Bronze wing is my dream bird! They look like a miniature hawk with beautiful colors under their wings!
I am blessed with a 7-10yr (vet estimate age) old female eclectus that literally found me outside my home in a tree. I heard this super loud contact call and thought it was a chicken hawk that was injured and I started looking up and there about ten feet up was this bright red and purple parrot looking at me and lifting her foot for me to pick her up. I put my hand out for her to fly down and she would look like she was about to but then not so I got a ladder and she stepped right up on me. It had been windy for days and she was not only clipped she had her belly feathers and tail clipped as well. We did try and find the owner but with how windy it was and how bad of a flyer she was she could have gone miles! Our vet even said she may have been released on purpose because she was obviously mistreated. She’s been with me for six months now and her feathers have almost all molted and grown back. She is my bonded best friend. She did not talk when I found her but two months ago she started saying phrases I say to her all the time. In just two months her vocabulary has grown to over 300 words and she can have actual conversations! The first time she called me momma and said I love you I bawled my eyes out!!!!
What a heartwarming story! It's incredible how your eclectus found her way to you, and it's clear that you've created a loving and nurturing environment for her to flourish. The bond you've developed and the progress she's made in such a short time, learning over 300 words and expressing affection, is clawsome! If Mia ever says Mommy, I love you I would bawl my eyes out, too! 🥹 Wishing you both many more beautiful moments together!
Such a treat! Paisley and I are watching your podcasts every night while we have dinner together, and enjoying them very much! So lovely to find like-minded parrot owners! I don't know anyone who has birds, so this is really nice for me, so glad I found you!
Many years ago I went to pet smart and they had a sweet Quaker there locked up in a plexiglass case. I felt so sorry for him because he was sitting in one spot tapping his beak on the plexiglass out of boredom, and you could tell he's been doing that for so long because there was a dent in the plexiglass from his tapping over time… Broke my heart. So sad I couldn't save him but at least somebody else did. In Canada there is a limit to how many birds can be sold in pet stores per year, but still, it's not regulated enough. Anyway, thank you so much for your enthusiasm and love of our beautiful birds and for sharing that with us! I have a channel that I haven't made videos in a long time and now I am tempted to start making them just about Paisley :-)

The birds at pet stores break my heart, I am also trying to spread awareness about this and hope that one day pet stores won't sell animals anymore! Do you know what the limit is in pet stores in Canada? What species is Paisley? 😊

Paisley is the most beautiful pineapple green cheek and I need to make videos so I can show her off to the world :-) it was three years ago when I spoke with pet smart and don't quote me but I think there number four green cheeks was 12 per year if I remember correctly, although that may have changed now… Love your channel and your energy and your beautiful mia
