    One of the best reviews for a bass pedal that I've ever seen on the Tube. Let the pedal and the bass do the talking. Nicely done !

    I run one, always on, for a bit of tube emulation, and massive tone control available to me on stage.
    The little box with many uses. Hats off to Tech21.

      I was really surprized.

      It's the best one for the $$ for the SVT thing...But I love fat tube sound. My Bass Fat Drive does a great job of that for the $$. You don't have to spend $400 to get adequate distortion.

    Very helpful! I just got a Bass Fly Rig and the VT is one of the preamps along with a Bass Driver pre. I prefer the VT and this helped get a better understanding of what it could do.

    Very good review. Thanks Oliver.
    I have a rack mounted Sansamp RBI unit, which have more or less the same features, and the only problem that I find with it is the bass voicing being set at 80hz, and to solve that I just added a one band parametric Equalizer to push the bass to lower frequencies.

    • @1thess523
      @1thess523 Před měsícem

      I just traded my RBI for the Geddy Lee DI 2112 pedal, the RBI was way too mid and highs heavy for my taste even with them rolled back

    Nice sounds you can get out of this thing! So far you have helped me decide about 2 products now: This pedal and the Dimarzio Model P. It seems that maybe the drive needed a little taming...your SPB-3s seem to clip a little bit when you do extreme full on or full off on your eq knobs. Anyways, very versatile indeed. Much to my regret, I sold an Ampeg SCR-DI I had. This maybe the closest to that, although the eq is voiced a little higher on this pedal, as far as I have read, but all usable sounds nonetheless! Greetings!

  • @Klaus80804
    @Klaus80804 Před 4 lety +2

    The VT Bass DI still is my favorite pedal. I hope they will sooner or later bring a Fly Rig version like the SH-1 as a VT Bass FlyRig. Tech21 has milked the VT Bass so many times now (original VT Bass, VT Bass V2, VT Bass Deluxe, VT Bass DI, VT Bass 1960, VT Bass 500, and the VT Bass 200 Combo). So there should be a VT Bass FlyRig also! My idea would be the two channel set up of the SH-1. Both channels could share the same Bass, Middle and Treble knobs, but individuel Gain, Character and Master knobs would allow two different sounds plus a tuner.

    • @OliverTobyn
      @OliverTobyn  Před 4 lety

      The Bass Fly Rig actually has the VT Bass circuit on it!

    • @Klaus80804
      @Klaus80804 Před 4 lety +1

      @@OliverTobyn Kind of, it it has lesser gain and is somehow a mix between the VT Bass and the Bass Driver. I have the FlyRig and it is great, but not that much for overdriven Sounds. For that I like the SH-1 better (or the VT Bass DI). For real nasty distortion the dp-3X is the ultimate thing.

    • @kazisami1051
      @kazisami1051 Před 3 lety

      V2 of Tech 21 Bass Flyrig is out which has 2 sansamp circuits now. Including the VT Bass DI as a new addition

    • @Klaus80804
      @Klaus80804 Před 2 lety +1

      @@kazisami1051 Yes, your are right. The Fly Rig V2 has the option of switching between VT Bass and Bass Driver ... but NO Blend Control and NO Character Knob. I really like the combination of a clean signal plus mixing in an overdriven signal. The YYZ Pedal is also very interesting for this purpose. I hope they make this as a Fly Rig (kind of like the DP-3X or the SH-1 Mini Fly rigs).

      Haha è proprio uno dei video che ho in programma! Diciamo che hanno delle aree in comune, ma ad esempio i pulsanti bite e l'emulatore di cassa sono tarati su frequenze molto diverse. Ho tirato fuori un suono simil Harris dal VT ma quando lo confronto con l'altro si nota che il VT tende ad essere molto più grosso e profondo come suono
