What a perfect tutorial video for binding a scalloped edged quilt using bias binding! Thank you SusanClaire Mayfield. Your tutorial videos are so easy to understand and follow, your calm voice and not-too-fast pace are excellent for communicating your lesson. You’re so right, it’s exciting when you get to this stage in quilting, because you know you’re “nearly there”, as you so rightly put it. Success!! This makes me want to make bias binding for all my quilts, even the straight-edged ones, because it really does have a nice, forgiving stretch. I can’t tell you how frustrating my first two or three projects were to complete on my garment-sewing machine which did *not* have the “needle-down” function. Now that I have a new machine with exactly that (plus it has the “blanket stitch” fancy stitch for appliqué, which is why I bought this Janome C30 model), I have every confidence that my quilting game will flourish. Thanks to you and your initial instructional videos and easy-to-follow patterns SusanClaire, I should be very successful with this hobby! ~Diana K.

SUCCESS!!! With the help and video tutorials you've so graciously provided to *us* . . . I've just completed the scalloped binding on my first ever pieced quilt! I cannot thank you enough for these teaching tools. I attempted to learn quilting some 30 years ago....but I gave up because I just cannot comprehend information at a fast enough pace in the classroom. I need to be able to watch and hear the instructions over and over until things *click* for me. Bravo to YOU SusanClaire Mayfield!!!

Thank you! Thank you! Thank you! This tutorial makes perfect sense. I just made a round quilted table topper, and have been reluctant to bind it since I haven’t done curves in years. The last time I did curves was setting in sleeves for garment sewing, and that was over 40 years ago! I am going to try the binding today, after watching your tutorial. I want you to know that I watch every tutorial of yours I can find. Your teaching style and the methods you use make so much sense. I know I have become a better quilter due to your instructions.

I have a dear friend with a vintage quilt-made by her grandmother; given to her over 35 years ago and all that is lacking is the binding. It has a light printing on it for all the scallops, and now I feel confident in binding it for my friend. Thanks for this great video.

Thanks so much for this! Along with your other video about making the scallops I now feel confident enough to try my first scallop edge, something I previously thought would be too hard for me. I'm a new quilter and I've really learned a lot from your videos. You have a great straight forward way of demonstrating techniques that is easy for me to follow and understand.

Your videos are great. Wish I'd seen this before I re-bound the edge of a bought quilted throw which was too big. I'm going to take the binding off again and do it your way! You are so productive. I wonder how long does it take for you to complete a quilt from beginning to end, about the size of the quilts in this video.

With the pointed corners on the last quilt you showed, was those corners done by a mitered corner?

Loved this very informative video... I have a vintage quilt to bind and the scallop edging is deeper (scallops are bigger) so will this method still work with this versus the narrower scallop that you are binding.

Hi, this is a link to the kite block used in the quilt czcams.com/video/sVTTe3VIQnE/video.html . Binding a circle would be very similar to the scallop but no corners. Just keep going round.
