The Bloodborne Review is finally here. It's quite difficult even in this point-by-point format for me to summarize everything I love about this game, and even my minor frustrations despite my belief the Bloodborne is a true masterpiece.
I hope you all enjoy the video! By way of your votes, we'll be marathoning the God of War series next and getting into the Shadow of the Colossus Remake when it releases in a few weeks. I'll see you there!

I totally agree. Bloodborne is my personal favourite game of all time. However I do have one gripe you didn't mention- weapon and upgrade material placement. Not only are most weapons only unlocked quite late on, unlike ds3 high-end upgrade materials (chunks and rocks) never become all that common. This really shepards the player into sticking with one or two starting weapons and is a real shame since so many of the best weapons most will never get to use.
You're right, this is a really great point that I forgot all about. The Rakuyo for example is my favorite weapon in the entire series, but because of it's location in the Fishing Hamlet (behind on of the hardest challenges in the game no less), it's very difficult to viably use it outside of NG+. Upgrade materials are rather scarce as well. The jump in the insight shop from 2 to 20 from twin shards to chunks is absurd.
upgrade materials will never be a problem if you do the dungeons lol
It's one of my favourite games of all time, but the thing I hate the most is how you need to find/buy blood vials so when I'm facing a super hard boss I have to stop and go grinding for blood vials, so that I can face the boss again.
Aidan Solomon aye, especially in the DLC I’d find myself doing runs between Gascoigne and the Central Yarnham bonfire every time I failed a boss fight. Even if you bought them they were pretty expensive.
My personal way is to go to the room in the school with the huge amount of ghouls, kill them, then use the souls you get from them to buy around 18 blood vials. Takes only a few minutes
Bloodborne fans all over the shop .... you'll become one of them , sooner or later.
Especialy on PC.
Роман Тарасов May Bloodborne guide you.
Hi father Gascoigne
Best bloodborne comment ever
it always gets to you
I see you took the character creator seriously
Hey man, when you focus on emphasising only one thing on the face (nose, eyes, mouth, etc.), it's worth it. My 1st character had an absurdly large nose that made some of the headgear look hilarious.
I made spiderus hes stunning
You see
My first character was Pepe the frog
You can do some seriously goofy shit with the Bloodborne character creator. Everything from heterochromia to horrifying facial deformities to weirdly colored skin.
@@zanekreger8041 my ds1 character is Pepe 😂
I also love how bloodborne's clothing and weapons are more of a "whatever suits your style" type of thing. In the Souls games everything has weight and damage types and a whole plethora of factors that you need to take in consideration before going in to a boss or a area. And while I'm totally okay with that, sometimes I don't _want_ to wear the better armor or use the better dps weapon, because the style of the weapon or the moveset doesn't feel nice.
Enter Bloodborne
"You think that looks cool? Wear that shit man, if you get hit you'll die anyway. You like this weapon's moveset and style? Upgrade the hell out of it and freaking obliterate the final boss. We fast. Man ain't no thrust damage gonna make you kill this dude faster, you're already fast"
I also like the fact that I don't have to worry about weight and my roll. I know it makes sense that heavy armor makes you slow af, but sometimes I just want to look cool and wear armor without having to spam stats.
In dark souls you can play whatever as long as youre nekkid and have 10 hp with the right rings lal
You‘re actually being biased like a lot. I love both of these games equally, while I think the weapons and clothing styles ARE cooler in Bloodborne, you‘re saying like Dark Souls forces you to use some kind of weapon or armor to beat a boss. There‘s people beating the game with a broken straightsword and without any armor at all. Yeah of course some weapon types will provide you a 5% damage boost against a certain boss, or some armor will provide you with 5% more resistance, still doesn‘t matter if you suck and if you roll into every attack directly.
Yes!!!
@@EpsilonBiatch I don't see the problem with being biased especially when its just for games. If he prefers a game because of said reason let him be.
And I bet you when he talking about *taking a plethora of so & so into consideration* he was aiming towards the point that the game incentivizes you to get better armor and weapons because of the nature of the game.
So your point is invalid with the broken straight sword (the type of people that will mostly play like that are experienced players who are doing some sort of challenge, there is no way these people are the majority)
(think of the beginners, they have no reason to do that because the game says otherwise). Think of the people that just started playing the game, Ik many people who would try to get "better armor" and weapons to combat the hard nature of the game.
hundreds of other people see that, surely you can too.
Does anyone else’s heartbeat start to pick up when hearing Ludwig the Holy Sword’s ost?
Every time since my first playthrough and I’m on my 56th now
Yup. Same with Rom, even though he's a very easy boss.
No
@@ill-grief372 I get hard when I see Rom
Little late but I get goosebumps every single time 😂
It pisses me of that Bloodborne didn't even get nominated for best sound track in 2015
Meta Cooler Agreed! Definitely way better OST than MGSV byfar
Arvid Ehn Yeah it was up against witcher 3 and it beat it in the action department.
The Game Awards are supposed to be taken seriously?
Overwatch Game of the Year? LUL
Ah yes the game that has caused the whole loot box problem the problem that has caused Law makers to know step in when they had no grounds in the past
And there were even better picks. (Warframe had been out for longer, stayed good for long-time fans, and made one of the most played games on steam just as an example.)
