I hear you everyday on the radio back at work In Portugal!
Ես ձեզ հավատում եմ❤💙💛🙏
Rosaaaaaaaaa!!!
Rosa Linn I love your songs it's very awesome and unique to listen thank you
SNAP!
The problem she has now is 99% of people who know SNAP don’t know her. Her label continue to rinse the song without developing her as an artist. They even stopped promoting her second single WDIA. Duncan Laurence has not had a successful song since Arcade. Maneskin are the ones with real fans who sell out arenas.
Duncan Laurence is at least still sucessful in The Netherlands
“One hit wonder” probably sums it all up.
You're basically saying that anyone who isnt as popular as Maneskin and doesnt sell out arenas isnt succesfull and doesnt have real fans. Duncan has released several songs after Arcade with millions of streams, he has a big fanbase and he still performs all over Europe. Its kinda sad that you disregard that just because he's not as big as Maneskin.
@@irisvdziel I’m sorry but you are dreaming. Duncan cancelled half his recent tour due to low ticket sales.
Songs go viral on TikTok - not the artists - and you can’t expect people to invest in an unknown artist after 1 song. The evidence grows every month that shows the TikTok generation does little to help an artist’s career long-term.
Their joint single “WDIA” should, on paper, have been a big hit but it was a flop. Their labels should be getting them in front of real people at every chance but they are not.
I mentioned Maneskin because the video did but it’s true that they do have a fanbase that support them and share their music.
Who did TikTok name as one of their breakthrough artists? Sam Ryder.
@@jess6064 the cancelled shows were due to personal obligations, but that wasnt my point. My point is why do you feel the need to talk down on artists while praising others? It’s not a competition. Yes some artists get bigger than others after eurovision but that doesnt mean that the others dont have true fanbases, support or success. That sounds really ignorant.
Rosa Linn is an example of a one hit TikTok wonder (up until now at least) and her collab with Duncan didnt get big. Duncan has had several other succesful songs after Arcade tho. But again there’s no need to compare. They’re both succesfull in their own way.
I just can't be quite reading so many negative comments about Rosa why people can't accept the fact that her single and voice are nice and she deserves this success yes maybe she became popular due to tik tok but it's doesn't mean her song is bad she deserves better place on esc but esc became political show for a long time and here is a fact that she is the one who will be joing the concert Ed Sheeran no one from esc history haven't this chance I'm writing this from Armenia small country where bron Rosa and here she just start her career as young talented singer and I'm so proud that she get this success, stop being jealous!!!

I don't think there's any sense in blaming this on politics. It was a genuine, fair win for Ukraine. You can't be mad at people for feeling deeply about people suffering under an attack. That's not politics, that's compassion and solidarity. Eurovision was created to bring together Europe after the second world war. And I don't think Ukraine would have won with a song like this years. Stefania was perfect for that moment in time.
I don't think she deserves any hate of course, but there are just too many factors in Eurovision that you have to take into account. She was popular among younger people during last year's contest, and the viewers are that much older. It wasn't for them and didn't hit hard enough on stage (although it was a great and unique stage performance of course). There were multiple entries that became a phenomenon before the show and took a lot of time and space in media coverage. Norway, UK, Serbia, Italy... Basically she competed aginst giants.
In no way does it mean it's a bad song, it's a good song by a promising artist. But it just didn't stand out enough. Getting to the final is a good job, and in the grand final there are only so many point from each country to give. She was fifth of the firts semi final, which is also a great result, higher than the fan favorite Norway! It's tough to qualify to the final, so 61 points in the final is a fine result. I mean look at France! That's just the name of the game. She's allowed to be disappointed and so are her fans, but realistically this wasn't her year, and the result was as fair as we get.
I really respect Rosa Linn’s openness about how she felt she deserved a better placement. Some people might call that arrogant, but she knows the song better than anyone, and was clearly super proud of it and had a feeling it deserved more than what it got. It’s not my favourite song from last years Eurovision, but I 100% agree. She has every right to say she wanted more for her song. So glad it blew up eventually 🇦🇲❤
I was surprised it didn’t place a little better - it was a lovely song and she gave an excellent performance. Glad she ended up with success in the end.
