I forgot his name. No joke, this guy is super fast, but he has zero ego, all he cares about is passing on his experience, knowledge and above all love of riding in everyday man's terms. Great presenter. Needs a TV role. Fantastic!! Matt in Sydney👊✊
Thanks Matt, we are on TV BTW. Do you get Motorvision in Aus? We have our own Amazon Prime channel. we're on SKY in the UK and Motorvision around the rest of the world.
If a GSX-R is good enough for Chris, let alone Ghostrider, then it's good enough for us.👍
👨👩👧❤
EXACTLY!!!
This guy is a great presenter and really enjoyable to watch! Nicely done.
Cheers
yep. Absolutely.
When I moved from C to B group I found that I needed to change the pads, lines, and master cyclinder. When I moved to A group I found I needed to change the rear shock and front suspension. Other things I needed to do along the way was Power Commander and Headers. Sure, maybe someone with more experience than me can ride it stock in A group, but the bike stock in A group would have been extremely difficult. Mine on the dyno did 186hp; Other than that, I love my GSXR1000R. Wiped out twice in 2 years while learning and it was cheap and easy to fix.
Best motorcycle journalist I've watched in a long time, great work. Love the gixxers....
Thanks!
I can’t believe he completely glossed over about how rubbish even the upgraded stock brakes feel on the 2020 bike. So much for being VFM! Suzuki 🤷🏻♂️
@@desidudev We didn't gloss over anything, we were testing brake pads all day and had no issues.
Always brilliant advice Chris, clearly and concisely delivered. I'm an instructor in Mondello in Ireland, and am happy to share this video on our track day page for newbies to view. Nice one!
Best video on this bike. Awesome review. I have a 2018 gsxr 1000R that I just bought two months ago. I had my K5 for more than 10 years. This new bike blew me away leaving the dealership. I couldn't stop laughing my ass off after hammering the throttle. It pulled so hard. I wasn't expecting it to be that much more powerful. The mid range is so mean and it just turns to pure evil on the top. I test drove the a few of the top 1000cc a year or so ago. This bike felt more powerful, way easier to handle, way, way more comfortable and just felt extremely special compared to the rest. I couldn't be happier with this bike. You forgot to mention Suzuki typical reliability. My previous gsxr were all incredibly reliable. The K5 had 57k on it when I sold it. I hope this current version are as robust as the old. Simply amazing machine
Great, honest, fun video. You do not win trackdays! You are there to learn and have fun. And you don't need the latest/greatest to do it. Cheers.
Awesome review! Thank you. I’m an ex Suzuki factory racer from the mid 90’s. 🇦🇺
@SUCCESS MONEY GUIDES Nice Spam
Great video, bumped into you at CC when you did the zx6r vid and you took the time to have a good chat - appreciate it! 👍
I bought my 2020 Suzuki GSX-R1000 in July brand new for +-£11 000 , they had them on special, I could not be happier. I upgraded from a K4 750 which I still have and love, but the power of the 1000 is just intoxicating.
are there any differences between 2019 and the 2020 model?
Brilliant, halfway changing my 2017 Blade to a track bike , new suspension, deleted ABS, race fairings , will watch your next vid with interest 👍🏻
Yep same, 100% watched and very enjoyable and informative, also have road Philip island, (live in Melbourne, moved from London 6 years ago,)
I done it in slow group on an MT07 being passed all day but absolutely loved it, it don’t matter what bike, it’s all about the attitude, get that right you win every time.
Great vid, thanks.
Thanks Chris for another solid gold track day tutorial.
Substantial, succinct, and practical.
You, John and the BW team continue to create class leading motorbike content. Much appreciated.
Thanks
Another fantastic video. Makes a lot of sense, pleasure to watch.
Down to earth and in-depth discussion on how us mortals should prepare, setup and enjoy a track day! Have always been a Gixxer fan and am currently riding a GSX-S1000F; a kinder, comfy sport bike😊
I was shopping for liter bike and my choices were R1M, s1000rr, fireblade and this gsxr1000r. My first choice is ofcourse s1000rr but I asked myself to do I need to spend that kind of money to have fun. And this guy Chris Northover and Sylvain Guintolli makes my choices narrow to GSXR1000r. My first bike was suzuki TS125 in '90s. Suzuki holds a great memory in me.
Cool, let us know how you get on. Cheers
Thank you for this tutorial Chris. You are the best!
Great great review and track day video. My take is to pick the bike you love and share a fun day with it at the park. It is one of your best friends, so treat it like one and have a blast. Excellent, well said.
What an enjoyable video Chris you had that gixxer singing its head off 💪💪
Awesome video, mate. You even made me want to ride this beast over any other ‘top-notch’ bikes out there!
