that he doesn’t have a Kobe or Shaq he’s running up against every year. I hope Jokic can win back to back and collect 4-5.
8:57 - it's worth mentioning that the game the Nuggets one, the Spurs did not play Aldridge, Parker, Green or Leonard. You know, just 4 of their starters
Jokic comes out of the Yugoslav tradition of positionless basketball. Duncan and Bird both came out of the NCAA. Bird and LeBron are basically point forwards. Magic was a point guard with the size of a forward. But it's hard to think of another point center. I suppose Hakeem with his soccer background is one possible forerunner but he also came out of the NCAA.
If you think about it, disregarding a bit the athleticism of Asron Gordon, the 2020s Denver Nuggets are the spiritual successors to the Duncan, Manu and Parker Spurs, they're an underrated team that sticks together in bad moments, they held on to their players when they were injured, they get very few all star selections, and work extremely well together.
Jokic in some ways is easier to explain than Duncan. He's the coming of age of the European player in the NBA, the culmination of the infusion of new talent that started with Petrovic and Kukoc, and had an early peak with Dirk. You were going to get some great players out of an entirely new pool of talent. But Duncan? Duncan was like a holy revelation, like some prophet that came out of nowhere. When they drafted Duncan all you think is "this guy's already a hall of famer." Even Jordan wasn't quite so complete right out of college. Maybe Magic, who won his first championship against Dr. J his first year," or Bird, who won his first ring against Moses Malone his second, but the league was so much strong in 1997 than in 1980.
My first and second favorite players are TD and Jokic(I don't know but i fell in love with the simplicity of their games), and man that was a great summary for both of them.
As a spurs fan jokic has resemblance of timmy but jokic is his own version of big man while taking Timmy’s part of offense like his selfishness and the “awkward” way he scores
I saw this podcast clip where Richard Jefferson kinda ratted out Tim. He was trash talking him saying Jokic would destroy him, he'd dominate him etc. He said, Tim replied in the most Tim Duncan manner where he said " I played him after I was me and before he was him and I did alright ".
They don't play anything alike. Jokic is way better offensively than Duncan and Duncan is way better defensively. Jokic is more like Arvidas Zabonis on steriods..
Jokic is a much better outside shooter, but I wouldn't say he is way ahead of Duncan offensively. Young duncan was 20-25 a game in a very low scoring era. Was an elite rebounder and good passer too. Young Duncan was also a much better athlete than jokic.
I guess it says a lot about me that Duncan and Joker are my favourite players. Also became fan of the Spurs with Robinson who I realllly liked. I guess I don't like showboats and big mouths. Give me humble champions. I love it when greats stay humble.
jokic heavily based his game around timmy. timmy is top 5 oat imo and hes one of my favorite players ever. i love their playstyles so much im not even mad at them for destroying my favorite team in the finals

Nikola Jokic can retired early from the NBA and become a professional horse racer.
