Great to see people getting into this almost 30 years later. Can't wait to see you play Fallout 2, that's where the real fun begins :D

Just bought and started this too a couple days ago. I think the show really made us want more haha. It blows my mind this game was made in 1997, and the amount of choice you have. funny watching you try to learn to play just like i did a couple days ago, without the giant 120 page manual the game came with back in 1997 theres... a lot to figure out lol.

Awesome! Yeah quite impressive for 1997. Thank god we have the internet to figure stuff out nowadays. :D

It's awesome how the Fallout TV show is currently getting so many people to try out the old Fallout games. Fallout is one of the games that had a strong impact on me during my youth. If you can get into it, they're damn good, but I could understand why so many people struggle with the classics, because the access to the game is not the easiest, especially if you are used to more up-to-date games.
It's kind of like the Souls games. If you're into being challenged really hard, these games are pure gold. But this is not a pleasure for everyone.
However, I see it that way that my feeling of happiness is much stronger when I master something challenging in contrast of finishing dozens of no-chalanging-tasks in a row.

Sadly I did not come into contact with fallout until fallout 4. But I grew up with Jagged Alliance and other turn-based games.

@@QualiTTV Don´t be sad about it. You have the oportunity to play it blind. An experience that is unrepeatable. I envy you!
Jagged Alliance is great too, btw.

As someone who's played a lot of Fallout, welcome to the fandom.
And since you've only seen the tv show so far. I just want to say the post-apocalyptic world of Fallout is not as bad as it is in the show. Yes there are barbarians, slavers and wars between extremist factions but there are also plenty of honest, decent, even noble people and entire communities out in the wastes.
The show just seems to be focusing on the worst aspects of this world so far.

The evil seems to be more interesting/appealing. ^^ Excited for the second season of the show but also for fallout games.

And why do you think people would be turned away by this? i dont understand why you list all of that as a quality

I love how everyone started playing fallout 1 meanwhile I am waiting for those fallout 2 playthroughs because that's where it gets whacky.
Also watching you putting charisma to 9 was painful I am glad someone convinced you to lower it for more points into INT because if I was there I would tell you to put it to like 4 or lower and I usually play talking builds.

Ive never had a high barter in this game. I didn't know you could just sell for higher and just swindle every trader lol

Here are some little hints about the game mechanics that just came to my mind watching your playthrough.(dont worry, no spoilers!)
You dont have to click on your weapon during combat to switch to aim-curser.
With right-clicking you can switch between movement-, examine-. and aim-cursers.
Aimed shots increases the chance landing a crit and can cause extra effects on the target just as knock them down/out for a while, e.g.
The harder the affected part of the body is to hit, the higher the chance of landing a critical hit.
Apart of just multiplying damage crits also have a chance to cripple that bodypart you´re aiming at
(crippled legs = lesser movement, blinded eyes = lower aiming-skills, etc...)
Every actionpoint not spend in combat direktly increases your amorclass until your next turn.
Important things to know about amorclass:
You have to distingush between amorclass (AC) , damage-threshhold (DT) and damage-resistance (DR).
AC only decreases the chance getting hit.
Then when getting hit the damage is reduced by the DT and than reduced a second time by the DR.
So if you save a few action points at the end of turn, it's less likely to get hit.
When opening your inventory during combat you can consum as many stims you want. That does not cost extra AP. (only 4 AP for accessing your inventory)
Not many hints, but may they be helpful.
    edit:
All essential information (carrying-weight,e.g.) can be found on your charakter-sheet and/or on your inventory-screen.
