- Just bought a kukri machete for doing brush work, mostly because it's more fun that way, but also I hope it just makes the work go faster than using a saw and hatchet. I've wanted a kukri since I was a kid and it's fun to finally get to try one without breaking the bank. This one cost me $22.28 on Amazon.
NOTE: I say in the video that there would be another video testing the blade coming. By unfortunate circumstance I had to move out of the nice house and yard I had and into a small apartment so I haven't had any time or the right space to get out and use it. I may in the future, but for now this is all you get!

I have used the same one without the guard for 20 years....great little machete
I used to own one but left it in someone's vehicle after a long day. I miss it. Came with a factory edge (very dull) but after I put some work into it, it was incredible in the bush
the guard also allows thrusting with it to be much more practical cause it stops your hand from sliding on to the edge when doing so.
Nepalese Gurkha have had no issues using kukris without guards for well over a thousand years.....but what do the most feared close combat soldiers in the world know right?
Best Buy for the Buck hands down , excellent for what you need it for and more . It will do Gurkha work also ,very quick in the hand.
Nice vid, brother! looking forward to seeing how it holds up to some usage. I'm in the market for a machete... might try swingin' that thing around some to see how I like it!
I don't comprehend why people always talk about the sharpness from the factory. You have to sharpen any blade hundred times in its lifetime anyway.
A matter of preference I suppose, but when I buy something I want it to work out of the box, no matter if I might have to do maintenance down the road. Fit and finish is one thing, but actual function is something else. This knife has one basic job - to cut things. If it can't cut things because it's not sharp enough, that is a fundamental flaw in the product and something worth noting. I also wouldn't like buying a car with only a fluid ounce of gas in it. Sure, I'm gonna have to fill up the car many times over the course of it's life, but it really is essential to the car operating properly.
Looks like a counterfeit (a poor copy) of the real - with the same name -to me. Wrong?
HI Mr. John Deans, I'm wondering if the lanyard hole goes threw the metal of the machete or just threw the Plastic? And, How do you feel about it now after some time working with it? Do you still favor it or not? Thanks for any info you can give....
It's through the plastic handle. this knife is not full tang. I like it for general machete work, but it's worth noting that it's light and thin like a machete, it's not a traditional thick and heavy Kukri. It DEFINITELY didn't come sharp, so be prepared to put some time into giving a decent edge. Other than that, it's a great price and I think it'll last a long time.
Thanks for your answer : )
0k. Thanks. I don't own this machete and was asking to maybe see IF I wanted to buy it or not.
is it possible to make a belt loop for the sheath?
it has one
as the replier mentioned, it does have one, but it's a simple cordura loop. You could certainly improve it by attaching something to that loop if desired.
John Deans Thank you good man 👍👍👍
is that a cold steel roach belly you used to open the package?
It's a cold steel canadian belt knife!
John Deans sweet! thanks I couldn't tell at the distance and angle I love my cold steel Canadian belt knife
