- Hey everyone! In this week's video I'll show you can build mechs with anything, including cardboard! I wanna inspire you guys to create your own models with whatever material you got. Let me know what you think in the comments section ;)

So this is just a paper model, wanna see a BIG Combat Robot being made from scratch, here it is ----> czcams.com/video/8YhLiUZnglQ/video.html
Cardboard (as Adam Savage says) is the gateway drug to making - and as a boy in the 1960's it was for me. To see your skills and techniques applied to this material shows just how they develope along the way - Measuring, cutting, glueing, preparing basic shapes etc. This video should be in every Maker 101 course, amazing and amusing in equal parts. Cheers CTG
Thank you so much! Yes, I've heard Adam saying that and totally agree :)
Cardboard never gets the love it deserves, great video!
That's not even cardboard. It's corrugated paper. Cardboard/cardstock are different.
Thank you!
I haven’t built much with cardboard in years, I should do some more. Back in grade school I used to use cardboard and card stock to make marble tracks. My fifth grade teacher caught me making one during free time one day, and ended up asking for more information on the different cutting and folding techniques I used. The next week she ended up making a physics/geometric constructions lesson based on it, and asked me to assist. It was a ton of fun.
man i would've loved this when i was in high school, not only for the cardboard but also wood. absolutely loved art class for making stuff out of cardboard, masking tape, and hot glue, and loved woodshop for making stuff out of plywood, paneling, old whiteboard, whatever i could get really. been a long-ass time since i've made anything like that though, might just have to give this a shot for old time's sake
Hell yeah, just go for it! Thank you :)
Wow I'm patiently waiting for the outcome, this man is very creative, amazing from scrap to craft
If you use a thinner cardboard, such as cereal boxes, you can cover the layers without exposing new ones from the covering resulting in a much cleaner look.
Regardless of that, this is so freakin' cool! Mad power to you for aiming to inspire!
or even card stock. I used to keep a stack of junk-mail postcards (offering to pay cash for my house or inviting me to a newly opened dentist office) until my wife got into scrapbooking and I had all her multi-colored and textured card stock to recycle.
Yes! Possibilities are endless, just a matter of how far you wanna go :)
That's a great way of building a quick concept idea , before making the actual model itself , you can figure out the geometry and design and play around with it more 👍
Just what i needed, i'm planning on building a battletech stop motion puppet, this is handy
Absolutely phenomenal build. I like the creative way you made it all fit together. It really is incredibly inspiring.
I can’t imagine the pain of cutting it out layer by layer.
Yay, that was my goal! Thank you
Very cool! Such an accessible project. The paint and black lines really make it pop. Your video editing on this project was excellent too. Thanks for sharing!
Thank you so much!!
Fantastic video. There are a TON of construction methods in the paper crafting and cardboard scene that could easily be applied to anyone's mechs for very clean and detailed results. Combine this with some bottle caps and other household junk and this could easily be a "free" way to make robots!
Amazing idea as always buddy! Thank you
Love your videos! I’m curious what some famous mecha designs would look like I’m your style. Have you ever considered making a scratch built Gundam or Robotech Valkyrie? I think dipping your toes into some fandoms could boost your engagement. Keep up the great work!
This is absolutely getting me itching to build something. We've been moving and renovating our house so my office and hobby space has been in boxes for over a year, but I could whip something like this up!
Yay, just go for it! Thank you :)
...and now I am officially jealous of your skills
Absolutely love what you said : « everything is a medium ».
Always earnings tips from your work.
Thanks!
Thank you!!
This might be useful for when I'm wanting to do some more 40k Ork scratchbuilds
As much as I love your longer projects, it’s so great seeing your build something so quickly! And make it look so easy!!
Thank you :D
Im kind of catching up on my YT videos and this one really gives me that "computer training dummy" vibe with its blocky shapes and grid pattern, like something you'd have in a virtual simulator for training troops in mech warfare.
Looks awesome, I always try to build one cardboard model at the end of the year after xmas because there is so much left over its a waste to just burn it all lol.
Love it! I'm seeing a new future for my Factor boxes
I LOVE this video! It really highlights the "back to basics" model building that I'm sure SO MANY of us cut our teeth on... I know I did! Thank you for sharing work that everyone can access! ❤❤😊😊
Thank you so much buddy!
Love the accessibility!!! Cool build 😊😊😊
Thank you!
@@CutTransformGlue you are welcome 😊
Very cool build brother
I would like to see you build a spaceship From the Startrek Deep space Nine TV series. The u.s.s Defiant.
it seems to me or I hear a clear Russian accent. Okay, if you want to see it, it's very cool to see a fur made of cardboard. I really liked its design.
That was really cool. Great idea for doing a concept build for a more detailed project, or as a low detailed, quick and easy build.
Yes! Thank you :)
Brazil mentioned!
Nice skills Well done, Love your work!
Thank you!
Cardboard. Cardboard?
Never in my wildest imagination did I ever think of using it to build models.
We'd build forts out of huge boxes, but never stuff like that.
You have been truly blessed with your imagination.
Thanks for the video.
Now let me rethink all these cardboard boxes I have.
Thank you so much ;D
We had a discussion on a robotics face-age about getting started with cardboard for cheep robots.
You sir, have officially inspired me!
I'm so happy to hear this, thank you!
You have succeeded. I am inspired to try this.
Yeah, happy to hear that!
Hell yeah bro!
almost a metal gear rex
Me who made an Armored Core out of a raisin box:
if you wrap your cardboard with construction paper then paint it will hide your ugly edges just a thought
Possibilities are endless!
Instructions unclear: built a 700lb 10 ft mech :D
Lol
First! 😊
