It’s definitely a rude awakening when you realize all of the BS that goes on in the workplace. ICU nursing is easier than med surg but 3 in a row is rough either way.
Ive been working 12 hrs mon-fri 10hrs on Saturday and 8hrs on Sunday and we work through lunch on Sundays. I won't have a day off till Thanksgiving. Yesterday I walked 12 MILES and 11 the day before. This is a daily occurrence for me. All I can say is get some good shoes y'all
*Serious question; is it really necessary to work that many hours in a day? What type of home/work life is that, especially if you have children? I worked as a nurse in LTC but left to start my own business (Healthcare Recruitment firm). I love that I'm able to spend time with my boys and just have my mental sanity, lol. I salute you and all the other nurses who work nonstop because I could never do it, at least not while my children are still living at home, lol.*
@@Nicole215 oh I'm not a nurse. I work in the movie industry. I don't have any kids either so that part doesn't effect me. I do it because the money is good. But I do have a lot of respect for the healthcare workers out there.

@@autumn399 From my perspective working 3 in a row takes a toll on you. You will spend the next 2-3 days recuperating. In my case, I worked nights so I always felt like I was missing a day. The schedule will be made by the head nurse or manager in order to balance the staff so your work days will vary. You might not have too much control of which days you work unless they allow staff to put their schedule in. You will have stretches of time off that are great when it happens and the 3 day work week does allow you time to do things during the week. Overall, I liked 12 hour shifts but I’m in home care now and not sure how they are managing the nursing shortage. Hope that helps.

I have so much respect for nurses. I just spent a week in the hospital and three of those days was the same day nurse she had five other patients besides me and was 7-7 three days in a row. She was so sweet and respectful and made me feel so cared for. I'll never be able to thank her enough. Thank you nurses for doing this job. You guys are seriously superheroes. ❤️

The was self made I grew on a farm, he was self. He owned 300 acres of land, we provided for his family on his farm. He never punched a time clock. Also, he had 100 herd of cattle. He had horses! I had a little mg comment but if y disappeared Thankyou for bringing the plight of Nurses to the front to discuss everything we have held in. At least some Of us have. I heard more than once than Head Managers had to find so Something’s in someone’s nursing to write up Or it would look bad if they didn’t . I heard it a lot. Then I experienced the constant harassment of an impaired Medical Director. I think Nursing is a great profession always has been. We were so abused back in the 80’s and 90’s.

I ain’t doing this no more. My health got worse and the body aches from this line of work is excruciating. Covid made me open my eyes. I worked while sick and did they care, No! I was just a body. I usually do 4 in a row on medsurg. I'm literally not okay at the end of it. Usually about my last morning med pass I'm dropping everything, clumsy, and my eyes burn. I'm like yup time for me to not come back for 6 days 😂

was this all day shift ?? i don’t think i could sustain nights myself either. but i loved seeing the meal preps ! im in nursing school and i meal prep all the time. everyone looks at me crazy when i prioritize eating regularly instead of skipping them throughout the day. some days aren’t as great but i try since i work best if im fueled
Only 3? Try 5 12 with only 1 day off in-between. Mentally and physically exhausted is an understatement. Especially on days like today where I'm not able to sleep between shifts.

I worked every Friday,Saturday, and Sunday for 15 years. That also means when Christmas fell on the weekend, I got to work Christmas 3 years in a row!
