Melilla Border Fence | Massive border wall between Spain and Morocco

  • Melilla is a Spanish city on the North African coast and shares an international border with Morocco. Not only is this a Spanish border, it is also an external border of the European Union.
    As is the case everywhere, you cannot cross the border without proper documentation. In the past, Melilla has had thousands of people breach Spanish and international law by entering the city without the required paperwork. To stop this and direct any potential visitor to the official border crossing stations for examination, the Spanish government fortified the border. The current triple security fence was built in 2005 and has been updated with enhanced security features since.

      Literally 0 metre, but there are a total of three security fences on the Spanish side to protect the border:
