The fact that other wrestlers want to take a stunner from Austin just so they can say “I took a stunner” is a testament to how over Steve and that move were. 20+ years and still counting. An absolute legend!!

When you take a Stunner from the Texas Rattlesnake, you share an event not only with some of wrestling's greatest, but also with a man who stared a global deep state in the eyes and made it blink.
Trump sucked at selling the thing though.

This is why the reflexive hate towards other shows, namely AEW, doesn't make sense. Many promotions are simply trying to recapture that charisma that the Attitude/Monday Night Wars Era gave us. The Diamond Cutter was previously the Ace Crusher from Johnny Ace a.k.a. John Laurinaitis. Ace gave it to both DDP & Orton.
Hayes got the idea of the Stunner from the Ace Crusher.

It’s kinda funny that Austin’s brief stint in ECW back in 1995 is how he learned about the Stunner. Only, the guy who innovated it, Mikey Whipwreck, called it the Whipper Snapper, and even used it on Austin back then. Still, no one really does it better than Austin.
