With every passing interaction, Greg becomes slightly more unhinged.
He’s been unhinged for a while now 😂
Considering how he lost his wife and dealing with every other player’s BS (including Baradun’s incessant antics), Greg has reached his breaking point.
Long-term consequences of handling garlic every day.
@@VivaLaDirtLeagueIt was loosing his wife that did it right? That pushed him over the edge?
@@VivaLaDirtLeague I’m interested to see where his story arch is headed
Greg's grandma dies. Popup appears.
> "With this character's death, the thread of prophecy is severed. Restore a saved game to restore the weave of fate, or persist in the doomed world you have created."
Gotta love morrowind!
MORROWIND MENTIONED
You just explained a play through of starfield.
Me when killing Vivec;
And the last time you saved was just after the tutorial.
"agh... Shes dead! she died just now" killed me 🤣
"Murder! A crime punishable by death!"
*Greg's heart breaks*
For the types of games I am familiar with , things are usually the opposite. You may be on an urgent quest too save the world, but you still have time too talk to Npc's, explore, complete all the minigames, travel back to your starting town and run around on chocobo's. When you get to your destination, it will always be at just the perfect time to have maximum drama, regardless of how long it actually took. Villian's are very patient and wait for you.
Wholesome villains
Not that way with out of bounds lol
Gotta be the most frustrating thing when you're trying to take a short cut, but instead the NPC just stops and you have to go back and get them 😂
It's even more frustrating when you CAN"T follow NPC cos HE takes a shortcut you are unable to jump trough or there like 3 agrvated hungry bears on path (that will ignore NPC but not that fresh snack - you) or fire etc.
Frea
Glad Skyrim usually have the option for "we will meet there" and they aren't bothered when we abondon the quest midway. In fact theres no way to abandon the quest lol
Imagine how frustrating it is for the npc, who has planned this scenic and you just don’t give a f*ck 😡
Nah, what is worse is when you take perhaps 5 steps ahead of single path available, then they stop to ask that you get back because you are too far from them. So you walk back only to watch them walk to exactly where you were. So stupid.
The only thing missing was the next scene be the Player heading back to Honeywood, all sullen and crying, only to pass Greg at his Garlic stall and saying "Ah Adventurer...I need you for an urgent quest to save my Grandmother..." like Nothing has happened.
Yeah, I was expecting something like this, lol
Nah, he abandoned that quest. It's gone for good. Along with the subplot where Greg's grandma is actually the head of the dirt league.
@@sambathelionking She probably turns out to be the Grand Archmage Karen...
Indeed, just restart the quest.
after eliminating the Q-fail greg
But Honeywood is very far away.
The person who does the subtitles for your videos deserve a raise, his addicional messages are so funny!!
Edit: The whole team behind it deserves!
Shout out to our amazing editing team
Went back to see how they handled it and was not disappointed! Guess I have to watch every VLDL video twice now. What a bummer for me.
**squeak** SENT ME! 🤣🤣🤣
@@Kipagamiyou're gonna love it. It's like replaying a game only to realise you've missed half of it on your first playthrough...
Putting on subtitles for their videos is like finding a hidden easter egg.
0:54 I really thought this was the kind of out of bounds that kills you if you're there for too long- and I thought that Greg was finally showing his true power of just being able to kill anyone at will if given 5 seconds.
Accept the quest again and the sickly grandma will respawn.
And Greg won’t be angry anymore 😍
@@VivaLaDirtLeague I want to see the one where this happens and he's pissed off the entire time about having to run the quest for the adventurer who's just smug af.
@@VivaLaDirtLeague you'd like to think that..
Player: *Saves Greg's grandma*
Greg: "Thank you, player, for saving my grandmother."
Also Greg: *background turns monotone as Greg stares into the players soul* "But you still let my poor POOR grandma die the first time and that version of her is never coming back."
That's cheating. Roll a new character. That will teach ya
You are free to go wherever you want Adventurer... you can go as far as the length of your leash! 🐕
Just like real life...
"Now bark like a good little adventurer, and you'll get your reward"
*PC whimpers*
Like hiking with my parents! :D (q-q)
I always find it funny the lengths game developers will go to keep people from harmlessly exploring. They'll leave game breaking bugs in the game for years untouched. But some minor exploit to get out of bounds. That's is quickly patched. 😂
Or if there is an unpassable twig on the path - those can't be averted even with a pocket horse
It just dawned on me. Greg is like Morty from Rick & Morty.
- traumatized
- mostly kind
- mostly sane
- don't you dare cross him when he had enough
- voice
Yeah that outro was very Rick and Morty
- dead grandmother
Nah.
Luckily that is quest Greg, so normal Greg won’t know about this
Truly this is the way forward. No invisible walls blocking your path just an NPC going absolutely feral on your ass if you dare try and leave them.
Would be new lol
Or the NPC try to gently get you back on the path, but if you stray too long or too far the higher level enemies will attack you.
I remember the first Gothic from ages ago had no invisible walls and you could get to pretty much any place on the (comparably small) map.
But if you took a wrong turn and weren't extremely careful, you would run into enemies you had very little chance of beating. And with that I mean they kill you in one hit but you need dozens to kill them. Still possible if you wanted to challenge yourself. Unless there were more than one. Then you were practically dead.
