Some kind of message comes through to you
Some kind of message comes through
And it says to you
Love when you can
Cry when you have to
Be who you must

Await your arrival

My music teacher at Woodruff High was so proud of Dan. She retired in my Senior year, a year or so after this song was on the radio. I think Dan was that one student that validated her whole career. RIP Mrs. Lauterbach. RIP Dan.
Back in 1974, this song introduced me to Dan and set me on the journey to adding all his albums to my collection. Saw him live once and it's still one of the best concerts I've ever been to. What an amazing musician, song writer and wordsmith.
God must have wanted better music in heaven.. Show those Angels how it's done.. For those who believe.. We will hear you again
Amen I believe ❤
I love his lyrics so true ❤
Absolutely
I’m assuming you didn’t listen to the lyrics of the song. “There is no Eden or heavenly gates that you’re gonna make it to one day…”
@dhamblin65 Well, he was obviously confused, and nobody knows all the answers. But like he said , one day we'll all understand.. I bet he's not confused anymore..
Well done, gentleman!
Dan was a special person. His music lives on. Absolutely incredible musician. Truly gonna miss Dan Fogelberg.
I worked at a restaurant in Santa Fe. We had a bar downstairs that featured local musicians. Dan came in one night and sat in with the band for a few songs. Magic!!
Yeah. I miss this guy. More talent in his little finger than most people have in their entire body.
Part of the Plan was Dan Fogelberg's first Top 40 single, peaking at #30 in 1975.
One of my favorite songs of all time tho!!
I went to see Dan in concert once and there was a warm up band first. They came out in run down outfits and they all had funky outfits and pencil thin mustaches. They Played funk, blues and good old rock and roll. When Dan and band came out, we all realized that they were the warm up band in disguise.
I bought this album when it came out. It still means so much to me
Me, too!
Got to see him a few times at the Garden State Arts Center in Holmdel NJ in an outdoor setting he was such an amazing performer and I miss him very much RIP should be in the rock and roll hall of Fame
I guarantee all you Rappers, new age artists, Millenials....this is REAL MUSIC WITH REAL MUSICIANS!AND!You all hear Dan every year around Christmas/New Years...
"SAME AULD LANG SYNE"...40+years...enough said. Will your music stand the test of time???
First date with my now wife was to a Dan Fogelberg concert. 1982
RIP Dan. I know you are still playing somewhere.
Drummer was the great Mike Botts of Bread fame!
Listening to John Denver when I was a teenager and someone said "try Dan Fogelberg". I'm glad that I did.
Dan, we miss you and your music like you'll never know! The man could play that guitar too!!!
Michael Botts on drums is an animal....
Was introduced by Tom Skeeter (Sound City) and ended up recording several tracks w/ him ....Member of the band Bread...Great guy RIP
I saw Dan two times in concert , The first time was at the phoenix celebrity theater around 1973 by himself , no band . He was incredible , the best performance I have ever seen and heard bar none .
I am jealous, I own several of his albums, but never saw him. Huge regret. No band, sounds like the best way to hear him.
One of the most talented musicians that ever lived Dan fogelberg great rhythm and great lyrics Dan fogelberg will always be remembered and the art of music 🎵🎶♥️🎶🎶🎶🎶
I saw him in Ann Arbor in early 80's, to this day still best concert.
Damn straight.. I've watched this series of videos for several months and they never get old... We're gonna miss you Dan..
Such a great song by such a major talent. Gone way too young…
He was an inspirational singer writer performer his music was fantastic 🎸🎼🎸oh how I miss him
A favorite in the 70's...still is.
Great energy.
🎶Now he knows Eden thru heavenly gates
He's made his arrival as planned
And all of the answers he sought he's now found
In the dreams that he now uuuuuunderstands!🎶
haha! I love it! And yes, he made it thru those Heavenly Gates!
I saw Dan Fogelberg and the band perform this in concert in 1992 at the Desert Sky Pavilion in Phoenix, Arizona.
Dan Fogelburg. Almost forgot about him until i was serfing the radio 📻. (Yeah, i did say the radio). And, this song came on. Then i searched him and now i say "thank you!" U-tube this is a keeper! I saw Dan on the campus of Bowling Green Ohio in, i don't know if what year. I still have vinal of his entire work. So Much Music. So, Little Time. Thanks for the memories!!! 🎵🎶
Best male singer/songwriter...EVER!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
This has been the theme song for my LIFE. Such an incredible talent lost too SOON. Still love and miss you Dan!! 🎶❤️🙏🏻
We just do not see and hear music of the calibre and incredible songwriting ability like we have here from the late ,great Dan Fogelberg ? There are not too many musicians/ songwriters of his consistency with brilliant lyrics and songcraft . He really was a special talent and human being .I still don't fully believe Dan got the proper recognition and respect from his peers that he deserved and earned outright ? It is happening now though ...slowly but surely . Best wishes from Scotland .
This song was a ray of hope in tumultuous times. thx Oliver
Such a talent... They just don't make em like this!!!
Huge fan of Dan’s music. He’s one of the finest songwriters we’ve ever had. His life and music inspires my own. I’ve posted some original songs on my channel, looking for feedback if anyone has time for a listen...
Fun song to play on guitar. The great Dan is truly missed...❤
All I can say is totally awesome....another one of his great songs.
" PART of the PLAN " and " POWER OF GOLD" are two of THE MOST DYNAMIC & IMPACTFUL works I've ever heard ... It is as if DAN were saying to us " Now You Know the TRUTH " so " Make Your MOVE "
His songs have part of my plans for years!
What an amazing gift he gave to the world as being no doubt, the finest singer/songwriter ever created. Thank you Dan Fogelberg for bringing so much joy to my world with your inspirational music. X.X
Perfection 💔

