- Learn MikroTik RouterOs Tutorial Series (english)
The configuration backup can be used for backing up MikroTik RouterOS configuration to a binary file, which can be stored on the router or downloaded from it using FTP or Winbox for future use. The configuration restore can be used for restoring the router's configuration, exactly as it was at the backup creation moment, from a backup file. The restoration procedure assumes the configuration is restored on the same router, where the backup file was originally created, so it will create partially broken configuration if the hardware has been changed.
The configuration export can be used for dumping out complete or partial MikroTik RouterOS configuration to the console screen or to a text (script) file, which can be downloaded from the router using FTP or Winbox. The configuration dumped is actually a batch of commands

I am new in mikrotik but you make it easy to learn. Thanks a lot.
thank you, this allowed me to clone a set of radios from a working pair, to get it the new radios up and running, while i figured out where I went wrong in the programming
Thanks the tutorials I enjoyed it
Thank you very much sir for your great job for us as I used Mikrotik Router before but forgot the procedures
You are welcome
A very helpful tutorial
Thanks for the tutorial! Can you tell me...if I am upgrading from one model of Mikrotik such a hex POE with 5 ports to a router such as the 4011 with 10...will the import/export fail if the corresponding port syntax does not match? Additionally, some routers do not have eth0 and some have a combo port which I believe would not be recognized by the router which is being upgraded.
good way of explanation.
can't wait to create my own buckop
you are the BOSS
hi, in your video where you emailed the backup to yourself, the file popped back as a .rsc file. and when i tried to restore the file , it kept saying , file not found. how do you restore the backup rsc file without it giving me that response? please respond as soon as possible.
what's the difference between the two? does the .rsc also contains users/passwords?
I do not have access to the FILE. How can I make a backup using the TERMINAL. THANKS
Thanks it helps great job and I need more help if possible teach us hotspot, I have all files but I can't run my own created Hotspot, its popup default Mikrotik login page
@5:24 you say to type the password for the router when restoring. Is that true, or did you mean the password that had been set when creating the backup?
Doesn't work man. I get incorrect file size (6). I tried taking in and out by drag drop and WInSCP/FTP also tried initiating restore by telnet. Still same error.
Can the backup form one router work on an other router of the same type.
Not recommended, use the export/import configuration instead.
dose it pack up all configuration?
thanks for this pal
How to configuration backup to SD card ??
You would have to write a script to move the backup to sd card or do it manually
Auto Mail Backup(Hotspot userman) ..Video please
Noted, added to my video list
This tutorial is obviously missing the: How to restore the script file. I bet one does not copy paste the commands one by one :) So try this link for completeness: jcutrer.com/howto/networking/mikrotik/mikrotik-backup-and-restore
the songs are freaking random