I had no idea about the counter damage.
So much makes sense now.
Martin Mcbride ikr I always got pissed at the game because the bosses just decided to do double damage to you even though I knew that it was the counter damage and that I rolled one to 2 frames late it always was unfair to me
I love most of the world Design jn Bloodborne but the forbidden woods makes me wanna die
Aidan Spiderman why? I live that place and go through it often cuz it's awesome
Charlie Marinello I dunno it was just annoying to me
Every games got that “sewer” level. Forbidden is bbs sewer lmfao
Rauskin Jäät try going through a forest filled with giant snakes that can spit poison in a place that looks like a maze
Liron Levi I actually enjoy exploring every corner of Forbidden Woods. Though I admit the big snakes spitting acid can be a little annoying - especially when they have their back against the wall so that you can't run around them. But overall, it's a lovely place.
I just wish the lamps were like the dr3 bonfire’s because going back and forth from the dream can be a pain in the hole
That damn Ludwig cutscene gives me goosebumps every time. It's just too damn perfect
I honestly want to find a way to put it into every single one of videos
bkam 707 wow have you even played ds2 its amazing
"Ahh, you were at my side all along... My true mentor... My guiding Moonlight."
Don't forget the epic soundtrack
It would honestly have a more profound effect on me if I didn't have to watch it upwards of ten times every time I fight that thing.
And even less so if most of those resets didn't occur within 5 seconds after that cutscene plays.
"I'm beating a dead Ludwig at this point" that's fabulous
ahhh Vaati, or some say VaatiVidya do you hear our prayers, as you did with questioning fans? Give us lore. Give us lore
I think Bloodborne is alright. Not a bad game. Better than many at least. It's darn good, is what I'm saying. Probably one of the better games I've played. I'd put it in my top 10. Maybe top 5. It's a great game.
I fucking love Bloodborne. One of the best games ever made, hands down.
I dunno its an alright comment, it’s definitely got its merits. It’s a pretty funny comment is what I’m getting at. I guess one of the funnier comments Ive read. I’d have to say its in my top 10 comments. Possible even top 5.
Certainly a great comment. I fucking love this comment, the greatest comment I’ve ever read, feet up.
Alex Heathcote I'm laughing way too hard at your comment. I'm bloody wheezing. 20 minutes later I'm going to look bad and wonder what was so funny about it.
How it feels playing Bloodborne for the first time perfectly described in this comment

Saw spear is better.
@@JohnDoe-pu5gk no.
@@Voidkin_ Yes it is, it does more damage in transformed mode plus it has more reach than the cleaver. At least do your research before u type something u know nothing of.
@@JohnDoe-pu5gk why are u so angry omg
@@JohnDoe-pu5gk the saw spear has serrated damage on both modes but it scales better in skill and saw cleaver does a little bit more damage, in its transformed mode it does vertical damage that is good to bosses like amygdala and ebrietas, and it scales better with strenght
Did I do my research now? Is it good for u??
I know they designed the blood vial system that way to add the survival game feel, but I think they could have made a few changes to make it better.
All enemies drop blood vials fairly often, and you always spawn with 10. This maintains the survival thing of trying to find blood vials, but it means you never completely run out and have to grind, *and* it means that players are actually incentivised to fight the enemies on the way to the bosses, rather than sprinting past them all like I usually end up doing if a boss gives me any trouble.
i wanted to be longer
and there is one thing i love about this game: Ludwig
Wait.... You take double damage when caught rolling??? Lmao i finished it thrice without even knowing it
C. Same! Seven playthoughs later...
Same here
Ye
This explains a lot. Like why Lawrence kills me so fast. Rolling through his wide strikes just to get hit at the end of the roll.
Ahhhh. After beating Bloodborne over 15 times I now know this 😂😂
If Bloodborne's lore truly does interest you, I'd suggest reading Redgrave's "The Paleblood Hunt" during your free time. If you like reading, that is.
It's a phenomenal 100+ essay, on Bloodborne's story. Divided up into ten chapters, each brimming with topics on characters, objects, and places that provide evidence and thought provoking theories. I hope I sold that well enough.
I've actually heard of this before but haven't sat down and read it myself. Even if I'm not the biggest lore buff, I admire how much the fans of the series' lore go in depth with their theories.
Haven't read it but have a theory on the great ones. Basically I think each great one can create a dream realty of their own. In the game there are 3 great ones that we kill and receive the nightmare slain title instead of prey slaughtered; moon presence, the wet nurse, and Kos (Not orphan of kos) the wet nurse created the nightmare where you fight mycolash and amygdala, kos creates the hunters nightmare and the moon presence creates the hunters dream.
Alex Eagle What about ebrietas, she's a great one
Irelia or Dodge I think she's just the daughter of a great one, not an actual great one, which is why she was left behind
it's a really good read, which surprised me quite a bit.
I bought the GOTY Edition from the UK so I could play The Old Hunters.
