- Andover kansas tornado
April 29th, 2022
Part two, looking north after it crossed central ave...
.......Clarifications.....
It passed 700 yards east of us and the city building was spared by about 100 feet (lots of city vehicle damage though.)
I've been in KS for 60 years. This is the second twister I've seen and the first I've filmed.
My wife was upset and scared and I was an idiot to keep filming, but I had a very good grasp of where it was and I could see it was moving NNE. We had a basement just a few steps away. She was right to be as upset as she was considering how many people's live were at risk.
It was just us two at home, no pets and a basement 5 seconds away.
We moved to Andover 9 months ago. It's a great town. Andover will be just fine and stronger than ever soon. Thankfully, nobody perished.
If you would like to volunteer or donate to the relief, please do....Here is the united way site www.unitedwayplains.org/disas...
I'm dedicating this to my mom. She passed in December 2021. She was raised on a farm in Ford Co Kansas. She always said when living on a farm, if you saw a twister, you "bend over, grab your ankles and kiss your A** goodbye"....I'm pretty sure she was driving this twister. - Sport
as someone that made a living launching balloons into these storms for ncar in the 90s...well done footage sir...
what is ncar and was you there for the 91 tornadio
Ncar?
That is cool, that’s what i wanna do.

This is very awesome....... I really wish I could see one of these in real life don't get these where I live, and really really wish I could put balloons in these Strom's... Would be a dream job.
Glad you guys are ok that thing looks beautiful but so dangerous ….
any time it will come to us...
I think you're way braver than I would have been Mike. glad you guys are okay !
I am in my 60's and have lived in N.E. Oklahoma most of my life. So, I have seen/experienced numerous severe storms and tornadoes. But of all the photos of tornadoes that I have ever seen, two really stand out in my mind as truly terrifying. They were both of tornadoes that hit Andover,KS! The first was of the tornado in the early 90's, then other is this one from a few days ago. I know what it is like cleaning up after a tornado and my thoughts and prayers are with all those who are dealing with that now.
Its almost as if buying a home there is a bad idea.
i was in oklahoma during the el reno tornado it was not fun
Yes, the El Reno tornado was another VERY scary looking one!
Yes, I believe the El Reno tornado is the largest.
I thought I remembered hearing about Andover before!
Unfriggingbelievable. This, along with Part I, is the gold standard of tornado videos.
You'll likely recognize me from part 1, but sir, please please know that I am so happy you were calm for her. This footage is absolutely incredible and I just wanted to thank you for this amazing content
We're you the one flying through the air I don't recognize you at all
Calm like a psychopath you mean. Your ability to understand healthy behavior is questionable.

I swear every house in Andover is beautiful. It looks like a great place to live, minus the tornadoes of course. I hope everyone is safe and that the city recovers quickly.
not really.
is just a facade.
if it were truly beautiful, the houses would have been built to withstand this and not by imported labor that cant figure out which side of the truss goes up.
Not really that nice
@Real Joe Biden 😟
@@nyasiia433 windmills cause tornadoes & lead to cancer. Thus spoketh the donnie. Lol !
Man this guy is calm and funny "let's go in the basement" "ok you go head down there
Masterful display of calm and fantastic footage sir. Stay safe!
be careful, wear masks
I prefer to wear a full hazmat suit 24/7 just in case.

Except the wife…. Lord could she stay quiet or go to the basement already. The crying is like nails on a chalkboard. Why do women resort to sobbing? It’s the most annoying sound.
@@bingbongboomboom Archie Bunker is that you?
Hands down the best twister footage I've ever seen! You gave us a front row seat on how brutal and unforgiving Mother Nature can be on a given moment. Truly beautiful yet haunting. The rawness of it all brings on a slew of emotions. I'll be watching and talking about your footage for years to come. Well done sir...you just made history. Godspeed to all of you.
I can't even find a high enough rating for how incredibly awesome this video is! Glad you all made it through okay! I would have been heading out a long time ago!!! These 'living' sky monsters scare the willies outta' me!
Just watching it coming toward that house I thought for sure was going to take a hit as the tornado grew in size. God be with you all.
I believe personally, that this is the best tornado footage in a long long time. And it came from somebody’s front porch lol.
Phenomenal video! The clarity of the funnel itself was amazing and the sound!!
A tip for when u actually see a tornado: If it isn’t moving run away because it’s actually coming towards you,So like when u went outside and said i think it had got bigger it was coming towards u. But then it went away.
Give this guy his due.....to calmly stand there and video that took BALLS. Thank you Sir
Some of the best tornado footage I have seen - well done. Glad you held firm and didn't take your wife's advice and go to the basement. ;)
Thank you so much for the footage. I lived in Wichita for 10 yrs and never was as up close or personal as you were. May God bless and protect you and may the peace of Christ enlighten and be with you always.

