He was also known for starring in the popular films, Enemy Mine. And Jaws 3-D. Louis Gossett Jr., died on March 29, at age 87.
American actor, and football player, O. J. Simpson, died of cancer, on April 10, at age 76. His most famous role was, as Nordberg, a bumbling police officer, and friend of the main character, Lieutenant Frank Drebin, played by Leslie Nielsen, in the Naked Gun film series. As a football player, he played 11 National Football League seasons, nine of them with the Buffalo Bills, was selected to the Pro Bowl 5 times, and was the first NFL player to rush for more than 2,000 yards in a season.
American actor, Michael Emmet Walsh, died of cardiac arrest, on March 19, 2024, at the age of 88. During his 56 year acting career, he appeared in more than 230 films, and television series. He played, Bryant, in the 1982 film, Blade Runner. Private Detective, in the 1984 film, Blood Simple. Madman, in the 1979 film, The Jerk. Joe O'Neal, in the 1997 film, My Best Friend's Wedding. And Mr. Proofroc, in the 2019 film, Knives Out. The actor also appeared in many theater productions.
American Hall of Fame musician, Dickey Betts, passed away on April 18, at the age of 80. He was a founding member of the Allman Brothers Band. In 1972, he wrote one of the group's most famous songs, Jessica.
American actress, who appeared in more than 100 films, and television series, in a career spanning more than half a century, Barbara Rush, died on March 31, at age 97. She played, Margaret Freemantle, in the 1958 film, The Young Lions. Ellen Fields, in the 1953 film, It Came from Outer Space. Marian, in the 1964 film, Robin and the 7 Hoods. And Lou Avery, in the 1956 film, Bigger Than Life.
American British actor, Chance Perdomo, died in a motorcycle accident, on March 29, at the age of 27. He was best known for his starring roles in the popular television series, Gen V. And Chilling Adventures of Sabrina.
American Hall of Fame football player, and actor, Roman Gabriel, died on April 20, 2024, at the age of 83. He played in the National Football League for 15 years, was selected to the Pro Bowl 4 times, and won the NFL Most Valuable Player Award, in 1969. As an actor, he was best known for his role, as Blue Boy, in the 1969 film, The Undefeated.
English actor, Adrian Schiller, passed away on April 3, at age 60. He was best known for his roles, as Penge, in the television series, Victoria. And Aethelhelm, in the television series, The Last Kingdom.
American professional football player, Vontae Davis, was found dead at his home, on April 1, at the age of 35. The cause of his death is unknown. He played for 10 seasons in the National Football League, and was selected to the Pro Bowl, in 2014, and 2015.
Canadian-American journalist, writer, and television news anchor, Robert MacNeil, died on April 12, at the age of 93. He co-founded and co-hosted the PBS NewsHour for two decades. In 1999, he was inducted into the Television Hall of Fame.
American singer, comedian, and actor, Steve Lawrence, died from complications of Alzheimer's disease, on March 7, at the age of 88. He rose to fame in the 1950s and 1960s, with hit songs, such as, Go Away Little Girl, Footsteps, and Pretty Blue Eyes. From 1954, to 2009, he was a member of the pop vocal duo, Steve and Eydie. Steve Lawrence also acted in films, and television series. His most famous role was in The Blues Brothers, where he played, Maury Sline, manager of rival band, the Good Ol' Boys.
English singer, songwriter, and producer, Steve Harley, died of cancer, on March 17, at the age of 73. He was the frontman of the rock band, Cockney Rebel, from, 1972, to 1977. The band's most famous songs are, Make Me Smile. Big Big Deal. And Psychomodo.
German actor, Fritz Wepper, died on March 25, at the age of 82. He was known for playing, Harry Klein, in the German television series, The Police Inspector. And Derrick. As well as, Fritz Wendel, in the American film, Cabaret.
American actor, comedian, and writer, Joe Flaherty, died on April 1, at the age of 82. He was best known for his roles, as Harold Weir, in the television series, Freaks and Geeks. And Donald, in the film, Happy Gilmore.
