This is a bit late but if you liked the Devil's Carnival movies id recommend Repo! The Genetic Opera. Terrance Zdunich wrote both these films and Repo also alot of the crew in this film are in Repo as well. Paul (God), Terrance (the devil). Ogre (The Twin aka the shape shifter for the beautiful stranger song), Bill moseley (the magician) are all in the devils carnival and repo films. You also have Alexa Vega in the repo films also if you fancy her.

The song is comparing her choices both in life and in hell to the Aesop Fable of The Dog and His Reflection. She got stuff in life, but kept wanting more and more and more until her own greed caused her death. Then, even in Hell, she wanted that diamond, and all she had to do to win it was to throw a coin into an ostrich egg. She kept trying to do it over and over, losing all the riches she had on her until she was left with absolutely nothing, and now gets to spend the next eternity being whipped. Basically the theme of this movie is showing how far these people so lost in terms good morality that they didn't even learn from kid stories. Ms. Merrywood let her greed drag her down like the Dog let his reflection, our frog Tamara keeps choosing to swim with scorpions, John metaphorically drowns in his grief over his deceased son. This movie is actually really good. You can stream it free if you have an Amazon Prime account, and I recommend giving it a watch.