@@K1OIK I'm meant film.
@@matthewconnelly1185 There hasn't been film in most cameras in 20years.
Wow! Part 1 was especially fantastic. I just watched The Wizard of Oz a few days ago. The only thing missing from your video was Miss Gulch on the bicycle :)
Ryan Hall just announced there are more on the way for the next couple of days. Be prepared. Be safe.
It’s Mother Nature’s way of saying, “And another thing…”
stay safe, wear a mask
You kept your wife calm and she kept you grounded by reminding you to go to safety and not by mesmerized by the twister!
I watched both of your videos. Oh my goodness!!!! Thank God you both are safe and sound.
You did a great job brother.
Your footages are absolutely fantastic.
Thanks, brother.
That roar from it! Crap. I would have been getting concerned as the View of it became restricted behind that house; the right to left movement slowed. When they appear to "linger" over one spot suddeny that usually means they have turned towards coming right at you. Glad it kept going.
Watch the part 1 video if you can, it came right at them for several minutes and missed them by a few hundred yards!
Incredible footage, glad you guys are safe
they were wearing masks

You are one brave dude. I'd have nightmares for days. It was about 300 yards too close if you ask me. I "liked" your first video then thought is this something to "like?" But "disliking" seems harsh. Thanks for sharing. It was quite incredible.
Same
I wish there was another voting choice besides ‘like’ and ‘dislike’ … maybe ‘thanks for sharing’ 🤔
You got some great footage!! So glad yall are ok, and I am praying for everyone in the path of this tornado
Yes, incredible footage, Mike, but wow! Glad y'all survived!
Astonishing footage! Beautiful energy from you both! ♥
This is INCREDIBLE footage!
Wow, amazing footage. Looks absolutely terrifying
Fellow resident here and also live exactly a quarter mile from the the track (YMCA). Great video! Glad you guys didn’t get any damage.
Part 1 was pretty close glad you filmed without any devastation to your property.
Best tornado footage I’ve ever seen. Full marks to you sir for clinching your sphincter and keeping your nerve.
That was some fantastic coverage on that EF3 tornado. Was also a perfect tornado for storm chasers because of it's direction always being right next to a road.
This is some of the greatest footage ever captured!!! Great job 👏🏽

very raw experience, thank you for sharing!
Thank God Yall are safe and your home and neighborhood was spared.