I'm from Chile and my students were blasting the song for all the second part of the year. They were surprised it came from the same song contest I showed them last year (yeah, I showed them the first places from Eurovision 2021 💖)
Also, I wanted to mention the song "Eres Tu" by Mocedades, which finished 2nd in 1973. That is one of the most popular songs in Latin America and, of course, Spain. We also didn't know it came from the contest, it just got popular by its own merit.
vamo latinoamericaaa
eres tú is one of the few Eurovision songs I've heard outside of esc and together with baila el chiki chiki are the only ones I've heard people in my environment listen to (eres tú by my parents, baila el chiki chiki by one of my teachers)
the other songs of Eurovision I heard outside of Eurovision are Rockefeller street, waterloo, volare, run away and hey mamma (only the saxophone parts) like I already mentioned eres tú plus baila el chiki chiki, arcade and snap
there's also artists and bands I knew outside of Eurovision like abba, Celine Dion, tatu, julio iglesias, Olivia newton-john, las ketchup, cascada, bonnie Tyler, darude and surprisingly enough tulia
The art snob in me hates the idea of my work being reduced to a meme. However the part that likes money doesn’t mind.
Snap was my favorite eurovision 2022 song every since it was released. It’s emotional, she has great vocals and great lyrics.
Rosa Linn is an excellent artist. Great stage presence as well.
This year it seems Alessaandra's Queen of Kings have gone viral on TikTok even before the contest... I wonder what kind of impact it could have in Liverpool? She won the televotes by a large amount in the National Final for Norway (also won with the juries). It will be facinating to watch!
On june 22nd it was the Esc fans that started sharing the song culmulatively… and the Non fans started sharing when they thought it was a new trend song, ironic
Duncan Laurence’s song did not go viral until 1 year after Eurovision.
This shows that the one who wins the gold medal is not always the one who will be the most famous.
I'd love to see you do a video on Käärijä's Cha cha cha from the Finnish selection this year. The song hasn't been chosen yet to represent Finland but is a strong favorite to win.
I really want to write a script about Cha Cha Cha right now but I know if I do I will curse the song and it'll lose the NF. But if it qualifies I can almost promise we'll dig into that one.
@@overthinkingit Fingers crossed! This channel is AWESOME by the way
@@overthinkingit the time has come
Date mentions also helped "Heat Waves" by Glass animals to stay that long in the charts. You should see their chart trejectory in the uk charts for that single song... And when there was a heat wave in the middle of June, that song rolled around once again to become popular again.
I love how so many videos on CZcams have an exaggerated, clickbaity title and underdeliver on the content itself, but Overthinking Eurovision puts out videos that are like "eh, I know all about that already" and then the video itself goes WAY deeper than you thought it would.
That's pretty much our mission statement!
Welcome back for another season! 😄 I do want to make a small correction though, as Eurovision is not ''free exposure''. It costs countries about a million euros to participate after all is said and done.
Subsidized exposure?!? One more reason for me to continue with my demands to Keep Eurovision Weird!
You missed the point where her very rich record label paid 100+ influencers to share her song.
Dadi Frey’s song went viral but he didn’t have the same resources as her to get it radio play.
I laughed soooooo hard at Hold Me Closer being the "Diva Showcase". OMG!!! Thanks for mentioning my winner!!!
I love that not even a week after ”maybe we’ll see more songs sneak in dates in their lyrics” we got Breaking my Heart from Denmark, mentioning September and obviously being a song made for radio and streaming.
Greece mentions August as well
Wow… as an Australian ‘Riptide’ is sooo old. It won the Triple J Hottest 100 back in 2013. America, you took your time finding that one!
I have no great explanation for why Riptide was charting in 2022, it's pretty fascinating.
Riptide is one of my music videos which I have to watch for Media. I hadn't heard it beforehand I don't think although I'm from the UK so idk why it did well in America in 2022.
It was all over American radio back in 2013 as well, it must have been a recent TikTok wave!
Nice to see you again for another exciting Eurovision season! 🌻
Rosa linn was my favorite 😢she has beautiful personality ❤️
Germany are using tiktok to pick one of their acts this year, which is a clever move 👌. Sam Ryder was a tiktok star before Eurovision & he's done pretty good too 😁
Clever move on paper, but everyone online seems to feel the TikTok songs are SO much weaker than the other songs competing. But Ikke Hüftgold is great and I don't care what anybody else says.
@@overthinkingit I think they're probably testing the water with the idea this year (just 1 act not all of them) ...and trying not to exclude the older demographics who don't have tiktok. 🤭
@elizabeth184 I get trying to split the difference. On the other hand: czcams.com/video/7BE4QcwX4dU/video.html
The "Mumford & Daughter" joke was so clever that I stood up from my chair and clapped.
Yay you're back! congrats on the marriage and here's to another year of overthinking
Also, I agree that TikTok is a game changer, but I'd be shocked (shocked!) if there haven't already been a significant number of Eurovision entrants who've been using the contest as free (ish) publicity for the longer game.
