  • Hey guys, my 2 stroke addiction continues.. in this video we have an epic (in my book) 2 stroke 125 battle between 1983 Suzuki RM 125 and 2019 KTM 125 SX done by ‪@dirtbiketv1‬ , there is 36 years of difference between these two bikes and around 36 years of riding experience too. I never had this much fun battling other guys, check it out and let me know your thoughts!

      I went directly to a used 1988 CR 500 after the 125's, what a fun bike that was and then all big bore 2t's until my first brand new bike in 2000 and it was my first 4T . A Husqvarna TE 400 left hand kick, great bike.
      If you ever want to look for a unique bike I had a 1989 ATK 406, this bike was cool, one of my favorite bikes of all time, side mounted mono shock, rear brake rotor ran on a jack shaft, left hand kick (still have the leg scars) Rotax free air engine.

    If I remember correctly the 1981-2 RM 125 won every shootout - mostly due to a suspension that was ahead of it's time - and with a great engine. I think the 83 was a continuation af that bike. Sounds great. 🙂

    Been outta bikes for a long time and recently got back in at 41. Got a 96 KX250. Love it. Im sure there are kids on old 50's that can smoke me lol. Hate to remind all the guys not old enough to remember but back in the 2 strokes day, 80's and 90's especially. KTM never won shit. Their bikes were always dead last or next to it in shootouts almost every year. If the Japanese had continued work on their own 2 strokes they wkaould more than likely stomp the Austrian companies current line up. I like the katooms, hydraulic clutches and other top notch stuff. Just wish you cold buy smokers from all the Japanese brands. Yamaha is awesome for continuing theirs even if there hasn't been any R&D go into them for a long time. I remember reading somewhere at one time that 90 something percent of all mx bikes sold never see a mx track. So Why the expensive 4 stroke only option? If most of us are trail riders and weekend off road warriors why is a balls to the wall expensive 4t the only thing most companies offer? Many would prefer a simple to fix 2t for their off road adventures. Can you imagine if Honda said ok time to bring back a modern CR250. Tuned for the trails ala YZ250X. Kawasaki making a modern KDX? Suzuki an RMX? Those kinds of machines would sell in droves, to the majority. I cannot understand why it isn't done? Major missed opportunity for them I would think.

    • @Dashriprock4
      @Dashriprock4 Před 3 lety +4

      @@farquadmantis8486 I don't know that anything has better rear suspension than the old original full floater. It was quite a work of engineering and so expensive to produce that they ended up having to change to a lesser performing system. But the Honda has a stronger engine, vastly superior front forks, disc brakes front and rear and better quality throughout. 86 and 87 Hondas were so much better than the competition it essentially reset the bar for what a motocross bike should be.

    Great video and point proved here lads!- been saying this for lots of years-e.g. an '82 RM125 i first raced in '84 i reckon was as quick as my 2021 Sherco SE125 in many situations out on a track, its more exotic.
    If you picked one of the many fast 125s from the 80s - (a few power dogs aside- every manufacturer made one!)- especially a fast one with a decent rider aboard, bike - even engine size - Or year won't matter.
    Its been proven for over 40 or more years. You showed this so well here.
    Top video with good point. Great to watch, great rides.many thanks🏆
