  • Thrust Flight is the sole U.S. importer and distributor of Czech Sport Aircraft’s SportCruiser: a modern, well-equipped and economical cross-country Light Sport Aircraft. The SportCruiser is a fun and easy plane to fly, offering glass cockpit technology at a cost far less than traditional aircraft. It has been the top-selling all-metal aircraft in its class for ten years. The SportCruiser’s excellent flight characteristics, superior performance, and panoramic canopy make it a true joy to fly. All of this and direct operating costs of less than $25 per hour make the SportCruiser an exciting aircraft we just love to work with.
    Thrust Flight makes it easy and affordable to own your own SportCruiser with flexible financing options and our SportShares Fractional Ownership Program. Why be the owner of another sports coupe in traffic when you can own the “sports coupe of the sky” and soar through vast, open skies? Just call us when you want to fly, and we’ll have your plane gassed up, washed, and waiting for you on the ramp.
    Because of our role as importer and distributor, we are able to run a flight school using a fleet of new or nearly new SportCruisers equipped with state-of-the-art equipment and glass cockpit technology with lower costs and rates than typical flight schools with their 40-year-old aircraft plagued by maintenance issues.
    Thrust Flight also extends our unique brand of customer service to maintenance and parts support for all SportCruiser and PiperSport owners in the U.S. We maintain an in-house inventory of most parts and can usually deliver the next day. Also at your service are our Thrust Flight technicians who’ll take the time to talk to you and help diagnose problems, identify the correct parts and suggest operational ways to improve performance. Thrust Flight is the authority for maintaining your SportCruiser or PiperSport. We have more experience rebuilding, maintaining, and assembling these aircraft than anyone else in the country! All of our friendly maintenance personnel are factory trained to maintain your aircraft to the highest level.
    But we’re anything but one-dimensional! We also have more traditional aircraft like the Cessna 172 (G1000), Cessna 310 light twin, American Champion Xtreme Decathlon, and Bellanca Super Viking available for advanced ratings. We service a variety of aircraft, not just SportCruisers. Our techs are true GA guys with lots of experience.

    As someone who's just started my private license (10 hours in) I just wanna share my experience for anyone else who might be looking to get started. The learning curve for flying is steep as is, and for every 2 hour lesson (1 hour of flight) I probably study 3 to 5 hours a day as well to really grasp the concepts I'm executing. To people saying they can't afford to invest the time, I'd come back at them saying is flying something you can really afford to rush? Anyway, maybe this has worked for some people, but I'd be apprehensive myself!

    I can remember having mental fatigue after just a 90 minute lesson. I wonder how much the student pilot would remember after a 8 hour lesson.

    • @CreQ
      @CreQ Před 7 lety +13

      Exactly. The only people who should be taking accelerated courses are the ones who already know their shit, but just don't have certifications saying that they know it. I feel sorry for the wannabe pilots who don't have a clue about what's involved in flying.
      Think about just a drivers license. Do you think you could have been taught both the written exam, and how to drive a vehicle that you've never operated even once before, both in the same 2 week period in 8 hour days of 5 hours of driving and 3 hours of instruction? Of course not.
      Flying is a lot more complicated. You don't need to radio someone that you're leaving your driveway and what path you're taking to work today and whether or not you're going for an egg mcmuffin this morning. There's no aerodynamic stall, no tow truck in the sky, when your engine dies you can't just pull over to the side of the road, there are clearly marked lanes, you don't have to land, etc etc etc.
      Just imagine if you had to drift your car (fishtail) to park into a parking stall every time, that's what landing is like. Even new pilots with a year or two of experience can forget how to land and go through months of having to relearn the instincts.
      Don't get me wrong, I could probably teach you how to be a half decent driver in that time, but if you didn't know the laws you're not going to absorb them long term in those 2 weeks while driving 5 hours a day and sitting through 3 more of instruction. You're also not going to get a lot of time to 'brew' this information in your mind and connect it to experience.
      Thinking about accelerated 'training' programs like this makes me scared to be near small airports, lol =)

    Also if you don't mind,
    1. Can you make a video of where to take the FAA Written Test?
    2.Where can I get my Student Pilot Certificate? Is it after the FAA Written Test?
    3.For the FAA Medical, can it be any clinic? For drivers license, can it be a license outside of Texas, like Colorado? Or is this program only offered to Texans?
    The Passport I have.
    4. I noticed in one of the comments you mentioned the price being $9,500. Does this include the plane rental, the 1 on 1 instructor on air flight, and the class?