(Also also, I second just about every word regarding Night Court! Get your own nostalgia, Gen Z)
I've followed her on her journey since the music video dropped in March and to this day, she is my winner. I would have never expected her song to blow up this much but I'm so so sooo happy it did!!!
Love this song. Still listening. Thank you Rosa linnnnn❤❤
Amazing videos and quality! Makes me question whether I even need to bother to publish videos with my accent and amateur editing ;)
So happy to see people overanalyze stuff as much as me.
Hey Matt! So glad to see you're back so soon! I wasn't going to start checking for a while, so this is a wonderful surprise!
We missed you too, Amy!
Don't ever leave me again, please
Rosa Linn is legend ❤️🏆🇦🇲
Oh, hell yeah! Your Eurovision coverage is back!
Also, thanks for covering this topic! I try to sort of half-pay attention to current music to avoid turning into a prematurely little old grump whose music taste calcified when they were 25 and hasn't evolved since. In the course of doing that, I was puzzled to hear a song I already recognized popping up on the Top 100 charts.
Wow. I was about to ask when you are gonna kick off overthinking eurovision season - and there you are!
Rosa Linn❤❤❤
One would think that Rosa and Duncan collaboration would be a giant smash given the history of Snap and Arcade, but it turned out to be giant dud.
I laughed when her record label said her duet was with an “international star”. 😅
Great to have you back, Matt!
Love this! Please keep making more vids!
Rosa is a star! ❤
Fantastic opening, I was howling (congrats!) 😂
So so glad you’re back for this season. It’s absolutely all gonna be about TikTok now which I’m kinda sad about. I think the one thing we can rely on is that the Eastern European countries hopefully won’t be too bothered about that and still make some absolutely classic Eurovision bangers like Moldova did last year
I ♥ Overthinking It .......greetings from Hamburg, Germany to you guys.
I love Rosa leen and the song is wonderful
Oh boy. Here we go!
Yay, Myrtle's here 😊
@@trildi 👋lol Oh yes. I can't get enough of these guys.
@@MyrtleP Glad to hear it, I love them too, great sense of humour :)
I don't really care about Eurovision, I was just googling Rosa Linn cuz she's opening for Ed Sheeran and DAMN this video is super entertaining. You know its a good youtube channel when you can keep someones attention about something they aren't too interested in
Rosa Lin was my winner and still is ❤❤
Roza Linn realised new song Hallelujah ❤❤❤
i still hear snap almost daily on various popular hot AC radios in my region (centeal Europe)
I'm new to this channel. Came here when I tried to find out if the 'ugh' in Taya & Selina's "Who the hell is Edgar?" was a reference to the 'duh' from Billie Eilish' "Bad guy".
I love how much coverage Eurovision is starting to get in the USA. It a truly golden age in the time of modern Eurovision
So crazy to think her song got so popular, it was my winner last year!
Rosa Lin magnifique
She was one of my favorites in Eurovision last year, and it's amazing to see how far she's come. I just hope she's able to keep that success going like Maneskin has, instead of just being a Eurovision one-hit wonder
Snap was in my top 5 last year.
I guess Denmarks Reiley missed hit shot by only mentioning 'September' and not a specific date in "Breaking my heart".
Wow! I just rediscovered you guys. That's an excellent analysis. Congratulations!!!! ... also for getting married.
Thanks so much!
I'm surprised that Malik Harris placed eighth in streaming but got one of the last places in the Eurovision Song Contest 2022
Last songs are searched because people want to laugh at bad songs. Thing is Rockstars was decent song.
And what do you think about the fact that this Eurovision/Tiktok trend started after Tiktok became an official partner of Eurovision?
Congratulations you wedding why you didn’t invite us 💐💐
Riptide is so good, just as snap
Rosa linn😍
In 2009, I loved Home from Edward Sharpe & The Magnetic Zeros. I think it's natural for teens to pick up on a folksy/singer-songwriter song as they're defining their taste in music and TikTok helps that song of the moment gain traction. I'm too old to get nightcore though.
I deeply fear tiktokization of Eurovision. That slowly more and more songs with basic/pretty much no verses and chorus written for making faces to, silly dancing or filling your kids lunch box with chips and candy (cause Angel won't eat no bread or fruit).
it's already happening in music a lot.
I mean, you can say it's because Tik Tok is looking for different things, but the original was also a really well-written song that was hugely underrated in the first place. I didn't expect it to win, but I was shocked it placed so low.
A Eurovision song that did poorly in the contest going viral thanks to a Nightcore remix is not the first of its kind. Specifically looking at Rockefeller Street by Getter Jaani in 2011, where the nightcore remix went viral after a meme abouta guy playing popular rhythm game Osu! stopped playing at the chorus of the song and dances to the song with by repeatedly dabbing and his friend joining in.