Wow, you just said not a single word, great work, thanks for sharing, hope all people are good, but I think it wil be a disaster.
These things are huge in Kansas! I love your videos!
Wow! Thank you for part 1& 2... even though you have to be a little bit crazy to have done it :)
Hope your town is all ok sending prayers from Los Angeles 🙏🏽
If I saw this Out side my yard, I would be thinking, What A Great Time To Be Alive and Record this to show Mother Nature at Work.
Just BEAUTIFUL..BEAUTIFUL!
Blessings to all through this storm!
Unimaginable and Stunning.
I wish for a completion of restoration of your town.🙏
Amazing video, the best I have ever seen. Sending prayers 🙏
praying for everyone there
Once you've heard that sawing sound of a large tornado, you never forget it. It is the most horrifying, terrifying, helpless feeling in the world. I was outside this close to an F5 in 2013 heading straight for my living room, and I had 3 tiny dogs in the tub in the center of the house, but they didn't want to be in there, esp locked in there without me, and I knew I wouldn't be able to hold onto all of them.
I learned after seeing the flattened neighborhood around me that one thing that often stood up to the tornado was the lower bathroom cabinets. My dogs would've been safer in there than in that plastic tub covered by my comforter, esp if I had tied the doors shut. They MIGHT'VE stood a chance. THANK GOD, we all survived that day, untouched, when the twister turned at the last minute and went parallel to my street. It killed 8 kids minutes later, so I can't be grateful about that - and, truthfully, my life wasn't worth even one of theirs - but I was happy to have survived. Been traumatized ever since though. Had to run from an even bigger tornado 11 days later. Then my house was hit by 2 bolts of lightning and burned down 2 years ago when I was home alone and has to get myself and the dogs out. Trauma level even higher now. I have barely left my house since the fire and I will NOT leave my house without my dogs now. I'm a prisoner here. But I'm at least not in a state of panic somewhere with my puppy panicking here at home because I left him alone. He's never been alone. He bites anyone who tries to handle him without me there, and even tries to bite my husband daily. But I can pick him up and kiss his nose while he growling and spitting at my husband - he won't bite mommy. He is just protective and very scared of strangers, and sassy when he doesn't want his dad picking him up because he knows it means he's being taken outside to potty without mama and is scared I won't be here when he gets back. He is my shadow! Even in the bathroom, even INSIDE the shower. He follows me into the shower and will stand in there with me! LOL
I am so sorry you went through of all that. Sending hugs and healing your way!
I'm so sorry that you have such trauma. I hope you will seek help. You don't have to stay a prisoner.
Beautiful footage here. Well done. You stood your ground. Kudos.
So cool yet so terrifying. Glad y’all are okay
Good coverage! Impressive twister!
Came here from Part 1. Wow. I'm glad you weren't hit. Too close for comfort, indeed.
I've had my fill of too close for comfort as well. Been in or near several tornadoes in Kansas, Missouri and Wisconsin. Hope never to be that close again.
I really feel for all those whose homes were damaged or lost in Andover.
Your prayers were answered 🙏
WOW !!!! You can't take your eyes off it. Totally fascinating.......great job.
You have a wonderful wife, she didn't leave you. Well done on the video, my goodness. Awesome power of nature.
Incredible and up close footage . Wow
Thanx for the footage man
That looks beautiful.
Fantastic footage of an awesome event that was most definitely too close for comfort. Thank you!
Such a beautiful place. 🙏🏼For those hurt by this. ❤️
such a beauty. so much awesome footage of this tornado. really amazing stuff
Oh my goodness, this is the best footage of a tornado I’ve ever seen!
WOW, from about 1:25 through 2:15 it looked to be stationary!
I suppose it could have been growing in size and moving directly away from the camera.
Great footage, thank you for sharing.
Hope the damage wasn't as bad as it appears.
Wow! Amazing….thank you
Dude….you have ballz of steel! Epic footage!
It’s amazing to me that in todays day and age you can hear about an event from the news and over the course of the next week see hundreds of different videos from different people of the same event. It’s really amazing honestly and super cool. Prayers to everybody affected!
The police dont think its cool🤣
Good job. Thanks for sharing.
Amazing Footage! This has been probably one of the best documented tornadoes, in History.
Ominous and amazing! Being from Kansas myself, I’m surprised there’s no footage of anyone watching or filming from a house rooftop!
You got great footage. You did an awesome job of staying clam well done.
Hard to make a siren work without power! You’ll never forget the sound of a fairly large approaching tornado though if you survive it!
Sounds to me like a very big train going really fast, but much louder. They are scary as hell that's for sure.
@@mikemose13y41 and you feel it down to the bone!
Dude I got to say that's the best filming footage that I've seen in a long time. Takes a lot of courage to stay out there with that damn monster coming towards you. Good job and not listening to the wife too. LOL
I don't know if you realize it or not but that's probably the greatest thing happening in nature that you will ever record without it harming you because not too many people get that opportunity......great footage
Dang this is the best footage of a tornado I have ever seen !!
HOW SAD! sending hugs and prayers to everyone from Ct xoxo
This footage is incredible
WOW! That thing has an absolute perfect shape to it. Legitimately looks like a wizard of Oz Hollywood tornado
Just Amazing!!!
I am so sorry for everyone there! I know devastation being on the Gulf Coast. God Bless !
That is amazing video. Hope no one was hurt.
It really is a shame that something which occurs in nature and looks so beautiful from far away is so deadly and destructive. Such a beautiful yet humbling and also unfortunate sight. I only hope the people who's lives and properties were affected are recovering now.
Great video of the tornado. It’s incredible to see the power of nature and what it’s capable of.
Wow, crazy footage!
What amazing footage!
It's a pity about the focus issues with the camera.
But those were some of the most stunning images of a tornado I have ever seen. 😲👀
Nerves of steel. Well done, mate. 👍

Y'all are damn lucky.
That is some heart pounding footage. 😬
My heart would absolutely leave me.
Amazing footage
Great job getting all this on video. Steady hands ✌️💥✌️💥✌️💥
This funnel actually looks photoshopped. It's actually beautiful. Thank you for not talking and screaming throughout this video, like most do. Nicely done.
Amazing film footage of the Kansas Tornado 🌪
I read your video description. Your mom sounds like we would be friends! 😂 Glad you are both okay
I posted on your part one video today, seeing part 2 still terrify me. Both you and your wife were really brave, I legit would have hid if I saw a tornado coming towards me.
Well, he was brave, lol not so much the wife!!! screaming the whole time!
My prayers with everybody. Stay safe God Bless
Great video, best footage I've seen without shaking hands. Thanks for the view, sad that so many lives were destroyed by this, but we don't control nature. 😢
Great camera footage. Intense.
