    In this video I attempt to show you how to install the R&G Radiator Guard on the 2021 Kawasaki Ninja 1000SX. The tight work area made it difficult to video, but I believe I captured everything needed for you to get it installed.
    In this video:

    Thanks for the vid, but not sure why you made such hard work of the adhesive pad cutting, would have been much easier cutting length ways? 😂

      I couldn't help but laugh at this - you are correct - length wise would have been much easier lol. Guess it was just one of those moments the brain didn't work.

    Bike or car or any vehicle, the right and left side is always as viewed in the travel direction, ALWAYS, please don't confuse this. 😊

      Thanks - I only did that once and others mentioned it so never doing that again. Will always refer to proper sides 👍

      @BlueEyedRider84 Good 😄 I just got my radiator guard from China, it looks like the Evotech one but without the branding, only problem is they shipped it in a plastic bag so it was buckled when it arrived. 😟

      I got it from Amazon - this link will redirect: blueeyedrider.com/ninja/1000sx/rg/radiator-guard
      Looks like it is out of stock right now. You can also get it from R&G direct, but I think it is $20 shipping because it is overseas, however it is cheaper on their site initially. $59.99 pounds to USD is about $80 so the price ends up being less but you will have to wait a bit for it to get here: www.rg-racing.com/browsebike/Kawasaki/Z1000SX_(Ninja_1000)/2017/RAD0090/#
      You can try to see if you can find it at some other online retailers as well:
      RAD0090BK
      It is worth the investment

    my experience Concours and a Z1000.. RG on both, good quality still good air flow.. now, next., the short in back half of front fender, riding in heavy rains airbox gets water bike starts missing badly, have to slow to 40 till out of rain. RG makes back of front fender extensions. work great, even look kinda cool custom. uve been warned

      I haven't experienced that yet, granted we haven't had many major rain storms of late - but good to know, thanks for the heads up

    While I like the idea of the guard, I can't help wonder how much the cooling airflow gets slowed or reduced moving through the radiator.

      I have not noticed a single bit of difference in temperature. Now I am in PA so we don't have extremely hot weather, but even in 100 degree weather I have had no issues.

    BTW, why not just take the side fairing s off?

    • @BlueEyedRider84
      @BlueEyedRider84  Před 2 lety

      Would have been much more work. This is really just a 5-10 minute install if not doing video. Removing the side fairings would have doubled that or more.

  • @ful48j
    @ful48j Před 2 lety +1

    I'm a bit surprised and confused as to why you are reversing the normal method of right & left on a vehicle (any vehicle).
    For everyone & everything else the left and right are determined by when you're sitting (or seated) in or on the vehicle, bike, motorcycle, car, bus, lorry (truck), plane etc.
    It's the same as referring to the left or right on our own bodies; our heart in on the left, not the left as we look at someone, but our own left facing forwards.

    • @BlueEyedRider84
      @BlueEyedRider84  Před 2 lety

      This is a matter of perspective of the video, which is why I clarified in the video to avoid confusion for anyone who may think right side must mean right side of video compared to right side of bike. By making the right side of the video the "right" reference point, it makes things easier. It could go either way, and it really depends on the person. I figured less confusion in general compared to me saying something about the right side but in the video its to the left of the frame. That's all.

    They should come with cushions already installed. Lol They don’t even cut them to correct size.

      @@BlueEyedRider84 i just don't know where to install them. I have a different bike and a different guard. Just wanted to see if it really mattered or not. I just think that after a bit of time the adhesive will melt or something, idk though.

    • @BlueEyedRider84
      @BlueEyedRider84  Před rokem +1

      Adhesive gets tackier with heat - and because the guard is bolted on they are held in place with pressure. So while when they get hot they may get loose, as soon as it cools it will stick better again. There is no specific placement. Just around the edges at least near where the bolts are, then preferably mid way between the bolts. Vibration noise is your preference - but protecting that expensive radiator from potential wear (specifically vibrations in between the bolts) is the main reason for them. Granted, it would probably take quite a while before it would wear a hole, it still is better safe than sorry. That's just my two cents.

  • @davidmandell9909
    @davidmandell9909 Před 2 lety

    DO NOT PUT A GUARD OVER THE RADIATOR ON THIS OR ANY MOTORCYCLE!!! THERE IS A REASON THE MANUFACTURER DESIGNED THIS RADIATOR AS THEY DID.
    Any guard or attachment over a radiator severely restricts necessary air flow and cooling- especially in warmer, humid climates.

    • @BlueEyedRider84
      @BlueEyedRider84  Před 2 lety +1

      I assure you that I have traveled in 110 degrees in stop and go traffic and my motorcycle hasn't come close to overheating. I have on the other hand had a rock go through a radiator before, nearly put it down from the slick coolant that ended going on my tire and had to get a tow to get it home. So while I understand the restriction to the air flow, these guards do not restrict that much. I would guess that unless you live in Arizona or somewhere that it reaches 120+ that it won't be an issue, as I have found with my travels.
      That being said, always use your own judgement, and always keep an eye on your gauge clusters and readouts.

      @tylerharrington4515 Před rokem

      I've heard this before. You're both probably right. It restricts airflow and protects against catastrophic failure. Maybe the guard is marginally good for long trips and marginally bad for short city commutes? I'm trying to avoid wasting on unnecessary accessories like I did on my last bike. Keeping the 1000sx as stock as possible but you need SOME accessories, spools, tank grips, etc.

    • @ribalderr6052
      @ribalderr6052 Před rokem +1

      the one I originally had was too restrictive, Concours got hot, put this same RG on., and a Z1000, no problems since. theres good ones an Bad ones, RG stuff is good, just get a quality one, not ebay.