    • @ThrustFlight
      @ThrustFlight  Před 7 lety +12

      Hi TheWiseMan! Thanks for your questions.
      We'll certainly add that to the video to-do list! In the meantime, you can take your written test at any approved FAA testing center. The two companies that support FAA pilot testing are C.A.T.S. and Lasergrade. A visit to either website will lead you to a directory of testing center locations.
      Student pilot certificates must be gotten through I.A.C.R.A. This is the FAA's new website for processing pilot licensing. You must apply through the I.A.C.R.A website for a student pilot certificate, then have a local flight instructor log into the same site using his login information, find your application, and approve it. You can get your student pilot certificate at any time; you don't need it before taking the written test but you will need it before you solo.
      For the medical it's not just any clinic. You must go through the FAA's medical website to find a DME (or Designated Medical Examiner). Call their office and they will give you instructions on preparing to take the medical.
      The $9500 includes everything! Many accelerated students finish at or below the $9500 while some go over budget a little but this is a fairly accurate price.
      Hopefully that answers your questions! For more information or any additional questions please feel free to call Nathan at 972-735-9099 ext. 5 or email him at Nathan@ussportaircraft.com!

    This IS doable... Especially sport pilot. But here's the thing. YOU have to be ready to work. It took me WAAAAAYYY longer to get mine... But I know EXACTLY why. I made every mistake in the book, invented a few as well. I've got over 50 hours in the SportCruiser. GREAT airplane. I actually manned a sales booth for them in the San Diego area for a buddy of mine. Read on for tips...
    You need three things to make this a reality, in my opinion.
    First, you need to be prepared. Everything they mention in the video. I'd also suggest studying a copy of the Airman Certification Standards (ACS), as well as the sport/private oral exam guide. Read the questions, write down the answers in a notebook. Have someone ask you a question, and practice answering it. The more you learn beforehand, the better.
    Second... You need good weather. That's luck to an extent, but seasonal as well...
    Third. INSTRUCTORS MATTER. Also YOU NEED A GOOD INSTRUCTOR! Having a good instructor is key as well. Yes, I know I said this three times. Hopefully, they have one that can dedicate the two weeks to you.
    One more bonus tip... Fly online in X-Plane 11. There is a SportCruiser you can download that isn't bad, but it's not the stick and rudder skills you're looking for. Log in to PilotEdge and do their CAT training program before you go. It stands for Communication/Airspace Training. It will teach you all the radio work, airspace requirements, etc... And give you a leg up. You just need a joystick and an okay gaming PC. They also have IFR ratings... It's pretty damned cool.
    Good luck all!
    Ron