Edit: NPCs would usually either lead the way and stop walking if you strayed too far or follow you wherever you went. Both could get them easily killed.
Because of flying in BG3, Larian marked all hard boundaries as "Chasm" and players quickly learned what "Chasm" meant - even if it was an impassable hillside 💀
Was thinking this - like instead of a timer, just have a huge bear maul you.
Dark Greg is finally back and giving out tons of trauma
Now the world is back in balance.
You can tell it's dark Greg because the garlic has a goatee on it.
Got light goosebumps from his aggressive acting 🍷
Nod if you understand
Maybe if Greg's wife hadn't been so cruelly *deleted* Dark Greg wouldn't be the way he is. But we'll never know.
Starting as a Guest Character (or Debuting) with the words "thanks for having me" - brillant :D
Yeah, I was wondering, "Who is this guy? Is he new, or have I missed too many vids?"
I love how the adventurer’s more sad about Greg’s grandma’s death while Greg is just pissed 🤣
Him crying at the end brought at a tear to me eye. Peak acting 👏
I must have a weird side cause I had a chuckle when he cried
also got subtitles
@@lazyboytitan3178 you do know that most comments here are like sarcasm or an over-exaggeration of what that person actually feels right? 💀🤦🏻♀️
Tf
Sounded to me like he was singing.
Grag entered his villain arc 💀
Finally!
Greg is actually the final raid boss of all of Skycraft. Shhhhhh....
not quite passive but very aggressive path.
Grag is to Greg as Wario is to Mario...
@@VivaLaDirtLeague Losing Greta really took its toll on him
They always do such a great job of finding really skilled actors.
For a NPC on a quest, Greg was walking far too fast. 1/3rd player speed max
No. 1/3 player run speed but 2x player walk speed.
Greg has a dark side. He tied up a hero in his burning pub to keep it open, threatened a hero with a knife & now this. Don’t f**k with Greg! 😂😂😂
You forget the uncensored greg
Don’t forget how fast travel works. That’s fairly sinister.
You should watch their DnD game! 😆
skip
That what happens when you gain sentience
I just love how the subtitles for his crying say "squeak squeak" and "whistle note?"🤣
Phoenix: "I dare not stray from the road!"
Oh, my bad, it's "I dare not stray from the road, not path" 😅
Greg has been hanging around Baradun too much 😂😂😂
When Harlekwin do the walk of shame back to Honeywood, asking for Greg's forgiveness, all he will hear is...
"Ah adventurer! Welcome to Honeywood!"
I'd love him to be "Ah, you again."
And then he retakes the quest to save his grandma.
@@Lavourrin Complete with the knowledge that you failed three times before... getting slightly more salty and less emotional with his repeated dialogue each time.
@@plektosgaming Greg isn't aware of previous failures. He's not Sans.
Without his grandma Greg has nothing to lose. We're all in big trouble.
And thus, the saga of _Dark Lord Garlic Farmer_ begins- (oh god that totally sounds like it belongs in the name of an anime 😂).
uh the Garlic farm? can still lose that.
@@dustinherk8124 What if I told you there never was a garlic farm?
He's already lost his wife and child. The man's looking to off the next adventurer.
@@pyredynasty but he's Greg the garlic farmer. not Greg the garlic scalper. buying the town's entire supply and reselling with a large mark up. (thats actually genius though)
i love that Greg just magically knows his grandma died at that very second. Silly omniscient NPCs
This reminds me of Zelda TOTK. At one you are on an NPC quest. You are free to leave, but the NPC, named Tulin, tries to guilt trip you into returning. “I’ll just be here waiting” or something like that.
[path bends in a U shape] it's quicker if I just cut across here...
[NPC stays put, waiting for me to come back and walk the entire path]
The NPC just needs more time to tell you about some NPC nonsense.
Greg: "The quest failed, you murderer."
Me: "Oh no!" *reloads from quicksave*
...
Greg: "Hello, adventurer!!! :)"
Greg laughs in *only autosave*.
Mmos don't have "quick save"
@@justanotheryoutubeaccount0 Azerym is some wierd hybrid between an MMO and a single player RPG. They've had characters get caught in bad quicksave mechanics before, like doing it a second after stepping off a cliff.
@@Sigurther fair enough
You should do an episode expanding upon this about breaking the boundaries of the map where the details slowly lose their complexity, and where you might even find, “cut content”? Seeing some NPC trapped outsized the map since launch finally seeing an adventurer after years would be cool.
Wasn't there a game that had all the NPC's "stored" in a room under the map inactive or something so they could be moved into position and activated when needed?
Played by Hamish, I assume?
There was one about stepping out of bounds breaking everything, causing Rowan to slowly sink into the ground and then fly through chaos. Haven't the faintest idea which specific video it was, though... it was definitely in the Ben vs. Rowan compilation.
@@galewin8942 oh yeah I saw that one. I thought it’d be interesting to expand upon it
I love the subtitles. It feels you don't get the full experience without them.
NPCs are like "This is MY adventure, not yours, 'Adventurer'" **spit**
Looks like the "Greg with a knife who made players stop skipping his dialogue" is back in the neighborhood.
Nod if you understand...
Along with tavern Greg that kept Adam tied up in the burning flames
*nods* 😨
Adventuring with Bodger, Bob and Baradun really took a toll on his mental state.
I think that adventurer has the censor slider at HARDCORE.
Out of character... unless SOMEONE doesn't invest a single point into Charisma.

