Hello everyone, Hope you all are well. Lately I’ve been working night shift and I wanted to share my routine on how I prepare my body and mind for night shift. While nights are calmer than days, it has its own struggle. For me, staying awake and not feeling like thrash is the biggest struggle. Hopefully my input is helpful. Thank you all for watching! xoxo, Kendra

It's so funny because you give us the real tea on what it is like to be a nurse but then you are smiling so deeply when you are with your patients. It's so interesting to see that you really love the job and give it your best, you're always talking about improving.

They want us to come 15-20 mins earlier, and leave 15 mins later WITHOUT pay. I care for 29 residents at the care home where I work. Medical advances have extended life but not quality. I work in a ward with all behaviour residents but it's not considered a behavioural unit. I don't live in the States but it's the same in many countries.

Most of the workplace mobbing and bullying in nursing usually happens in a hospital setting. Unfortunately the hospital attracts the very worst in nursing including the narcissistic bullying nursing. I’m a retired nurse and one of the earliest agency nurses from my locality and I trained many nurses to do this type of work so I’ve been around the block. I’ve had some workplace bullies fired before. Timeline notes really come in handy. Those who find time to stalk and bully others are full of weaknesses and they’re not doing their jobs properly and bullying is just a way for the incompetent ones to distract others from the truth. Such weak nurses are most likely to take workplace mobbing and bullying out on patients like the nurses of Carle Hospital in Champaign Illinois frequently do. They’re a liability to those who work with them, they’re a liability to any employer and they contribute to high staff turnover. There are hundreds of other nursing jobs outside of a hospital setting in which workplace mobbing and bullying is non existent, with better working conditions and better pay. We are there to help patients, protect them, and other co workers as well. We are teachers too. Today, I’ll do anything to stay out of a hospital because they’re just downright dangerous and ground zero for new nurses. I’ve had 3 years of nursing education and it’s nothing compared to real work experience for at least a decade. I urge other nurses to find work elsewhere than to stay at a job with inferior nurses who take workplace mobbing and bullying games in the workplace. These type of weak and inferior nurses are the bottom feeders of the healthcare trash can.

I truly hate the way they weaponize "time management" against nurses...especially with new nurses. I really thought the issue was with ME as the nurse not being able to handle the assignment, but as I gained experience I realized it's really not about time management at ALL. It's just another way to pin the blame of a broken system onto the nurses. Go figure

I dropped out of nursing school because I was being bullied by student nurses and saw the unethical behavior of nurses in healthcare setting. My mom works in healthcare and has told me sad stories about stuff that goes on there. Speaking of healthcare and night shift, I was once bullied so bad from the nightshift staff that id have to interact with for a few hours before my shift was over, I quit that lab job and HR as well as the administration knew what was going on. It was a large lab and everyone gossiped like crazy. I suspected one of the girls that would always bully me were sleeping with and trying to date and ex boyfriend and it was later confirmed that indeed she was. Such a horrible place and yet somehow not the worse lab ive ever worked in. Those rich white kids working in labs are some of the most unprofessional brats I've ever had to endure

You know what I can't figure out is, how countries who are not as wealthy are, are able to do so much more for their citizens and everyone is less stressed. If everyone is so stressed that they are taking drugs, committing suicide or shooting people, how is the country claiming that we are a success? It is ridiculous. On the coincidence thing, I feel like God is taking me out of someplace and I have to use all of my patience to endure this and get out of here.

I apologize if this question has already been asked; what would your advice be for someone considering getting their ADN? I actually live in MD, I just found your channel, and I love your videos! Ive always thought of nurses (and teachers) as hero's, that are severely unappreciated, but after watching a few videos about bullying, and the lack of protection, Im wondering if I should reconsider... my interest would eventually be in either home hospice or travel psych. Girl, you know youve got a career in consulting should you want a job on the side... I know Id pay! 😉 Thanks so much!

You’re too kind. Don’t let the content you see deter you from pursuing nursing. We are only sharing our experiences. The ADN route is the best route if you ask me. It’s cheap and once you get your state license you can pursue higher degrees. A lot of hospitals offer tuition reimbursement.

One would think if nursing student is assigned, you go through tasks by the book if shift isn’t busy. And that would be include showing how to do the med checks. Verifying orders against the vial being pulled out etc I think assuming that it was another name for versed was also in play in this. Never assume. Use google/drug library if needed to verify

Between me my mom and my dad's multiple doctors visits, blood tests, x-rays, ultrasounds, trips to the hospitals, specialist appointments and even surgeries we would've been bankrupt if we lived anywhere else where health care wasn't free. I also have to commend the nurses who took care of us...Doctors do their job which is patch people up but the nurses are the human and emotional healing that people need. Getting redman's syndrome from vancomycin is not a contraindication for getting it in the future. Patients that have this reaction should have the rate slowed. The pharmacist should have adjusted the order to a slow the rate at which the medicatio was to be administered and communicated to the nurse that the rate was adjusted due to the history of redman's syndrome. The pharmacist also should have mentioned to the nurse that the patient should be monitored. If redman's syndrome start to occur, slow the rate and administer tylenol, solumedrol, and benadryl. If it persists or gets worse stop the vancomycin and consider alternative therapy like daptomycin or zyvox.

Nurses, doctors, CNAs, RTs, PTs, housekeepers, tele techs, etc are ALL overworked and underpaid. The healthcare system is broken. When a significant portion reimbursement is based on "patient satisfaction(HCAHPS)," then hospitals morph into hotels 😒 🤔 But guess what, all the patient care services given, unlike a hotel, payment won't occur at the end of stay. Reimbursement comes months or years later or if ever. Health insurance companies, CMS??? It's a warped system 🤦

I went through something very similar at my first job, plus in a different country and still struggling with the language. Most of my colleagues would refuse to give me proper training and talk behind my back. When I had a question, they always made me feel stupid and a burden.
