Here is another game for you. It's called 'Idiots' Whist' for any number of players who play for themselves only, no partnerships. Using a standard pack, the dealer gives everyone the same maximum number of cards that maths will allow e.g. for five players, everyone gets 10 cards except for the player on the right of the dealer who gets an additional card, in this case 11 (if there are 4 players then everyone gets 13 cards and the player on the dealers right doesn't get an extra card). The dealer chooses trumps or no trumps and states the number of tricks they will take. Bidding continues clockwise until everyone has stated a number and this ends the bidding, with the proviso that the player with the extra card, the one on the dealers right, may not state a number that means that the sum of all bids equals the number of cards in play, in this case 10. So if the bidding was 'Hearts and 4', '3', '2' the last to bid may not say '1'. The player with the extra card must discard one, unknown to the others.
Play commences with the player on the dealer's left. Bridge rules apply.
Everyone who gets EXACTLY the number of tricks they have bid for will get 3 times the bid plus 10 points. E.g. 'Hearts and 4' and you take four and only four tricks then you will score (4x3)+10=22 points. If you take any other number of tricks then you'll score nothing. If you said '2' and were successful then you get (2x3)+10=16 points. If you're playing in 'No trumps' then everyone will get 4x, or (variant) 5x, your bid plus 10. This stops malicious bids of 'No trumps and zero' designed to cause chaos and encourages declarers to choose 'No trumps' with a suitable hand.
The first hand over, the deal passes to the left and one less card is dealt, in my example 9 (10 for the player on the dealer's right). Then the deal passes to the left and we have 8 etc. until finally only one card is dealt (two for the player on the dealer's right).
Whoever has the highest score in the end wins.
This game is really easy to learn but contains a great deal of strategy and mind games. Further, even bad players can win sometimes and good players can lose, but in general good play is rewarded.

I’m a big fan of this card game collection kick you’re on. Not sure what VIP offers, but any game from that Hoyle Card Games software from the early 2000s (which is how I learned bridge first) is something I’d happily watch. :)

VIP just seems to be a place where you can easily play against people without waiting too long.

I managed to get my first 5 tricks as defender the other day and on vipgames.com you don't get 4 points only 2. Just thought I would clarify that.

People play Euchre outside of the Great Lakes region of the US?

Yes. The midwest, Ontario Canada, upstate New York, New Zealand, Australia, the United Kingdom, Florida (because of transplants and retirees, Arizona for the same reason but not as much that Florida offers. These are the main places where euchre is played. There are other areas and states that have a contingent of euchre players. The above is where the majority is.