That DLC is so worth it
I remember when I got the game, I already smelt that I was gonna run out of violes pretty early so I just farmed up 620 violes and 620 bullets before killing shadows 😂
Loop Nugz you can have that many bullets up to 999 in storage, but fr VIOLES has to be auto correct
Scary
@@loopnugz1663 formless oedon runes intensifies.
Honestly, they could release another DLC for this game and it would still sell bonkers.
HaitianHallow as much as I would love that I feel like they shouldn’t mess with this classic at this point. If it was just a few new weapons and armor sets I’d be down but the story as a whole is perfect as is. The now need to make a spiritual successor like dark souls was to Demons souls that’d be the holy grail
Viktor_V/-\ughn* Da_Vaudville*_villaiN•• yeah I want another type of blood borne game
We all know what we all love in BB:
*Lady Maria*
SuBPolaricPL I think Ludwig is way better.
Evan Czarkowski is it the Placenta of Doom?
Ludwig is still my favourite boss. I love Orphan, but he didn't get me as hyped as Lud.
Was so hyped for Maria but destroyed her on second attempt. Wasn’t OP just got a good run. Orphan on the other hand was an epic wall.
Tbh orphan of kos is a better waifu
I absolutely love Bloodborne's atmosphere and gothic horror setting. It's really unique, the only other game that I can think of with this setting is Castlevania. Dark Souls' high fantasy setting while cool, is extremely common and done to death today in gaming.
agreed!! gothic horror is more common in novels, but not in games. bloodborne did it SO well. the setting felt like something "familiar", not because i've seen it before, but rather because it perfectly captured the concept of gothic horror that i've read from poe, lovecraft, mary shelly, bram stoker etc. when i play it i feel like i'm experiencing something really classic but new
Soulsborne is the 3d castlevania game that we wanted but never knew how to imagine
A huge problem I had with the orphan of kos fight was that I kept on having to farm for more vials after he would beat every few times
The atmosphere and music is what really drew me into Bloodborne. I'll never forget my first playthrough and how I felt. This is the only game I've ever considered to be 10/10, and I still play it religiously to this day, BB just doesn't get old for some reason, and I've had it since launch day.
Interracial Lobster I know I just started a new playthrough yesterday it’s so good I may try monster hunter world but I’ll prob beat B.B. one more time before I start
I wish I could replay BB for the first time again...
I agree. BB is the game that got me into this kind of game. I played some DS1 and DS2 when they were released. But it never clicked until after I played this. It forced me not to hide behind a shield and I applied that to DS1 and DS3. BB, DS1 and DS3 never get old to me.
This is one of my favorite games of all time. It's the first soulsborne game I played. After getting the Platinum on bloodborne I non-stop play all the souls game. Amazing game. Amazing devs and like so many other videos thanks for the amazing video demod
Reggin Bmud there is soon a remaster of ds1,play it
i started with Bloodborn, and then got DS3 later on. i've still been meaning to go out and get DS Remastered
The bloodvial “issue” is very real. Not being able to have healing items given to you, but rather needing you to farm them, is a very easy way to push away new players. I’ve just recently played Bloodborne properly after years and I’m so glad I did. It was a great game, because this time everything clicked, but previous times I’ve played over the years, the lack of healing and forced farming was brutal, especially when frustrated from dying over and over.
grinding for blood vials instead of being able to fight a boss right after is absolutely the most infuriating thing about this game
Thank you. I just up and quit this game because of it's healing and lack of builds and customization.
It's a great game but I should have played it before dark souls 3 as I feel that the combat was more my style and not as quick twitch.
@@genopurpleboy Sounds like a skill issue 😎
Am I the only one who got his ass handed to him on a platter by the cleric beast but found gasgoine to be a walk in the park? Am I just weird that way?
Nah I was other way around. But I hadn't leveled and it was my first time playing a FromSoft game. I had NO idea wtf to do, that he had the little music box, etc all that shit. Now I can beat gascoine with my eyes closed.
it took me more than 10 times to beat the cleric beast but three times to kill gascoigne , but then again bloodborne is my first soulsborne game and i still haven't finished it yet
I know this is an older comment but yeah same here, cleric beast was more challenging for me than Gascoigne. Gascoigne was killed in far less time then the cleric beast
I think its because they are two sides of the same coin, cleric beast needs a more aggresive approach, gascoigne needs more skill and timing. First timers either excell at one or the other. I found cleric beast easier and gascoigne really hard
I thougjt Gascoigne was much harder on my first playthrough. Now I find the Cleric beast harder because it can't be parried to oblivion
Amazing video, and I do agree. The Old Hunters is one of the best dlc Fromsoft has ever produced, and is one of the best dlc I've played. The only thing that I would add to the list of things to hate are those damn hunter npc fights.
Sean Clark yeah the gank squad does suck, but separating them does make it easier. I know is your own personal opinion, but I always dread running into them again every new game cycle. the Hunter with the rifle spear and Ludwig rifle outside grand cathedral can go to hell. the bloody crow of painhurst is just Satan in Hunter form. yuria and Edgar are both nightmarish with their rosmarinus, and all the npc Hunter fights from the old Hunter can go jump off a cliff.
apologies for making this so long. I love bloodborne with all of my heart, but the npc Hunter fights are the bane of my existence.