It’s my personal head cannon that the events of “NPC D&D” gave Greg D.I.D. And that’s why he snaps and goes OOC from time to time under stress! 😅
2:03 *squeak* *squeak* *squeak* *whistle note*
the subtitile is so amazing XD
Nah, that wasn't out of character for Greg.

[nervously nods diligently]
Greg is a Cleric now, he manages these urges usually
Dark Greg should organize a shame-walk for this "adventurer", so he can learn his lesson. SHAME! SHAME!
With Dark Adam following him and crying
I love the continual consequences of abandoning a quest shown. Would be kinda cool if more games did something like that.
His Gramda dies.
Greg : SOUNDS LIKE A YOU PROBLEM!
The code is... malfunctioning guys.
"With this character's death, the thread of prophecy is severed. Restore a saved game to restore the weave of fate, or persist in the doomed world you have created."
Is that an actual quote? If so, where from?
@@thecrazyinsomniac Morrowind had that quote, don't know if others did.
"Reload to a previous save!"
"This ain't an Elder Scrolls game, bub. Go back to the character creation menu."
@@leyrua Now that's sadism.
@@leyrua No problem, just have to restore a previous save state because the devs were lazy.
I truly appreciate the subtitles. Not every creator goes for that extra step.
whistle note
I lost it when he said, "It sounds like a fucking you problem." 😂😂
I have only one tiny suggestion, that should have unlocked a permanent title for the player "Grandma Killer"
“Well what should I do?! 😢”
Pick up the quest again. Greg’s threats and guilt trips can’t defy the order of all RPGs.
It could be like Witcher series, where it cuts off the quest line or even introduces a new main campaign path, though.
Love that Greg is breaking out of his Matrix!
Greg evolving into a Neo type character would be cool!
They could then introduce an Agent Smith type of character to try to bring Greg back into compliance.
So many options!
This needs more up votes
😎
Didn't they kind of already do this with the maintenance skit?
0:58 hand up to show 5 seconds, shows wedding ring. No wonder he's bitter and angry, missing Greta 😞
Unhinged Greg is okay, unhinged potty mouth Greg, not so much. Greg sets a standard, let everyone else be a sailor mouth.
He’s still satly that His wife, child, and sheep are still missing, and that someone sold his Grandfather’s Sword.
Greg's character arc from amok-running sheep owner to sickly-grandma haver is just sublime
Are any of us really surprised whenever Greg snaps? There's only so much BS a simple garlic farmer can stand.
Greg is losing his sanity knowing he's an NPC in a video game.
Player: (Accidently leaves path because he's new to the controls)
Greg: So you have decided to murder my grandmother have you?
"She's dead! She died just now!"
No, Greg, I'm dead. 🤣
Greg has seen too much. His villain arc will be good.
This is honestly a better way of dealing with going out of bounds, than being labeled as a traitor and destroyed by your ship's own stratagems in Helldivers 2.
i love how Greg just looks so fkn done with him hahaha "you didn't make shit".
Harlekwin trying to imitate Adam's cry was gold
Wut? He was imitating Adam? O.o This guy's cry sounded more like a sustained soft squeak, compared to Adams very exaggerated up-and-down in pitch type of cry. Im not trying to be rude, im genuinly wondering if i missed something (my hearing hasn't been the best lately..)
Greg slowly becoming the Rick Sanchez of Honeywood
Whether as Alan in Bored or Greg in Epic NPC, whenever Alan goes psycho mode is always a treat to see.

