I'm so sorry for the loss of your cats.😔🥺 I understand how you must be feeling. I had 2 of my cats pass a few years ago. It's so sad. I hope you feel better soon.❤🤞🙏
I hope you get to feeling all better soon! Thank you for the tips, I always get sick when I travel and didn’t realize until now that you can’t take something like Tylenol cold and flu into Japan. I already feel like I am going to be referring back to this video in the future!
A few years ago I had some Sudafed in my makeup bag when I was entering Japan and they confiscated it 😩😭 I should have known(?) But I also wasn’t really thinking about it lol
Oh Reina, veterinary technician here, I’m so sorry for the loss of Ume and Peanut I knew your situation. I’m so happy that you were able to be there for Peanut. We just lost my husbands dog a couple days ago. We understand. Also as someone who helps pets every week to cross the rainbow bridge, i see people in your situation all the time. 💗💗 I’m sending love and light
I am so sorry about your husband’s dog… it’s never easy but I’m certain you and your husband gave them a the best life. You’re doing incredible work as a vet technician, I admire you so much. We deeply depended on our vets / technicians and Peanut lived the extra few months that she did thanks to them and their advice.
sorry for your losses, my friends. peanut was such a sweet kitty. hopefully, in time you will be able to get another fur baby. sending you all love thoughts and prayers. hope you feel much better soon.
I know that when I lived in Hawaii, I would always stock up on CC Lemon so I'd have it if I got sick. Or if I wanted the Best Soda Ever. This kind of backfired when I went to Japan, as I tried to find something similar in the Family Mart at the hotel, and randomly choosing a "lemon drink" means sometimes you get something alcoholic accidentally. :) I hope you feel better soon!
Wow your story is very similar to what my mom had. Covid negative but migraine, body ache, some coughing, sore throat, sick all around but not Covid. Took her at least 3 weeks to feel much better. But doctor didn’t know what she had other than just sick.
Oh that sounds EXACTLY like what I had! I actually just took a PCR test and a blood test (for unrelated medical purposes) and they were able to confirm that mine 100% wasn’t Covid, so we still have no idea what happened lol a lot are suspecting strep or flu 😷
I'm very sorry to hear about Peanut. It's one of the realities about being a pet owner, but knowing that doesn't make it any easier. I'm happy to hear that your health seems to be improving, though!
I once had the flu for three days before it turned into pneumonia. Took six months of recovery. Even broke three ribs cause I was coughing so hard. Worst experience ever.
Not a doctor, but it sounds a lot like when I had Bronchitis. Sorry you went through that so long. :( I got some super pills and it cleared up in a few days. My condolences about your kitty Peanut. It sounds like he lived a nice life with lots of love.
Reina, sorry for you and your husband’s recent loss of your two ‘fur babies’ (I don’t like referring to them as pets because they are always a member of the family.) It’s nice too see your posting again. Your usual upbeat personality and infectious smile can make an otherwise gloomy day, one filled with sunshine.
I wish I had seen a video like this before I came to Japan. I can not tell you the number of times that the Jelly Packs have saved me in the flu, cold, scratchy throat and noro seasons at elementary schools. OS 1 is also a must to keep in the frig for those days you have a dehydration issue.
It sounds like Strep. My son has had it 6 times and everyone of these symptoms sounds like Strep. She probably didn't give you a strong enough antibiotic. I am glad you are better despite her incompetence.
Ahh you’re poor son! My husband used to get strep a LOT as a kid, I think some kids are super susceptible to it 😩 A lot of my family thinks mine was strep as well, actually. It was so annoying 🥲
That sounds exactly like when I had influenza in 2019. It was confirmed for me due to the lucky happenstance that my symptoms started the day I already had a doctor's appointment for something else and I was swabbed to test for flu and use that to help make yearly flu shots. My flu also lasted for almost 3 weeks as well.
Thank you for thinking to make this video! Saving this for our next visit. A travel companion got a cold last time we were in Japan, and the drugstore clerk recommended this bitter brown powder wrapped in paper that you shoot, then drink a lot of water... seemed to do an ok job with symptoms/relief, but an unpleasant experience :D
Thanks for sharing this Reina! Really valuable information for those who plan to visit in the future and unfortunately get sick or hurt while visiting. My friend hurt his ankle while we were there last and looking for a stronger pain relief medicine like advil was not easy for us at the time haha. But now I know what is a good alternative! Thanks again, take care, and I hope all is well Reina! 😊
I know how you feel about losing cats in a short period of time. I had 2 cats. Buyo (yes i named him after Kagome’s cat) was 16, and his health declined in 10 days before passing back in September of 2020. And how he passed was traumatic for me. But he was my baby boy. Emmy (17 yo), she passed in New Year’s Eve morning, the last day of 2021, and she passed in an uncomfortable way in my hands and I listened to her final heart beat. Im still pretty wrecked losing Emmy and Buyo, but getting a little better. They were with me for a long time, since my senior year in high school. My condolences to you and Mike about Peanut. Love you very much. Take care and feel better. 💜💜
I'm sorry for the loss of your precious cat, I lost my grandmother 3 months ago so I'm doing good, I know it's hard to lose family members, but we just got to go on and live on, Because you are the wonderful person on Earth and me too and everyone else.