The Old Hunters is not one of the best DLCs made by From Software, its the best.
@@ultimateend7778 I know it has been like 2 years, but her name is 'Yurie' but don't mind me you can keep calling her Yuria hehe... he :)
I happen to like Laurence, he's by far the best re-skin in any of their games, with an actual surprise phase 2.
After finally getting and finishing the shit out of this game, here’s what I mostly loved and hated about it:
Loved
- How well the game has aged.
- Level Design and Atmosphere; when I 1st played BB, I was impressed even since the beginning, the entire city of Yharnam wasn’t only complex, but it also had very detailed scenarios. Plus, I really liked the gothic style.
Not to mention other places such as:
• Forbidden Woods; (am I the only one who actually liked the woods?), I liked its labyrinthic design, plus, I felt that I was in constant danger due to all of those giant snakes and creepy snake-men, and ofc, I also liked the eerie atmosphere.
• Central Yharnam + Old Yharnam + Cathedral Ward + Yahar’gul; I liked the way these 4 zones were connected and structured, as they actually made me feel that I was exploring an entire city, with many abandoned houses, dangerous alleys, streets full of mad people and beasts, Iosefka’s Clinic, churches, a workshop long abandoned by the hunters, etc. These 4 zones felt so similar, and at the same time, they felt so different.
Especially with zones such as Old Yharnam and Yahar’gul, exploring them made me feel that I was going through forbidden and forgotten places of the city, whereas, places like Central Yharnam and the Cathedral made me think how the city used to be in the past.
• Hemwick Charnel Lane; the place was kinda short, but I liked its atmosphere, seeing all of those old hags with torches, hammers and hatchets, plus the executioners, it made me believe I was entering a place cursed by witches, the boss sucked though, but I still liked this zone overall, I only wished for it to be a bit longer.
• Forsaken Castle Cainhurst; I liked this place from its name to its level design, also, I liked those “greek statues”, the only bad thing though, was how goddamn short and linear it was, I wanted to explore more, I wanted to see more, not only a couple of living rooms, a hall and a library, I wanted to see, dunno, a blacksmith? A training room? A dungeon underneath the castle? Etc.
But, I still liked this place, and, though he can be kinda annoying at times, I enjoy kicking Logarius’ ass every single time I restart the game, and, just like it was said in this video, fighting a sorcerer on the top of a castle was a cool idea (just like the Mirror Knight from DS2).
• Byrgenwerth and Lecture Building (1st and 2nd floors); I liked the university setting overall as well as I liked Rom’s boss room (save for the fight, which sucks), but, just like the castle and Hemwick, I wished for those 3 parts to be much longer, I wanted to see more.
So, overall, I thought BB’s level design was good, but I felt it had various zones with wasted potential, however, I think that one of BB’s strongest points is, indeed, the atmosphere.
- Combat System; I like how smooth the animations are + how fast paced the combat is + the unique weapons and many other things. I really liked extending my combos not only via R1’s and L2’s, but also by transforming my weapon, that plus the low stamina consumption, it made the combat very enjoyable (far more than DS2’s which is clunky and slow, something I don’t like personally), that’s also the reason for why I liked DS3 having a faster paced combat.
The only thing I didn’t like at 1st though (as I came from Dark Souls), was the fact that there weren’t nor shields nor armors nor poise (I really missed it, even DS3’s poise which I’ve always criticized, because of a personal preference). But then, I started to adapt to its combat, and now, every time I play DS1 (and especially DS2), I miss those quicksteps, the transforming weapons and the smoother animations, as for DS3 I don’t mind not having transforming weapons as the animations are still smooth and you can quickstep via daggers.
- Bosses; Like this guy already said on this video, the bosses had an unique charm, their designs were simply unique, and, personally, I liked certain bosses such as:
• Cleric Beast
• Gascoigne
• Bloodstarved Beast
• Vicar Amelia
• Martyr Logarius
• Shadows of Yharnam
• Amygdala
• Ludwig
• Lady Maria
• Orphan of Kos
There were also bosses that were kinda meh but I still liked them (Mergo’s Wet Nurse and Moon Presence)
And ofc, Gehrman was a great final boss, he was parryable, but, unlike Gwyn, he couldn’t be cheesed that way, you had to practice a lot, otherwise, he could beat the shit out of you with many of his wombo combos (and he can even parry you).
So, overall, I felt there was an evolution, from DS1’s simple but unique bosses (with some exceptions ofc, some of them good, and others bad), to DS2’s bosses (the majority being mediocre, but there were notable exceptions) to BB’s bosses, as they weren’t not only faster and more aggressive, but they also had more complex movesets.
- Soundtrack; BB’s soundtrack is amazing, themes like Cleric Beast’s, Gascoigne’s, Bloodstarved Beast’s, Watchdog’s, and many others defined their respective bosses perfectly, and ofc, Gehrman’s nostalgic theme, Ludwig’s and Maria’s *epic* themes, Laurence’s theme, etc.
