- Ahh Lumity! Our favorite sapphic relationship. If only was that easy for Luz to find out if acting as an ordinary person is actually essential for being in young love... Or maybe... She could just act as herself...? That's what makes people human! Insecurity is complicated...
After 3 weeks of working I finally managed to finish my biggest project yet! Thank you to my friends who managed to keep me sane (and well, for those who took care of my sleep HAHAHA!!), love you all.
I've been REALLY into The Owl House, so you should definitely stick around for more of that content (OC animations are still going to be a thing too!).
And believe it or not, these are my first drawings of those characters, so the style is still gonna be adjusted later on.
Lots of hidden stuff here! Symbolisms here, secrets there, let's see if you can find those! They are my favorite part, definitely! Some of the animatic also has a few of my own experiences, so it's kind of a mixture between Luz and myself.

I really love how you capture the fact that Luz was and has never been fully loving of herself. that even though see seems like she's doing fine, she really is alone. And she feels those sad feelings that comes with being excluded, from feeling estranged from the world. I don't see that every often when I watch TOH Animatics.
You, SunNekoChan, represented the part of Luz we don't see very often. and you really hit the nail on the head! She wasn't all doom and gloom, because that's just not Luz. But! you showed that side, and little monster in her head, that tells her: "What is it she sees in this cluster clump of me?" and "What's the point of falling when I know I'm only stalling?

I am not autistic but i often dont feel like i dont fit in and even my friends often say i am weird or boring or too loud or somehting, but last year i met some people (one or two years younger than me) and i was never before more myself than in this week. They said they liked me and said i am weird, but in a nice way. Since I met them i know, there are people who could maybe understand me or are like me and when i finally find them i will be the person i am, without doing things i only do, because I try to be someone they may respect. So I am sure if you search long enough you will find the best friends you will ever have💛
Same well I'm not exactly autistic but I am really weird I can relate to luz a lot I know how hard it is to make friends in fact it's scary but the owl house helped me realize that I could find friends (I always find myself not fitting in or feeling like the only one if you know what I mean) but it just takes time to find the right people 😊

I know ordinary is supposed to be like a sequel of little miss perfect in a bi way but the neurodivergent aspects are much more apparent to me and honestly I like that
In fact, ordinary is a supposed to be representation of Luz, because the ToH fandom basically adopted Litttle Miss Perfect
I love how The Owl House has one of the few fandoms that knows how to write and display the characters perfectly when making media based on it.

I love how the lineart starts really sketched and slowly gets cleaner as more colors/lighting effects are added until- BOOM full color and Luz’s made a breakthrough!
I've seen a lot of 'Ordinary' animatics but there's something about this one that just tugs at my heart and makes me want to sob. I can just feel the heart and soul of the show and the essence of Luz's character.

UNDERRATED. THIS ABSOLUTELY CAPTURES LUZ'S FULL CHARACTER AND JUST- AH. IN LOVE. This characterization isn't only perfect, but it truly focuses on Luz. Sure, Lumity is still a big part but Luz is getting so much love here and I'm here for it!
I love the coloring at the end. It helps better capture Luz coming to accept herself.

I love how u managed to combine multiple aspects of not just the show but also the details that makes it so relatable. Plenty of lumity moments, luz and her struggle of not being understood along with her development throughout the series. Not to mention a bunch of easter eggs from other shows too. Being a socially awkward nerd, I honestly find this to be amazing😍
This is my favorite one!!! I love how Luz is bugging King - like she just needs someone to watch her vent! And I love how you showed how Luz's love for Amity and her love for the magical realm are so interconnected. Other animatics are vague about her dread for going back home, but you nailed it. And I love all the angles and backgrounds!! You're a fantastic storyteller!
I have seem a lot of animatics of this song with Luz, but this have to be the BEST, you can see all her insecurities.

This is my one of my favourite songs, and around 5 days ago I binged watched all of the owl house. I am autistic and possibly have adhd, and the owl house made me feel like it was okay to be how I am, and i can be surrounded by all the right people if I just be myself, and it’s right. I made nee friends in my school that actually care about me. It was a pleasant surprise to find out someone had made an animatic of this song.
As the "odd" one/"weirdo" in my school who is also a closeted lesbian, i love this freaking song. Also this animation hits different now that the show is over. Crying. ;-;

This animation was done so well. The emotions were portrayed amazingly and you really captured Luz’s emotions and the fact that she has quite a lot of self-gate and self-doubt. I know the song is meant to be about sexuality but I can also really see it with neurodiversity too.

I love this show because it’s so cute and I have anxiety and I can relate to luz so much and I feel a lot of people can that’s why the show is so good but also the relationships in the story are so amazing and brilliant that’s why I love it so much. And every character really gets to be in the spotlight, whether it’s an entire episode about them or just a small moment this show brings it out and I love that I feel like this show really helped me with a lot of stuff and I love that this animation is the perfect song, and it’s adorable thank you for listening to me vent

Oh yes, yes, YES!! This was amazing, and you did a wonderful job. The song fits Luz so, so, so well and you captured all the reasons why in a beautiful way! I think the comment by Some Snails said it best, by explaining that you did manage to truly represent a side of Luz we don't really see explored often but is there. Visual-wise, well there's much I can gush on about that, but in short, it looked absolutely stunning and really put into perspective how Luz is as a character and how the song in general portrayed that.
I love that towards the end, everything is suddenly in color and more vibrant as see the people Luz has made connections with pass by, and see certain moments that played out in the show be highlighted in a gorgeous sequence. I think it shows how far she's come in growing as an individual and shows how her struggles and relationships have grown and evolved so much.
The part where she was going through and destroying the trees featuring her masking, and her insecurities really stood out to me, and was a powerful moment that was well done too!! On a final note, I can't believe that it's your first time drawing these characters, you did great work. Keep up what you're doing, it's looking amazing, remember to take care of yourself in the meantime, and that you're awesome and matter!!
Thank you so much!! I get really happy when people point out the stuff I tried representing in the animatic. I took Luz's perspective and kind of made it my own, incorporating everything and seeing how I could work with it, this song was a great opportunity for that, and I also tried making it relatable to those who watched it, since her situation is very relatable to me as well! I appreciate this kind of comment a lot.

This is such a beautiful rendition of this song! I especially like the part around the middle where she's just venting to King. That was a great way to do that part of the lyrics. And all the small references like Edric holding Bill Cipher and the thing with Gus 'Why humans aren't aliens'. Luz's expressions were also ON POINT throughout the video. You really captured all her emotions well.
I love the Lumity arc so so much but I do wish early Lumity focused in a bit more on this side of Luz. Like wouldn’t it be so cool if after enchanting grom fight we saw Luz at home upset that she called Amity a “friend” when they danced but knew she shouldn’t fall for her since she has to go home?
This fits perfectly with Luz's perspective and how she feels.