    To all aviation fanatics, like to give you short scenario of mine and ask your honest and experienced opinions.
    I am 50 years old, and due to lack of timing, job, etc. I starred the training urge very late in early 2014. I am from upstate NY, NYC to be exact which you can imagine, closes airfield is 1 hour drive and weather, and restriction on the air fields, my location is not suitable for training. I had my due delegacy research and went down Miami to see the existing training schools in 2015 spring. Needles to say, in 2015 they were charging $160 + 60 for instructor and some of them they even charging with fuel & insurance on top of that. They were the wolf of the aviation, waiting to hunt , from your pocket. I didn't feel comfortable with the schools, I reviewed almost 5 of them. Most desirable one was ATP which they were not allowing part 61 or private pilot training. In that visit to Miami, I passed the 3rd degree medical and got certificate in the time being.
    Following fall I had 3 heart stance implant which directly pushed back everything on the schedule.
    But I didn't stop ground study thru sporty and internet sources, I signed up to Aviation seminars weekend ground training school in MD. After the weekend training I took the exam and failed with 68. Until that time I had no flight time. Following spring I made another trip but this time I concentrated on Orlando and vicinity. Prices were anywhere between $150 with no glass cockpit to $185 with GS1000 instructor rates was from $50 to $85 the most. Major airline focused schools was located at Daytona area, I also visited them one by one.
    I have to admit, as you indicate in your post, they had great adds, mind blowing promising but once you showed up , most of them was totally messed up. I visited Aorism, which out of all the flight schools in the area they have the most fleet with offering only part 141. Next in the list I found out great deal of professionalism was Epic Flight academy which also focused on part 141. Next one on the list was Flight Training professionals which wasn't offering accelerated program, but They got high marks at AOPA school list 2 years in row. Most interesting flight school that I came across was Sun State Aviation. Great building, nice equipment, ands new fleet but milking your pocket attitude.
    With their rate $228 -with GS1000 cockpit + $79 CFI, they were the most expensive school in that entire Orlando area. That wasn't just the price, they were also forcing the training for you to stay in extended hours for their students which I found out after I had conversation with their 3 active student. Next stop was Tailwheels Etc. flight school which the only one which eagerly offering accelerated training in the area. I contacted with them couldn't even get definite answer to visit their facility neither they had enough plane for the training also their CFI's was on part time bases. After spending thousands $ and time, search was discouraging. I gave one more changes and targeted AOPA listings on 2014 and 2015 of best schools. I found another candidate at
    Ft Myers, Paragon flight school. They were the only one, didn't ask me upfront payment nor student pre-paid account. Back then they had $150 for the plane & $50 for the instructor. Young crew, and had several AOPA honor list instructors. The conclusion was the final approach for me to review the school. Their down sides, their CFI are very young and they were eagerly jumping to the airline by building hours at the schools. After these search and reviews I went back to NY and signed up accelerated weekend class at American Flyers weekend schools in NJ. Class was great and informative, but you have to study on the side though cannot rely on only their study. They are using experienced and old time pilots that have thousands of hour's experience. My unfortunate path stopped with FAA rejection on my cardiologic test. Then they required more test results such as additional stress test, full medical history etc. The they gave me 3 months to complete.
    After a year and half I had to stopped by FAA this time. I waited but couldn't take the test, due to unknown future on my flight path. I hope I could get repeat class from them, which I am was told could it be done.
    I recently passed the medical test which I have valid certificate until 2018 thank god.
    What happened in the mean time; I reviewed and felt the one thing :
    without dedicating least a month or so there will be no pilot certificate. Couple hours of flying every here and there, won't give me any boost.
    I decided to delicate my time and $ to take off from my work and life on up state and move to Florida sun shine state for training. Needles to say, I focused on Paragon flight school and visited them recently. The only change and down side that I noticed was the CFI crew got much younger with less flight hours. This detail made me worry, because young guys mostly focusing on their carrier path more than teaching ability. In the same token, many maneuver or case study is taking place while you and your CFI is on the control rather than playing the scenario with his/ her experience and learning the outcome in details. Learning as you fly , should be your target not your CFI's. The other issue was, I haven't got clear $ estimation nor average time and cost for the solo and the completion of the training from the previous pilots that they got their certificates from the school.
    But schools have good feedback and reputation and have well maintained fleet. I believe will be good fit.
    After all this short story of mine, would like to know if anyone out here read this has experience with the school , any suggestion or recommendation on CFI whom they had training previously. Anyone had solo with the school, how many hours it took for them, my main focus and aim is least 2 hours of flight time a day min.
    Of course depends on the weather. Also any recommendation for the area, airports , cross country flights, in that regards perhaps any lead that you might experienced on your flight training that you may direct/ suggest to newly starters as myself... Thank you ...

Fact number 1: The rate loss of German WW2 pilots was ~16.5% average (Peaks and valley's depending on the year and field of operation). So if the factual statistic is applied to your argument, you would be ok with an 17% annual loss of life as long as the learning curve is short.

      Yes, we can do accelerated IFR training! Training every day, around 4-5 hours per day, we can get you your instrument rating in two weeks (weather permitting)!
      Here at US Sport Aircraft we can get you your instrument rating for much less than at other flight schools because you can fly up to 25 hours of the required 40 hours of dual instrument instruction in the SportCruiser at just $185 per hour (including instructor). The remaining 15 hours of dual instrument instruction can be accomplished in our Cessna 172 G1000 at $219 per hour (including instructor). If you want to do all 40 dual hours in the 172 you can do that as well!
      You can expect to pay around $9,500-$10,500 for our program - and that's with 25 hours of ground instruction built in. If you don't need 25 hours of ground instruction, that price tag will drop even more!

    • @ThrustFlight
      @ThrustFlight  Před 7 lety +4

      Hi David! It's certainly possible, otherwise we wouldn't offer the program! It's an intense two weeks filled with lots of flying and instruction, and while most students in the program chose it because their normal schedule would have never allowed enough regular flying to get their PPL, there are those who simply prefer it to standard training because of how fresh each lesson is in their minds every day. Ensuring a solid foundation is precisely why we don't (and won't) guarantee that students will finish in exactly two weeks - we will never send a student into a checkride with a "crumbly" foundation. If you like the idea of accelerating training but think you'd want to spread out the training a little, our programs are fully customizable! We can plan a schedule for a three- or four-week accelerated course if that better suits your schedule or learning style. If you're still skeptical, give Nathan a call at 972-735-9099 and he'll be happy to speak with you about the program! Thanks for watching!

This would require flying several hours a day, which is just plain not productive. There is only so much one can absorb in a day. After too instruction in one day, the student just stops learning and becomes a passenger really.