- And, lastly, regardless if BB had the “Souls formula”, it still felt like a different, unique game. In Dark Souls there are knights, mythical creatures and dragons, in Bloodborne there are hunters, beasts and “aliens”, in Dark Souls there’s shields, armors, poise and rings, but in Bloodborne there’s guns, attires and runes, etc.
Hated
- Chalice Dungeons; I know that some people liked them and it’s respectable, but, personally, I hated them. They were the most repetitive, tedious and frustrating experience of the entire game.
The 1st ones are boring af, as they don’t offer anything significant, and the dungeons that truly are worth to explore are still tedious, reusing common enemies as bosses is a lazy design (“maneater boar” or “brainsucker” for example), plus, the Cursed/Defiled Chalices, although they are there not only for lore but for challenge purposes, getting one shot by the most annoying enemies is just frustrating (for example; those stupid-ass spiders that are summoned by the bell women), or by certain bosses with bullshit hitboxes (undead giant; cannon version, Ebrietas), etc. Unfortunately, the best Blood Gems are in the Chalices so...
- Certain areas; Nightmare Frontier, Nightmare of Mensis and anything related to poison or fucking frenzy.
- Certain bosses:
• Witches of Hemwick; why are they even considered as a boss?
• Paarl; who am I supposed to fight here? The boss? Or the shitty camera? I couldn’t even see what the hell was happening. Paarl’s design is cool and he has a quite simple moveset, however, if it weren’t for the camera, I would have surely enjoyed this fight more.
• Rom; if I hated Freja back on DS2, this bitch was even worse. Especially because, at least, you could scare away the little spiders in DS2 by just using a torch (SotFS version), but not in BB.
• The One Reborn; I just thought this fight was... meh.
• Ebrietas; her hitboxes are broken, and her 2nd phase is just bullshit. One of the worst bosses of the game, not to mention the shitty camera (again).
• Micolash; the concept behind him was quite interesting, a creepy-ass dude pursuing you in a haunted mansion, except he wasn’t pursuing you, but running like a bitch instead.
I know that kind of mechanic wouldn’t have fit with the Souls formula, as it would have required entirely different mechanics to deliver a true horror experience, but still, I was disappointed. Also, I didn’t mind the fight being confusing, what I disliked though was the fight itself.
In the 1st phase everything he does is just use the Augur of Ebrietas (tentacles), and that’s it, until you get to the 2nd phase which can be quite annoying; spamming A Call Beyond over and over again, one-shotting you even by just being hit by a single orb, and, that’s not the worst part, but the fact that you can cheese this fight by just throwing poisoning knives and stuff at him, he doesn’t even move at all, he just stays there like an idiot. So much wasted potential.
• Laurence; First off, he’s a reskin of the Cleric Beast (even if the lore supports it), secondly, I thought he was damn annoying during his 2nd phase.
• Living Failures; I just hate ganks.
- Certain enemies; cocksuckers, those stupid-ass brains, the hunter NPCs from the DLC that can one shot you and have a shitload of health, the Bloody Crow of Cainhurst, the fucking sharks from the DLC, etc.
- Certain mechanics; the fact that you receive double the damage by dodging at the wrong time is just... weird. Plus, it was always so tedious when I had to teleport back to the Hunter’s Dream just to teleport to another area (instead of doing it directly like in Dark Souls), etc.
- Low FPS (at times).
And that’s all.
Edit; Oh, and perhaps I didn’t mention it but, I loved the DLC as well, from the lore to the level design & atmosphere, from the beautiful soundtrack to the *amazing* bosses (the only exceptions being Laurence and the Living Failures), definitely the best (but hardest) part of the game.
Bruh....you took some very, very long time writing this text, didnt you? I read most of it. Thanks for sharing your thoughts, its beatiful to see how people love the game to expend so much time talking about it.
@@saymyname2618 Yeah I was bored and suddenly found the video :p. But, still, thanks for reading the whole speech, I usually let myself go when it comes to things I like, then I write a "speech" about it.
When I saw the trailer, I had always wanted to play Bloodborne, I loved the gothic design and the beasts (especially werewolves), I wanted to play it so bad until I finally could after 5 years.
DS1 is still my fav Souls game, but BB was just... an unique game, there's no other game I know of that mixes horror elements into a RPG game, or at least, not the way BB did. I still need to play Demon's Souls though, as I heard from many fans that it had the best atmosphere in the entire series, fortunately, there's a remake coming for the PS5 so, I'm hyped up.
Christopher Jarek Reynoso Ramírez I think that was hands down the longest comment I ever read
But I agree with 90% of your points
I feel like I'm the only person in the world who liked Rom
@@mewtube7600 im fine with rom its the fucking baby spiders that can instantly dive bomb and kill you
I love the music, just hearing it in the background I can visualize the boss fight
The main reason i don't want a BB2 is because i know they can't improve upon perfection
King Fancy i guess its the same problem that happened to dark souls. but one cant ever say no to more dark souls, so i dont really care if bloodborne 2 will be inferior because i know i will love it anyway.
Okay let me explain this. In all the endings in BB. They all have a clear ending.
(Spoiler Alert)
1st ending.) Where Gehrman takes your life under the tree the night ends forever.
2nd ending.) Where you take Gehrman's place in the Hunter's Dream in will just happen in a loop.