Great closed captions with a great music and or sound effects... The humor in these videos is so high... 😂

Awesome discovery! I guess I need to rewatch the whole playlist again with captions on :p
@alexanderjarde3971 honestly when I realized how much I was missing not having their closed captions on I could have screamed in frustration.

Should have had the guard show up after nowhere going “murderer!!” As greg says the blood is on that guys hands 😁
"You there! fuck you!" -- guard Rowan
Better idea: Greg conjures blood onto the guy's hands.
greg's evolution that has happened in D&D that is happening in the EPIC NPC skits is both hilarious and really good job of continuity
I'm pretty sure Greg did that to not get replaced by "the plushy"

Gregs accelerating descent into madness (or perhaps slow relevaltion of his already present madness) is one of my favourite things
I wonder if Greg will ever remember everything he's been forced to forget... I could totally see him walk up to a boss, unimpressed, he reaches into his own code and makes himself elite and just pwns it, then turns it back down before the devs have a chance to catch on.
Greg was out of bounds with that speech.
Nah, the adventurer definitely crossed Greg's boundaries with this one
Get back on the f**kin’ path!!!
@@V3RTIGO222 It was just a joke, played on the skit (and title).
VLDL got it 😋
When the adventurer goes to bury Greg's grandmother with dignity, he can take the opportunity to chat with the grave diggers: they will be able to explain the game mechanics to him ⚙️
One of those precious few scenes where Greg lets it all out.
He loves doing it almost as much as we love watching it.
My favorite is when the escorted NPC slow walks right toward a monster that would be easily evaded, runs at light speed toward the scrum and starts to get completely owned, and then after you save him, runs *back* to where it all started only to slow walk again.
“I made it, I’m here!”😮💨
😡 “you didn’t make shit!”

I was half expecting Greg to summon poppy to shoot the player down.
"Don't you dare traverse!" 😂😅 This is by far one of the top ten funniest EPIC NPC MAN videos VLDL has ever produced 🤣. Top notch.
Greg has been drinking too much coffee. Respect the Greg, fear the Greg...
I like how Greg was like "You can go enywhere you want!" Also Greg when you walk 0.0001 inches away from the path...
How is it even possible to have misspelled that?
@@ViirinSoftworks - It's possible to misspell enything if you try.
I love how greg says you can traverse anywhere and the next instant the player does, he yells at him lmao
this has been one of my absolute favorite Epic NPC man skits YET!!!!
the funniest part was when he said "*squeak* *squeak* *squeak* *squeak* *squeak* *whistle note?*"
"oh... he was serious"
I fully expected him to drop dead after the timer ran out
The part where they were walking and talking about going anywhere, then he does go anywhere but Greg gets mad and tells him to get back and he tries but can't get back in time then Greg is mad because the quest was failed... That part was so funny!
The scary thing was Greg's look of evil pleasure as he watched the adventurer try and fail to get back. He was just waiting to punish them.
New GUY is superb acting
Don't think he's a new cast member. Video description lists him as a guest actor. Milo Cawthorne.
That whole scene where the adventurer tries to hurry back but somehow walking becomes increasingly more difficult it's me in my dreams every time I need to escape or hurry.

That wasn't out of character. That was terrifyingly true to character. And I love it.
- What can I do Greg? - We can comeback to camp and try to save my grandma again
Dark Greg makes me think he would be a great hidden villain of the Skycraft universe
I hate it when I walk away from my friends and their Grandmothers die
I'm loving Greg's character development over the years. In another year or two, he'll be the main villain pulling all the strings behind the scenes.
Greg: You FAILURE!
Adventure: *emotional damage*
I LOVE IT! It's like a little snoo kitten growling for the first time!!! lol
I don't know who the new actor is but we need more of him ♥♥♥
Note to self: never disobey Greg or there will be consequences
Almost as bad as being distracted by a new side quest when you're between objectives on a completely different side quest. Would love to see an episode with that scenario. "Hey, adventurer - did you not understand the urgency of this part of the quest? We have to go and explore the area where the missing merchant was last seen! Time is of the essence! And now you're volunteering to find this herbalist's lost goat??"
"What should i do?"
"Come back later, i have a quest for you. And also the memory of a fruit fly!"
