I have had my iPhone 8 since it came out in 2017. I just got the Pro 14 yesterday. I will say I am VERY impressed by it and I definitely think that it is a fantastic step if someone needs to upgrade cause it is definitely worth every penny. The dynamic island is actually fantastic and I don't mind it when I am watching a video or just doing normal tasks. I prefer it instead of the lip like they have on the normal 14.

US is the only country that the prices are same. Everywhere there has been a nice price hike.
They increased prices overseas by a lot. Where I live pro models now cost around 170 euros more than 13 pros.

@@dragoslavradosavljevic5828 No. Apple decided to tie all prices to USD - it is their pricing decision. They could have tied to e.g. CNY as phones are made in China when the price hike would have been a lot smaller in EU.

I currently have the iPhone SE 2nd Generation and I can't stand the battery on this thing. I love the phone otherwise but I desperately need something with better battery life. So now I'm thinking about upgrading either to the iPhone 12 (256GB) or for about $50 more upgrading to the iPhone 14 (128GB) since they are both being sold new directly by Apple. Thoughts?
I don't think Apple realizes how many people travel to the US to purchase the iPhone. Getting an iPhone outside the US is almost prohibitively expensive, so it is cheaper to travel to the US, get the phone, or even multiple phones, and then go back. So, the eSIM is going to be an issue, if abroad Phone companies do not accept it.
From the US to Africa it took like half a day. You expect me to waste one day trying to buy an iPhone?
@@jaydenleckpa8381 I mean, I’ve seen plenty of people from Argentina go to the US and do this. And depending from which country in Africa you come from it can be as long or longer of a travel. This is part of your regular touristing and shopping.

Austin, do you realise they upped the price massively in Europe? We are in inflation hell and on top of that Apple expects us to pay 1020€ for a glorified iphone 13 base model. Americans always get their apple products cheap but this difference is insanity.

I love that Samsung took Apples name for their Watch Pro. And Apple took Samsung's name with the Watch Ultra.
My educated guess on the October launch date for the 14 Plus is due to the brand new display as a display that size at only 60 hertz but with the 13 style notch has never been produced before whereas the 14 is virtually using the same exact display as the 13, therefore parts are already readily available
I recently upgraded to an s22, with the iPhone 13 as a competitor it was an easy decision between price and performance overall, but with the 14 coming out I kind of wish I waited a few months to essentially spend the same amount. Edit: I take back my statement I love my s22
You're not missing much, just upgrade every 2 to 3 years and try not to be envious with modern phones.

Apple messed themselves up by getting rid of the 'S' versions. This could easily have been the 13S.
Last year my iPhone 13 Pro with 256GB storage cost me £1049 directly from Apple. To get the equivalent iPhone 14 Pro I’d be looking at spending £1209. If I was in the market for a new phone, I’d probably hold off and get the Pixel 7 Pro in October.

I’m a dog musher and I use the Apple Watch SE one for my GPS and nothing is still rockin solid and nothing has been in water at 40 below staying in temperatures is cold is 80 below no telling when it’s hit

Was genuinely thinking of changing from my S10+ to an iPhone (this is probably the last year I can get decent trade in value for this phone) and everything from the 14 really makes me want to stay away from this generation. None of the upgrades feel worth it whatsoever, and the lack of USB-C is still frustrating

@@Junior-yx1rg because my MacBook, my iPad mini, my Switch, and my Headphones all have the same connector. I only need 1 type of cable for a trip and the convenience of that, faster charging/data speeds, and durability of the connection compared to micro-b and lightning make the connection vastly superior and highly desirable on phones. Apple refusing to implement it again is a dealbreaker for me on this phone.
Even in an all-apple ecosystem, the fact that you need 2 different kind of cables for a phone, laptop, and tablet all made by the same company is a little ridiculous

BUT I stick with Android due to my mobile phone preference 🤣 can't REALLY have one without the other 🤷🏻♂️ but it is feom what's being promised quite impressive... And who knows? Maybe someone will make an air gauge with or without divecomputer aon the hose that mirrors all to the Apple Watch under water? I.mean automatic dive log.. How cool is that?