3rd Ending.) When you kill the Moon Presense in The Hunter's Dream. You become a great one. Where the Doll raises you.
I'm just waiting for Bloodborne remastered for Ps5. 60 fps, maybe with minor graphical enchancements, that's perfection.
BB and Dark Souls are my favorite games too, but that doesn't make them perfect. In Bloodborne there are at least a pair of bad bosses (Undead Giant and Amygdala, IMO, but also others) and the Chalice Dungeon thing could be designed better.
My gripe with the game is it’s too short, the lamp system sucked if you wanna restock on items you have to wait on 2 loading screens. If you choose to die by accident you dont get to fight the final boss, Which is BULLSHIT. it’s so unsatisfying knowing you have to beat the game all over again just to fight a boss.. But other than that i loved the game. I still like darksouls 1 better though.
Daaaamn man, when you're talking about the full package with that glorious music playing in the background and ludwig's transition on screen. Bravo, 10/10 for video editing.
Im still catching my breath since i fought with koss.
What a great game!
When I first started getting into the Souls games, I remember hearing that Bloodborne was the best game in the series. I sort of scoffed at that idea because initially it didn't seem like a game that would be challenging in a fun way...
I was wrong. So very wrong. Glad I stuck with Bloodborne due to your praise for it!
Bloodborne is my favourite game of all time. The story, the bosses, the areas, the weapons, the items, the lore, the enemies and especially the music. It just makes up a perfect masterpiece.
The great funguy this guy spoke my mind
Nah personally it's decent to me . My fav is the og dark souls

Fantastic video. Just started the game for the very first time and I’m trying to devour anything about the game. Great job 👍🏻
Ludwig's cutscene mid fight might be my favorite of all time. It's just....perfect.
Dan Allen honestly that one, the abyss watchers and lothric/Lorian. The whole “rise for that is our curse” reminds me of a “you and I are destined to do this forever” type of thing
MY GUIDING COMMENT
I got a PS4 specially for Bloodborne and I love it. I have bought DS3 Fires Fade Edition two weeks ago and I got so much better at souls games through playing Bloodborne. I can totally agree with your opinion and I love your and Vaatis video and oh my god... Did I hear Bloodborne speedruns? 😍
Yep! I'll be practicing the run live in a few minutes
theDeModcracy I hope that you'll upload that on youtube too because here in Germany it is really late right now. I have to go to sleep soon but I look forward to watching the run!
Larissa Masuch 1 month later it was free
I found most of the bosses in DS3 actually pretty easy except for the princes. I beat the dancer on my second try.
I got a PS4 specifically for Bloodborne as well recently. The only major gripe I have with the game is that after dying to a boss several times, I find myself out of vials and then I have to leave for a run through central Yharnam again, which absolutely kills the pacing for me. I am ashamed to say that I stopped playing after losing to Gehrman about 10 times, because I was trying to learn to parry him, and once I ran out of vials, I couldn't bring myself to go farm again. It's almost a deal-breaker or me, honestly. Is there anything you would suggest to avoid this predicament, other than git gud?
I don't uderstand why DeMod says that the Souls series just have a lot of weapon just for the sake of it. They have different stats and scaling which allows any build to have a weapon with a moveset they like and still be efficient with it.
None of them are cool, the coolest weapon on dark souls 3 is still lamer than the starting weapon for bloodborne
Alex I’ll take weapon and build variety over “coolness” any time
When this game was first a free psn game I played it and deleted it because of the bloodvials systems I came back to it and ended up beating it.
Same, first time I played it, got my ass handed to me. 2nd time, I had just beat Nioh, and thought I might be ready for Bloodborne. Nope. 3rd time, i had just beat Dark Souls 2, and went back to Bloodborne. I still got destroyed, but eventually I learnt how the game played differently and just recently beat it.
Same
Agree with everything in this video. This game is an absolute masterpiece.
BlockSquad1000 besides it being only on Ps4
I disagree. I don'tlike it.
@@trubochist2579 cuz you fucking suck casual
Zoitr3x yah fr I hate when 9 year olds say the game is trash because its too hard and then go play fortnite
@@trubochist2579 if it's too hard just practice a bit before you write it off as impossible. don't let your own ineptness stain your opinions.
Best souls game and my fav game ever alongside dark souls
REMASTER HYPE BABY
AverageSoul same
AverageSoul it’s not a souls game
@@lordbear1095 its a souls game with a skin xd
"I'm beating at a dead Ludwig" made me far more happier than it should have. Thank you.
I'm glad you used the "Lady Maria of the Astral Clocktower" during the soundtrack commentary. That's my favourite track along with "The Hunter's Dream" so you have earned yourself a like! My standards are... quite low...
Only seen like 3 minutes of the video, but THANK YOU for mentioning the sound design.
Well you got me into this game, as well as dark souls, so thank you a lot for that :D
Betim Kiseri He did it to me too.
3:40 he's right. It is what I'm watching after this 😂 thanks for reminding me DeModcracy
Did anyone catch the pun early on?
