Thanks Jim, I thought I knew all about cuts. Turns out I didn't. Appreciate you taking the time to dig all these hidden gems out and explaining how they worked.
They changed the way that works. If you click on a clip and press the X key on the keyboard, the program will select that clip as a range for you. The trim blocks will reappear. You can drag them to another location if you want. If you press ESC they will disappear. This is the revised way of selecting a range. --Jim
I hate to take up your time, but I need serious help. I only started editing a few months ago, and thought I was slowly getting there, but I don't know computes and stuff. Do you have a good video about the data flow for the program, if I am saying that right? Now that I have made a few videos, I went to reorganize my files not realizing I would disconnect everything, and I lost the projects I was working on because I didn't realize that would disconnect all the files from my projects and I am at a loss. I don't have a clue how to bring files in and sort them for easy use later while keeping them connected to my project. I appreciate you are busy, but if you have a video on this, I would love to know!!
I don't have a particular video on this, but you have given me an idea for something I could make. The key with PowerDirector or any other NLE editor is to decide where you want the files before you start your project. PowerDirector records the file location and then works with the files non-destructively. You can pack a project so everything stays together. What it does is create a copy of your original videos and other components in a new folder. So everything is together. But it does consume more spaces since it makes duplicates. Here is an older video on how to pack a project so the elements are together. czcams.com/video/iQIVOkyDPKM/video.html --Jim
@@SharperTurtle I will watch, thank you!!! So i there a way to also keep features together in a separate place so you can go back to find them easily to use them again?
There are all kinds of ways to organize audio files, video files, and image files. I store them in folders on an SSD drive and try to organize them so they make sense to me. You can group them any way you like. PowerDirector doesn't care. You can group them by subject matter, date, job, or whatever works best in your environment. Just remember that if you re-locate them you will have to re-establish the link in PowerDirector. It can't know where you might have moved them itself. Hope this helps. --Jim

Wow! Excellent information, thank you sir! I've been doing this the hard way...no longer! 👍
So glad to help you speed up your editing time. --Jim
After the recent update, I lost the two trapezoid trim blocks on the playhead or cursor shown here @0:31 Any suggestions?