    • @sluxi
      @sluxi Před 2 lety

      Might depend on the country. I know there was a case where a student pilot did 5+ hours of flight training on a single day (part of it with instructor and part solo) here in Finland and crashed on the final landing. Fatigue was cited as one factor in the accident investigation but lack of any prior experience flying solo and doing a demanding long solo flight at the end of the day was probably the main issue. It's possible the rules could have changed after that but it was relatively recent.

    A realistic PPL (or SPL) course consists of 6-9 months, incl. the full theory part, radio exam, rainy days and everything that will go wrong on the way. The people promising to cram this down to 4 weeks are already unreputable. Does anyone really believe a 2-weeks-course is a way to go? It might sound great for a rookie who is hungry for flying but everyone with a license in his pocket knows what to think of schools like this. The only way I could somehow imagine is when you have a pilots license already and you want to transition to SEP/SPL. Sorry to burst the bubble but if it sounds too good to be true, it probably is. The waiting period for an examiner/checkride is often a full week on its own.

    • @ThrustFlight
      @ThrustFlight  Před 6 lety +2

      Hi Elija Matt! Though many people are skeptical of receiving your certificate in 2 weeks, it can be done and we have many students who succeed. Our Accelerated Course is built upon the understanding that it will be a full-time commitment in both flying and studying at home. While it's true that the waiting period for an examiner can be long and drawn out, our students can usually be scheduled 2-3 days from sign off as we have a DPE on staff and a great relationship with our local FSDO. Thanks for the comment and thanks for watching!

Simulators can be invaluable tools, but if you want to become a Learjet pilot the first step to getting there is flight training to become a pilot. Once you're a commercial pilot, you will then need to get a specific type rating for the airplane you want to fly. Thanks for watching!

      @ThrustFlight  Před 7 lety

      Felix, thank you so much for the questions! Our accelerated program can be accomplished in either aircraft, however, our published prices are built around the SportCruiser. It's your choice really! The SportCruiser is the aircraft of choice for a private or accelerated program because of it's cost effectiveness. It's really not necessary to train for either in a 4 seater aircraft (C-172) unless of course you just are partial to that aircraft. The SportCruiser aircraft is $40 less per hour to operate than the $172, but again, its really up to you which airplane you would like to train in. Please let me know if you have any other questions. I will include my email on this response. Nathan@ussportaircraft.com. Talk with you soon!

      We cannot accomodate non-US citizens at the moment unfortunately. But I mean if you are a US Citizen we will take you. We don't like, turn you away just because you're Indian. That would be insane.

    While this seems like a great idea on paper, the caliber of pilot churned out at the end of this is questionable. Coming to you guys they really only have to pass the oral and written tests and then cert, that being said crammed learning for this industry I would suggest is unsafe and not realistic. Enjoyed the video though, it’s a good edit.

      Hi Sameer! The FAA requires you to either be a US citizen with a valid passport or go through the Transportation Security Administration's (TSA) AlienFlight Student Program to begin flight training. You can do so at www.flightschoolcandidates.gov/
      Because no two student pilots are alike, what you pay to get your pilot's license will vary from student to student. US $9,500 will cover 40 hours of flight time, but some student pilots will need more time and some will need less (if going for their sport pilot license). You should expect to pay between US $8,500-$10,500 for you accelerated training at US Sport Aircraft. Thanks for your comment!

    How can i write my faa exams before all this?

    • @ThrustFlight
      @ThrustFlight  Před 7 lety

      Hi Felix! In order to become a pilot, you’ll need to pass both the FAA written test and the FAA practical test (or "checkride").
      You can study for the written test on your own, get ground instruction at a flight school, or pay for an online ground school - it's up to you and your budget. Our typical accelerated course asks students to have already completed their written test because it is a standard knowledge test that you can pass by studying on your own without a single hour of flight time. It also helps ensure that accelerated students can begin the course with at least a basic understanding of the concepts and knowledge required to become a pilot, greatly increasing the efficiency of the program. If students were to attempt to get their pilot certificate in two weeks without passing their written exam first, it would make it very difficult and would probably not finish in time. Of course, if you already live in the Dallas, TX, area, you are welcome to take your ground school at US Sport Flight Academy before you begin the accelerated program! Cool. Does the sports pilot license look like "LAPL"? That is the one here I guess. (LAPL being Light Aircraft Pilot Licence).

    • @ThrustFlight
      @ThrustFlight  Před 7 lety

      Hi Zoey! Different countries and different parts of the world have different definitions and regulations of light aircraft. In June 2011, the European Aviation Safety Agency published CS-LSA Certification Specifications for Light Sport Aeroplanes. This introduced a new category of manufactured sport aeroplanes similar to the light-sport category found in the USA and elsewhere. Light aircraft pilot licence (LAPL) is a pilot license allowing the pilot to fly small aircraft in Europe.