I feel like people aren't making a big enough deal that apple is using the same processor in the 13 and putting it in the 14 and 14 max. Seriously, are you kidding me. Apple keeps taking 1 thing away every year and people keep eating it up!!
Exactly it's a big deal because now the doors left wide open. I wouldn't be surprised if next year's snapdragon chip is stronger than the a15. Apple really shot themselves in the foot with that one.
Not only that but 60hz panel as well... A budget Android phone will feel smoother to use it's sad. They do some damn good things like AirPods but they lost me as a customer quiet fast after my 13 Pro throttled like crazy and my only hope was to wait for 14 pro and hope they magically fixed it and pay another 1200€.... Yeah fuck that

My concern will be this: with the static notch the eye gets used to the shape and essentially makes it non-existent when viewing content; with the dynamic notch, the eye won't be able to make the same calculation. It seems that this might cause eye strain.
Any ophthalmologist out there to give us some guidance?

Yes. Both the iPhone 14 Pro and iPhone 14 Pro Max both have the 120hz display. (The standard iPhone 14 and iPhone 14 Plus still have the older 60hz display.)

The watch ultra is surprisingly "cheap". Considering it's all titanium, larger, gps and cellular. The series 7 titanium costs more than that

Personally I'd rather have a small hole punch then the dynamic island. Im very much pro screen real estate than face id/selfie cameras. I hope under display cameras get better so i can have all screen, all the time, with very few drawbacks. I understand why people would like the DI but I personally hate it. It's too big and distracting for watching videos ultrawide which is becoming more popular and even obnoxious to an extent because they decided to add a gimmick to it. Im betting the only reason iphones aren't usbc yet is because they want to add some sort of annoying gimmick to it to sell more chargers.

Here in the UK the 14 starts at £849. I bought my 13 Mini 3 weeks ago for £679. Absolute no regrets that I didn't wait for the new series.

Incorporating notifications into the hole punch camera is a legitimately great idea and the demo looked fantastic, fluid, and natural. Very cool idea that no one one andriod has done and it looks really smooth. But then of course they appled all over themselves by calling it dynamic island bc of course they had to call it something idiotic

My screen is 720p on my phone and it bothers me that because this video was just uploaded not 100% of the data has been synced, so every quality option from 144p to 2160p is there but not 720p
Even though I'm a Galaxy aficionado I think iPhone's cameras are somewhat better...Not enough reason for me to switch though.
The talk about price is so misinformed. Yea they kept the prices the same for the US but they hiked them up massively for the EU. Basically they fucked us over and kept the prices the same on US to avoid most of the early coverage from talking about it.
I'm from the US, but I agree y'all along with the UK(the UK even more with $1USD currently being worth 0.87GBP) are getting an extra long shaft up the backside, and I think it's going to backfire on Apple causing at least some Apple users to switch to Android over this.
I’m slowly getting sick of US-centric tech channels because of that. I get it, it’s cheaper for their region, its okay to talk about it that way if you only mention that the topic “discloses only x region and not others” - I can understand it if entire viewership of the channel is US based for example. Only problem is that usually those bigger channels are not viewed by one market only, like austin’s - so it would be great if such would start getting other markets into consideration (or at least recognize them and disclose it properly) but I suppose it’s too much hassle or plain ignorance, which steers me further away into zone-relevant channels.

Its a real shame that Apple hasn’t moved their phones to USB C. I would of considered switching to Apple from my Samsung S10+ if it did.
@@jeffsims7386 For me, its for convenience. I have multiple USB C cables lying around and the lightning cables I've had have been damaged more often than the USB C cables I've had. Its a case by case basis, so not everyone is going to agree.

Pretty much what I was thinking. I live abroad and I don't even think the carriers in my current country have an esim option so I wouldn't even be able to use the device
I don't even travel abroad, but not having a physical SIM card is a pain in the ASS as when I get a new phone(I'm an Android guy, but no hate to Apple other than price, and they just don't meet my needs), I just want to be able to pop out my current SIM on Cricket, and pop it into my new phone along with my MicroSD card, turn on the phone, sign into my Google account, let it do it's setup, and any updates, which includes installing all my aps, and then sign in to my apps, and roll, plus what if my current phone gets stolen, lost, or broken? how much of a pain will it be to do the eSIM transfer?
"Cheap" is relative. In Germany the most expensive iPhone is 2,099 Euros.
