      Victor how is it easy if his hand was down and there’s 5 bodies in front of the ref. The referee made a right call as much as it sucks because his hand was slightly out. The PK (while originally may not have been awarded given that from the only angle we were given looked like it was in a natural position) would have been retaken if the ref & AR called it correctly before the clear foul that lead to another PK. As a referee, I'm embarrassed by seeing the first penalty call. The rule states:
    "A handball occurs if any player, other than the team’s goalkeeper within his own penalty area, deliberately handles the ball when in play."
    The player had his arms by his side, had the ball drilled at him and did not move his arms/hands to intercept the ball. It's a clear case of "ball to hand", and should never have been a penalty.
    I had to watch a replay, just to try and figure out what the penalty was given for - as I couldn't figure it out, on first watching!
    First penalty - defender #21 comes into the penalty area before the ball has been struck. I warn all players, before a penalty is taken, that it will be retaken automatically under two conditions
    1. Defender enters early, and goal is not scored
    2. Attacker enters early, and goal is scored.
    It's right in front of the referee, he can't fail to see this happen - should have been a retaken penalty after the save.
    Second penalty claim. No complaints here, defender cannot get to the ball and makes a clumsy tackle. No need for any cards, but it's a definite penalty.

    • @kensavage7657
      @kensavage7657 Před 3 lety

      @@dannydanny1034 - an interesting question, one that has been debated at length!
      My personal reply would be that Perisic's handball was a penalty. I remember seeing it, at the time, and thought it wasn't a penalty, or was too close to call. However, watching the replay, in slow motion, a number of times - his left hand seems to move down towards the ball's direction. His right hand does not to the same thing, so it wasn't a natural movement as a result of the jump. He consciously moved his hand. So, it was "hand to ball", not "ball to hand".
      However, that is with the benefit of watching a replay multiple times - a luxury that the referee in an amateur level game does not have :)

    It baffles me to read that some people think the first one is a penalty. It is ball to hand and never ever a penalty, even if the defender was on the goal line and the ball to hand prevented a goal.

  • @jtm1283

    Ignoring the debate on whether it was a handball (as the balance between how far away was the kick and how far from the body was the arm is quite delicate), the first penalty should have been retaken, as the goalie was off the line early.

      THIS is why soccer is such a messed up sport. A handball SHOULD either be a handball or not. And should not have all of these variations and possibilities. There are FAR too many judgment calls in soccer and this is why A) the officials make themselves a HUGE part of the game A LOT and B) they catch GRIEF for their calls CONSTANTLY. If the sport wasn't so wishy-washy.........it wouldn't be THIS bad.

The fact that there can be 2 pk’s back to back just blows people’s minds. It’s like when parent’s say ‘All the calls are going against us’ Well did it ever occur to you that maybe your son’s team is doing all the fouling?