So terribly sorry about Peanut 😭😭 we had to put 2 our cats down within 8 months of one another. One of them had been sick for a long time, the other got sick and declined very quickly. It's incredibly hard and I feel so bad for you and your family. Sending good vibes your way ❤
So happy to see you back! So so sorry for your hard year and your losses 💜 I hope the rest of the year gets better for you guys! Much love from Arizona 💜💜
Sorry about your cats Reina. Have lost pets before and it hurts a lot. Please indulge in self care and let time do its magic. Moving on, 10:00 : the first Dr Jelly commercial!
Hope you're feeling ok, I know it's been very tough times. :( Pocari was always my go to hangover cure when I was living in Japan. And an egg salad sando.
Condolences for your losses, Kitty's that are no longer with us can be found looking down from above and occasionally knocking things off the shelves in Heaven, so remember to keep you head up!
Reina, I hear the flu, and colds in general are reeeaaallyyyy bad this year. I think because wearing masks and just staying inside, so our immunity system hasn't had any opportunities to strengthen. I'm glad you're feeling better, and I'm so sorry to hear about your losses! It took a while for me too.
@4:40 We always kid around about the powder form... We call it bird poop medicine because it taste terrible! OH I love the part where you say "Actual medicine" before getting to the homeopathic "medicine".
Hello from Kinugasa! Good to hear you're on the mend. Cool product list, I'll have to try a few of those next time I'm feeling under the weather. I'm surprised you went for EVE and not Bufferin, pre-COVID I had gone to the Sapporo snow festival and got a migraine from hell and Bufferin saved the day. Also have you tried Pocari Sweat Ion Water? It's lower cal with a lot of the same electrolytes.
Oh YEAH buffering is a popular choice as well! I tend to go EVE because it’s had the closest effect to Advil for my personally, which is my fave. I’ve had pocari Ion as well, I should’ve showed that too!
Very cool, and it looks like most of these are available on Dokodemo for international shipping. I wonder if Mitsuwa marketplace stores have any of these.
Good to see you again Reina! Sorry to hear about your loss and you not feeling too well! The good thing, you are back and hopefully will see more videos 👍🏽
Everytime I visit Japan and felt sick/run down I just tough it out and drink pocari sweat because I am allergic to ibuprofen, my Japanese friends would recommend stuff but most of the time stuff has ibuprofen. Even during Halloween 2019 I got run over while stood waiting to cross the road at Shin-Ōkubo (junction just past the station entrance as you head towards Shinjuku which was under construction at the time) a person lost control of their scooter and ran into the crowd. I cut my knee and elbow up but just refused to go to hospital because of trying to explain no to ibuprofen lol🤣
Lol. I bought some OTC decongestant from a Japanese pharmacy. I told the person I was looking for an antihistamine. I was given a box with packets of powder just like what you had, but different brand. First, it tasted horrible. Second, I had to immediately sit down because I felt woozy. I think the powder allows the ingredients to hit you immediately instead of a slowly dissolving pill. It worked though! Everything is better in Japan.
Did you retest yourself later on if you had covid? I tested negative and when I went for a check up after 10 days and complained about chest ache around heart doctor said that's covid because she had the same and sent me to get another PCR test which was positive. It's the weirdest sickness I have ever had. I don't for a second believe its origins are natural. At first I had headaches, spinning head, and flu symptoms. After like four days flu symptoms were gone. After six days spinning head was gone and all I had were chest pains which lasted like two weeks, even past the point I was no longer spreading the virus. How do I know? Because people living in the same household did not catch it at all. Since I originally tested negative I just thought it's cold. It wasn't. Every one has different symptoms, wouldn't be surprised if you had it. But early tests can come up negative. I don't blame the doctor for being distant.
I actually just got a PCR test and a blood test (unrelated medical purpose) and everything came up negative for Covid. My doctor wasn’t just distant, she was awful & unprofessional in many ways actually, I just didn’t wanna ramble & complain too much about her as it would take away from the main crux of the video 😅
If one day I visit Japan and all of a sudden i get ill, a headache or stomach aches i might have to try one of those medicines hopefully it will work i haven't tried Japanese medicines before if I don't feel well.
I was pregnant in Japan and I got a cold. We went to the pharmacy and asked them to help us find some medicine because we were having trouble figuring out what everything was. They told us to go to the hospital because nothing is pregnancy-safe in Japan🤷
Hey Reina, I was wondering something. Correct me if I am wrong, but you've done reviews of products from all the convenience stores with one exception. I don't think you covered the Daily Yamazaki, did you? Maybe there aren't any Daily Yamazaki near you.
I just found ur channel bc I was trying to learn what Hentai was 😳😬 But ended up subbing bc idk..ur a cool chick! And ur beautiful 🤘🏻❤ Edit: You probably have something viral especially if antibiotics didn’t help. I was a medic in the Navy.
So, how many of these remedies have actually been scientifically tested for effectiveness in RCTs? Does Japan have its own form of the FDA that proves effectiveness for packaging claims on products before they are allowed to make statements of medical treatment on them?
