Woodford Reserve Double Oaked and Chocolate Pairing? Yes please!

- @woodfordreserve & Compartés teamed up to do a tasting with their Double Oaked. This was a fun episode for me as I LOVE chocolate. It's available at Reserve Bar if you're interested.
It's a tough sell as the whiskey is about $60-$65 and the chocolates are about $25, so you have to really enjoy chocolates to make this worth it... but the chocolates are great!

I did a bourbon & chocolate tasting at Heaven Hill years ago, and that was a lot of fun. If this were a distillery I loved, I'd probably pull the trigger on it. Still, unfortunate that Reserve Bar doesn't sell liquor to OH for nebulous reasons, otherwise it would make a good gift.

I would have thought the chocolate would have brought out the burn of the bourbon and overstimulated your sweet sensors so the bourbon would have only related bitter and oaky. It didn’t seem like the case for you at all!
No they blended together really well balancing different flavors
I really like my Double Oaked, and love good chocolate, but I'd have a hard time paying that kind of money for 4 small chocolates. Sounds like they did a great job with the pairings, though.
The cost is a lot, especially when you consider that you have to ship them too
@@TheWhiskeyDictionary Yeah, even worse there. I can go to most liquor stores around me and get the Double Oaked (and not infrequently store picks). If they bundled this for, say 75 to sell at stores, I'd be right there.