I loved the video. I watched all the way through.
Cheers
@SUCCESS MONEY GUIDES Awesome, more Spam
Excellent videos these. Really clear to listen to as well
Absolutely fantastic video! Thank you! 🤙🏽
I must say you are bloody brilliant mate.
What an excellent, informatibe vid. Cant remember I enjoyed a vid this much. Keep it up👍🏻👍🏻👍🏻
Jarques Barnard Cheers
I think I just witnessed a man fall in love with a GSX-R
The creation... Of a gixxer bro.
Hey I just want to say thank you for your valuable info.
Good show. i started with a beater for a few years and moved to a Fuel Injected 750SS which is 18 yrs old bike. The Carb on my beater and ethanol just kept having issues.Again for cheap money. Ohlins and Sticky tires and that is all the bike has.... but a tonne of fun. One of the problem i am having is spending more than few days of my income on a total loss item. I do not cheap on gear, airbag systems or helmet as it is personal safety.
Nice black line left at 3:22.. go on son!!!!😂🤘
Brilliant video as always and the content that’s not out there. Plenty of newbie guides but nothing inters rider.
If you ever want to do a feature on a middle aged track day enthusiast that’s hit a wall with bad habits and can’t quite make it to the fast group, I’m here 👋
Awesome vid!
Very very good tutorial I have to subscribe after watching this very informative very professionally done great advice
Thanks Aston, glad you enjoyed it.
That colorway on that R is dope 👌
Great vid, very entertaining. Love a GSXR too & had a couple of the years & they were great bikes. Especially the 750.
Thanks!
Which years? This 2020 is looking very promising, must say
@@madskillzyo A 1997 GSXR600 SRAD & a 2006 750, which was immense.
What a great video !
Thanks.
Love a gsxr
Quality 👍👍
9 yrs owning one 👍😍
Mate that was a great track daybreak and you are so right about the gsxr 1000. It's just a great allrounder I couldn't agree with you more.
Great stuff mate.
Grate Video! Now you should talk to Sylvian Guintoli and try to get you hands on his GSXR1000R track bike he is just build and compere it to the your stock GSXR1000R! Ps I still miss my GSXR1000K4 for me it is the most underrated GSXR!! It is an absolute steal compered to K5/6 yes its a bit more heavy and a bit less powerful but it's much cheaper and just as quick for a quick road rider on a track!! I loved mine did track days on as well as European trips and some. Epick bike for the money!! I'm looking forward to more track day /GSXR1000R content!! Ps I agree with You for the money it's the best 1000cc sport bike out there!
GSXR 💪♥️
I like this guy. You can ride what ever you like
Vans are great! Freaking love my big orange van. Not only are track days easier, so is if you break down on the road, your friends need help, or heck, you need anything else big moved. So nice. Get a van 😄
@7:18 - "we'll tape the mirrors up...." -- very next cut is the bike on the track with the mirrors in all their reflective glory!!! Regardless, another great vid!
People forget about this bike sometimes. Its an absolute peach - motor and gearbox are superb.
I was in inters on the same day made me feel I was going backwards 🤣 fair play 💨
Great video!
Excellent video 👍🏻
The best track day bike is the one you dont mind crashing
That's a first world thing mate - everywhere else you do mind crashing your bike, whatever bike it is ;-)
If you want to see how good those rain tyres are, pause the video at 10:23, and you can see the line that the rider took through the curve. The tyre has dried the track, it's that good at removing water.
Nice video and oh the gsxr is my dream bike.
Awesome review 👍🏾💯🏍🇬🇧
I think the current gsxr is a hard bike to beat especially for the money
👍 Great video
Really good video
Gsx r is a classic 👌
Very correct mate,
we would also like your opinion on the bmw s1000 rr 2020 if you can have it for a track test. congratulations again.
I don’t know if it’s the greatest ever but it’s the best one I have ridden.
The Suzuki with Brembo calipers and Nissin Master Cylinders benefit greatly upgrading to Brembo 19 RCS Master Cylinder.. it was one of my fave mods. Also, the slotted race version of Galfer Wave Rotors have much more bite and little to no fade.
There’s nothing wrong with the standard discs, seeing as they’re made by Brembo anyway.
Love me some gsxr!
Suzuki PLEASE bring this color for 202x to the US. I've been holding off buying the GSXR1000R to get it with the upgraded brakes after 2019.
Great video, excellent work. I wish i had Chris as my bike instructror here in Greece.
We are due to come to Greece for the Hellas, not sure if it's going to happen though...
@@BikeWorldTVshow When and where will it take place? (If it's going to happen)
@@fanisasimakopoulos9977 We're not sure if it's going to happen, or if we'll want to make the trip. We were due to ride all the way but it's seems irresponsible to do that during the current situation. Here are the details: hellasrally.org/
@@BikeWorldTVshow Thanks for the info. Keep up the great work.