Loved this song till I was a child!
I truly love him! Go when you can! He was awesome!
🥀Amazing song no doubt I love all of all of his song's 🥀☝️🥀🕊🥀
I just noticed that the intro to this is a nod to The Who “Baba O’riley”. It didn’t occur to me until I saw the new PlayStation commercial just now
Interesting. I immediately noticed that the intro was not what I expected but I didn't notice it was Baba until reading your comment. But yeah, it is.
Rest in peace, Dan.
Such a beautiful man.
Yes !!! Thank you !! Damn !
Who are the people in Dan’s band please the seem to have been together a long time.
I love this song! Looking forward to singing along with KARAOKE.
Big country vever good
Wonderful thanks for the memory
Amen.
That's how God works.
I'll give you these gifts of artists who will touch on the message but I'm sorry, I'll not leave them with you long enough to know what knowledge I gave them to inspire them to wright and sing these songs. It's up to you to fill in the gaps of your life.
Yes, you've spoken a profound truth.
They are messengers, channels of God's Wisdom and Grace....fleeting in their time with us, as fleeting as we all are.
We are graced to hear them and, as you say, carry on in our lives the better for our listening of them.
the best...period!!!
God bless You and your beautiful music!
So good
Joe Walsh produced the album I believe
I prefer it as an acoustic solo version
He has a little bit of Mellencamp in him (Authority Song) in this bit, and it sounds a bit like Steven Curtis Chapman's Great Adventure (from the movie I Can Only Imagine).
line three...'weak'....yep, this arrangement is sad. but a great song, and loved dan...sad ending....
Guy could play guitar
ME FAVORITE VERSION
Good Thailand
Esta buena canción la compuso DAN FOGELBERG y la canto y la publico en el año 1974
😎👍❤🖖
💞💫🌹
rip
What year was this video? What year did he die?
did his voice get huskier from smoking?
I watched him over the years and I think thats what happened , unfortunately the last few years of his life he could not sing as well . But he was the best in his day . I really loved the sound of his voice .
"There is no Eden or heavenly gates?" Think again. There is a God who loves you and made us in his image. He loved us enough to take on human form and die so that we could be with him forever. We are not perfect, but He is able to perfect us.
Relax, Christians have all kinds of songs espousing the love of God. Let's allow a moderately non-religious lyric to pass, yeah?
Hmm. The Force is weak in this one.
your definition of a god isn't everyone's...a book written by men and revised over a cpl thousand years isn't the core of humanity
If you don't like the song, no one's forcing you to listen.
At this point, Dan certainly isn't listening to you.
In my own interpretation, I choose to correlate Dan’s verse to a similar set of lyrics by Jackson Browne; “Better bring your own redemption when you come to the Barricades of Heaven....” Not a denial of the Spiritual, but guidance to find it along one’s way. I suppose one could see similar thoughts in the lyrics of the Grateful Dead’s Ripple” as well, sort of a “Gnostic” approach to Salvation rather than a strict “by the book” literal religious path.

Excellent music...very poor choice of lyrics at the end...when he denies that "there is no Eden, or heavenly gates"--atheism/denial of Christianity is a fool's errand...not to mention a denial of his entire thesis to the song...since if God does not exist, not only is life meaningless with no plan, but a cruel, absurdity (which is clearly not the case).
Jesus wasn't a Christian !
What generic, unimaginative music.