"I will give you my insight on Bloodborne "
Please don't hate me
Favorite game of all time
You can respawn enemies without a lamp: use Bold Hunter Marks. They all respawn, you keep your echoes, and you farm more echoes, repeat.
really enjoyed this vid Dmod! keep up the great content. I just finished a ng playthrough in bloodborne where, after days of agony, I finally beat the Orphan of Kos for the first time. by far the most brutal challenge I've faced in gaming aside from the two sharks at the bottom of the well.
I'm in the forbidden forest rn and so far this game is just amazing. Even without sound (Which is what I usually do because I like to listen to other stuff) I'm honestly invested in this world that's how great the level design is
I think i need to head back in to Yharnam to slay some beasts once again.
It's for your own good :)
Theres only one thing i want to say adout bloodborne.MASTERPIECE
small 5 ISSA MASTAPEECE BAYBEEE
Yes👍
This game's combat works out really well, as a person who has never used a shield in Dark Souls the more aggressive combat style was something I was already used to
Haha I have already seen Vaati's video and I'm still gonna go watch it again after this. Also, great vid man!
Does anyone ever mention the Chalice dungeon bosses? The watchdog of the old lords on a cursed dungeon run, pthumerian queen, and the npc who becomes a werewolf in the dungeon are some of the best fights not mentioned.
foxvbowser watchdog in the cursed pthumerian dungeon was the bane of my existence for so long
Queen, Abhorrent Beast, Bloodletting Beast and Elder are all great bosses
@@viktor_v-ughnda_vaudville_476 man I was playing 5 hours non-stop and recently beat him using the long reach of my favorite axe. God damn it felt awesome
Viktor_V/-\ughn* Da_Vaudville*_villaiN•• I genuinely thought I’d never be able to platinum the game because of him, i was stuck for so long, and then once I beat him I had the platinum the next day, and would have had it the same day had I not beat him so late in the evening
oh, i used to hate chalice dungeons but now i love them
great video dude! totally agree! BB is one of my favorite games of all time, and the lore, and atmosphere that sucks you into the world is what really captivated me. ive replayed the game so much, the combat is always fun with the trick weapons its perfect.
I really love your charter its awesome your really good and also i like how you talk about dark souls 3 too I’m coming back this weekend i cant wait .
My second favorite game of all time. Amazing soundtrack, amazing combat, awesome trick weapons, guns instead of shields, chalice dungeons, crazy art design, some of the best boss battles ever etc. Best game this console generation.
Brixzus Jaeger
what was your fave if you don't mind me asking?
Nomadic Savage I would have to go with the last of us. I think that game nailed everything. The opening, winter chapter, hotel basement, the ending etc. It's perfectly paced with amazing characters. I spent well over 1000 hours on it's multiplayer because it was just so good.
Brixzus Jaeger
Awesome! May have to play it if you rate it above BB I mainly just play rpg's and similar games but I'll deffo check it out, thanks for replying, have a good day :)
What's first
BLOODBORNE AND DEMOD IN THE SAME VIDEO ??? HOLY SHIT THAT'S AMAZING !!!
This video serves as a pretty well formatted review of Bloodborne (as well as all your love/hate videos about other games). I like that. Some reviews are just filled with cliche terms but I like how you stick to pros and cons.
I feel the same way about Yharnam being one of the best opening levels ever. It teaches you every mechanic and level design secrets just by playing it.
I have waited for this video for so long and it’s everything I hoped for and more
Wow demod you still always provide the best content without failing to bring a smile to my face and I couldn’t agree more with what you said about this game I do believe this is the best game ever created and you covered it without a biased opinion and showcase the pros and cons of a masterpiece so thank you so much for being my favourite CZcamsr thank can always lift my spirits
*that can always lift my spirits
Thanks for all of the kind words Prime, happy I can do my part to make your day a bit better!
theDeModcracy no need to thank me just keep doing what your doing :)
Central yarhnam is the best area in a game. The shortcuts, the mobs, the bosses are just beautifully done. It was my first fromsoftware game and I died so many times by that huge mob but once u get passed them and find the shortcuts the area just opens up
I share many of the same sentiments with this game. Out of the entire soulsborne series, I have the strongest connection to Bloodborne, partly because it was the first game of the series I played, and I have no regrets. I really agree your opinions on the level design and the music. That first big group area in Central Yarnham was a big challenge for me at first, as I had to really adapt and strategize before I was able to pass it. As for the music, I love the score of this game. As a person that has played music semi-professionally, I always think music is something that is often overlooked by most, but I'm happy to hear that you found it an integral part of the whole package. The music transition for Ludwig still gives me shivers.
Bloodborne is absolutely one of the best games ever
One of my favourtie games of all time. Amazing video.
Recently platinumed bloodborne and I have to say it was one of my favorite games to platinum with exception to one trophy, the one where you have to kill queen yharnam, a boss that is locked to the very end of the main chalice path. It wasnt because of difficulty, its because it was just an absolute boring slog to get through the dungeons, they are all bland and pointlessly complex to have to get through and requires you to go through 6-7 chalice dungeons to get to her, all the while running through an annoying maze that is visually numbing. Fuck that one trophy in particular.