I feel that there is too much hype for certain songs/artists and mainly ignorance or even explicit disgust for others. Influencial channels spread a certain opinion + ranking and tell the people what to think about this and that. Together with existing prejudices about countries the final result often just confirms them. All this does not say much about the quality of a song…
I think denmark will be 2023's snap. It even has September in its Lyrics. I see it go viral on Tiktok during that month
Nice try Ukraine, guess Armenia won!
Just sent the email, I can't wait to join your server! 😊
What about Sam Ryder's rise to fame, even singing in the Queen's Birthday Whatever Party?
We'll have more to say about him in a future video! Sam Ryder is about the only good thing that happened to the UK in the past year.
People like to criticise Sam when he’s done nothing to warrant it. I’d rather this person didn’t make a video about him.
@@overthinkingit Haha, you can bloody say that again 🤣
@@hmniam5827 How is it possible to criticize Sam, he's a big sweetie with the voice of an angel and the hair of Thor!
Talking about Nightcore, have you covered 'Rockefeller Street' yet?
We covered it back in 2011, my dude: www.overthinkingit.com/2011/05/11/eurovision-2011-semi-finals-2/2/

No it didn't. It won the Totally Irrelevant TikTok Fad award.
A Eurovision video mentionning Nightcore but not Rockfeller Street ? That must be a first. Also there's an Apollo nightcore video with 50M views
I just kept waiting for it to be mentioned! I used to have a friend who pretty much only listened to Nightcore versions of songs (ugh), and he used to blast Rockefeller Street all the time. I was floored when I got into ESC a couple years back and found out where it actually came from.
Snap is one of the best Eurovision songs of the last decade. I hardly buy any Eurovision songs but this one I did. It’s a very good song 👌
It's funny cause a few weeks ago I was watching Psyched, and the end credits sounded familiar. I was like..hey wait, that's from Eurovision! And indeed,it was Snap. So now i know how they got to be on an American TV series 😁
12:58 nice to see that cute tumbling Crystal Mic trophy. Personally I called it the Lys Assia Trophy.
Gina G was also nominated for a Grammy...
We missed that, absolutely would have mentioned it. Hard to believe the song finished 8th!
👏👏👏👍
Can I just say how weird and annoying it is when American tiktoks using the chorus write the lyrics as "you're stealing my heart" and put it on something cute like a clip of their kids or something with no regard to what the rest of the song is about :D
OMG it's so great to see the ONE PIECE moment haha :D
Finally someone mentioned One Piece in the comments! Garchu, @siviary13.
Queen of Kings by Alessandra, just sayin...
If it qualifies I have a whole riff on Percy Shelley ready to go.
I always listen to Linkin Park's "Valentine's Day" on Valentine's day😂😂
Now I wonder if Green Day streams see a spike every few September 30th.

Interesting video. Still, I believe Snap earned too much points in GF. This song is boring and generic (as a majority of tracks in UK and USA charts)
Oh really?))
It was literally in the bottom 5
It’s kind of sad that a cover of Måneskin was more popular than their original song that won Eurovision - I loved their winning song, but after a while thought I didn’t like Måneskin after hearing Beggin‘ too many times on the radio! 😅
ARMENIA 🇦🇲🇦🇲🇦🇲❤❤❤🇦🇲🇦🇲🇦🇲👍👍👍👍👍
Diva showcase... Lol considering that singer's voice is so limited. You should have gone with slo mo for that. Lol and congrats on the wedding. 😁
I think something like this is going to happen with Blanka's "Solo"
Envious people always score their own goal. Why don't you admit that people liked that song, that's why it has so many views. Do you slander as much as possible? You discredit yourself with your slander. Don't listen if you don't like it.
Where do you see, envy? The man is just telling his opinion. I am Armenian and I don't like this song.
when talking about nightcore you really shouldve mentioned how there's one eurovision that has previously become successful trough nightcore, it was rockefeller street aka estonia 2011
SOrry but it seems to me 1 hit wonder
We not need to give any attention to ESC22 because it was not the real Eurovision it was just a Festival of support for Ukraine and we knows tthe winner in advance. Lets just hope this year we will have the real ESC again
For what it's worth, Ukraine is nowhere near the top of the betting odds right now.
Tiktok made her one hit wonder. A pity, she had potential to become a good indie artist.
Pam Rabbit will win for sure TikTok Eurovision if she wins the Czech National Final. She might win anyway
I dont think so