I ride a GSXR 750 K7 on track and i just love it. i can't really see a reason to buy a newer or fancier bike for the job. plus its reasonable cheap that the fear of crashing it wont hold me back. got a few videos from Ring knutstorp on my channel :-)
As we said, the best bike for you is the one you enjoy riding the most.
K7 750 for life!
Best bikes.....period!
Love mine 😎✊🏼🏆
Me too! They are 👌🏾
I'm looking at tracking next year
18:03 Chris, that might be the best part of the day... ;)
GSXR nice
Hello, you mentioned that you changed your brake fluid as often as your engine oil? Your bike has ABS, does the bleeding create a big issue with air. Heard horror stories that a mechanic had taken over 4hrs. due to trying to get the air out of the system due to having ABS.
Thank You
👍👍👍👍👍suzuki 👍👍👍👍👍
Its got the best power to weight ratio for the price
I downgraded from a 2016 R1 to a 2007 GSXR 750 and I've never looked back. Without the background constant nag that I might smash up thousands of quids worth of R1, I'm riding faster and harder and having far more fun. With just some light upgrades on the suspension and brakes, the Gixer 750 is the perfect dedicated track bike in my opinion
Perfect!
Even with less horsepower Gixxers just have something that makes them fast. They're easy to get fast. My 15' 750 had tuning and I extended the rear 15 mm and that thing spanked a lot of bikes that should have destroyed me. I think they're just easy to ride fast, which says a lot.
i recently just got rid of my 2020 r6 due to needing money for moving and ive got the riding bug and am planning on buying this what do you guys think of it for daily use
CHRIS... Any tips on suspension tuning for track use??? clicks out??? weight as a guide 90kg?? tire pressures??
kobsak chinawongwatana Hey, we didn’t consider going into detail with suspension setup, needs a video in itself.
Couldn't agree more. Be nice to slow riders. Give'em plenty of rooms. I am one of them
Forgive me for asking - this guy was a famous pro racer or a dirt bike rider ?
That's right Gixxer s boyz all day
When you say it's missing that last "miniscule" bit of performance...what are you saying it's actually missing compared to the top tier bikes?
is there an issue with the brake of the GSXR?
do you have your gear linkage threads taped?
Hello, I own a 2020 GSX-R1000R and would like to know what trackers are setting their front forks at. Either from bottom of cap or top of cap from fork tubes.
Thank You
Drop the forks through the yokes 10mm. Get a decent steering damper while you’re at it. I use a Bitubo steering damper on mine. I also have a Maxton rear shock and fork cartridges. Blows the standard suspension away 😊
Yeah its the gixxer for me, it has what the s1000rr doesn't have "personality"
Good video, but sir you are incorrect saying GSX-R’s have never really been the fastest on the track lol... tell that to Mat Mladin, Ben Spies
In comparison in GSX-R 1000 between from K1 to the latest model which is the best of all could u name it
The 2017 up is better than any previous versions.
2017 onwards in first place, then second place for the K5/K6.
Is it me or does it have a black and green dash?
First ever, first view and comment👍
Ask any good motorcycle mechanic, Suzukies cost less to work on because it was designed to come apart easily ie: plug change 10min
The forks are blue! Hahahahaha!
How the hell you got 204 hp with factory exhaust ?
Do you think K5 is faster than this new gen? :D
It isn't.
No.
Not even close.
no ways, but either way you have to be brave to exploit it.
Buy an already prepped trackbike. I have a 2007 cbr 1k, paid $2500. I replaced all the front brake (master, lines and calipers) and added a slipper clutch, nothing else. Still runs like a top and is a blast, yeah new stuff is faster, but so what. Bonus no insurance costs, tax, title any of that bs.
@bikeworld what tyre sizes do you use 190/55 or 200?
They were 190/55's
@@BikeWorldTVshow ah ok, and you felt good leaning and going round corners?
@@eze1738 It was fine, Chris had no issues.
Can I ask what size rear tire you were running?
They were 190/55's.
Bike World ... that’s what I run on my Suzuki.. thank you 👍
Great great!! Couldn't be happier with mine!!
Hit like if you like GSXRs!
Thanks for the like! Hit subscribe to see more content if you like! 🔥
I dont think the GSXR has over 200 hp stock ? More like 180 stock standard.
Why would someone dislike this video? Beats me🙄
There's only 3, no big deal. Thanks
Gsxr haters!!!
Can't you pull the ABS fuse?
I removed the ABS on mine altogether.
I know people have complained about brake fade on the GSXR 1000, did you do anything to the bike to address that?
Have you watch all the way through Scott?