Im doing it rn in my second playthrough. I just killed the first boss in the Pthumeru Ihyll Chalice Dungeon. He was a pain🙃
The music is absolutely amazing. Especially in the Hunter’s Dream (before you get over 40 insight) Hypogean Gaol and Upper Cathedral Ward. The Hunter’s Dream is so comforting and the doll actually always made me feel so damn good when I come back after a night of slaying beasts. Hail the Nightmare actually was the FIRST TIME music in a game ever made me feel true dread and fear (even though I killed EVERY ENEMY in the area). Soothing Hymn??? Same thing. and the Chandelier breaking turning the place pitch black with a bunch of strong Scourge Beasts made it all the more amazing.
Who is hyped for dark souls remastered? Ps. I love you demod and bloodborne is my favorite too
Even though though I just played it, I'm still amped to play it in a few months! Thanks for the love as well :)
You didn't mention how everything looks cool af in this game.
Sure all the series give a cinematic feeling to fights espetially in the bosses.
But the style the character , the npcs and the bosses give is much better in bloodbourne, of course this is counting the quickstep dodging, the weapon transformation animations, and the armor design.
P Lp I totally agree and for this being a game that was released early in the life of the platform there is still not a match when it comes to how well every aesthetic in the game from the movement to the atmosphere it just feels like your character is a living piece of a living world and it’s hard to nail down exactly why all I can say is that there’s Truly nothing since that captures the feeling of awe that playing blood borne gives me and is the best game to date if you ask me
I think only Ringed City's slave knight fight felt as cool and smooth.
@@GreedAndSelfishness knight fight, sick rhyme
I actually didn’t know about the double damage thing, and I’ve got the platinum trophy for the game. Shows how even after you know literally everything to do with the lore and have done almost everything there is to do in the game, you can still learn something.
Bloodbornes weapons reminds me of one of my favorite Turok games. You get a dart gun that later gets an attachment where you can turn it into a mini-gun.
My fav souls game.
Finally! Being my favorite Soulsborne game I’m glad to finally hear your input. Also just wanted to say thank you Demod. Because of your vids on Demon’s Souls I went out and bought a PS3 last week just to play it. I’m already on my second playthrough lol
Demon's Souls is incredible even in 2009! Glad to hear you're enjoying it
Literally did the same this year for Xmas. Thank you demod!
Yea I was lucky enough to catch demons souls very early and although dark souls would later become my fav game ever (until bloodborne) and change my gaming life forever I have to say I think demons souls is still a fantastic game and may be why I love B.B. so much as they are both standalone Miyazaki concept games and when he has the creative freedom outside of the phenomenon that dark souls became is when he’s at his best
man that theme for Ludwig the Holy blade gives me goosebumps everytime i hear it
I think one thing that could help I'm terms of the Healing Item is to regain only one if you have none upon respawn so that you atleast have something to go into the world with as a new player. I personally don't struggle with healing items but it could be an idea
I've been waiting so long for this!!!!
Oh God I can't wait for Bloodborne 2
Ah man when you start talking about it being the full package with ludwigs soundtrack and fight gameplay I just can’t agree more I’ve been playing games since I can remember and that fight, with that music with that atmosphere is when gaming reached its peak for me I don’t think there will ever be another moment in any video game that will make me feel that way again
i'm so glad i found this channel. i dunno why but i love it!!
Did you enjoy Nioh ? I would love to see a bosses ranking by you or a complete review of the game and DLC.
Fans voted it pretty highly in a recent poll for games they'd like me to play, so there's a good chance that happens down the line. God of War series and Shadow of the Colossus first!
theDeModcracy Sounds like many awesome videos are planned ahead. Keep it up, man.
do it plez
Nioh is fucking shit.
I mean while Nioh bears some similarity with Dark Souls, it is vastly different
As much as I looooove DS1 and now Elden Ring as well, Bloodborne really is just the height of the series, problems and all.
I really wish chalice dungeons had been better. I ran through a few and was just like nah thanks.
Lol, just noticed you left the Wet Nurse off in that boss list at the end :)
I love how bloodborne has a way to make everyone come back to where you where earlier
For example, later on in the game you come to where you you first spawn: Iosefka's clinic
its kinda hard to get there though
1-20 thing I hate
The fact that The dlc wont show up in psn store
Love #
*laughs in ludwig*
I'm so close to getting though DS1, then I got DS2 & 3 waiting for me. But, I guess if I ever get though those I will have to give BB a shot as well.
I really don't like how switching weapons is forced onto an attack after actions. I wish at times I could just roll and switch weapons without having to attack or wait for the second input window to end, same with attacking and then switching. Jump rolling after runs is a pain too
I can never decide on what is my favorite game of all time BB or Dark souls 1 they’re both so perfect in so many ways I think I’ll live the rest of my life having two games considered my “favorite” game of all time .. and DS3 and 2 are also fantastic just not the same level as BB and DS1
Loved the video, but you came back to calling Vicar Amelia "Vycar"
My hate is when there’s a bunch of enemies in a doorway that you can’t go around, I’m looking at you research hall
The thing i love is when ur climbing the first ladder u hear the cleric beast roar which could be when it turned to a beast
