Fantastic video. I just rebuilt the carb on my Echo SRM-210 and it worked like a charm. Thank you for posting this. I am a carpenter that works with lumber and metal. I never work on the internal combustion engine. The step by step guide works great. Thanks again

The early Echo SRM -210 series weed whackers were really good machines they used good Jap parts and most items were metal. Mine is 17 years old and runs like a champ with almost no heavy maint. The newer ones are cheap ,loaded with crappy Chinese parts and have way to much plastic ...oh well

I'm working on a SRM 210. Only will run when carb cleaner or gas is sprayed into the carb.
I've rebuilt the carb so I suspect the carb is just no good. How many turn on the high jet and low jet needle should there be.?

I have a 2007 ECHO SRM-215 that I bought new. According to ECHO this model does not exist. You can't bring anything up about it on ECHOs website and any and all Google searches come up empty handed. This is bad PR and someone dropped the ball.
I beg to differ.....I've owned it for 10 years, I have the original receipt and I'm looking at the model decal on the cover as I type this. One interesting note is that it came with a SRM-210 owners manual.
Mine still runs great, but I want to do a tuneup on it with a air filter, spark plug, fuel filter and new fuel tank grommet and fuel lines because they are starting to get a little rotten.
I also NOW own a 2017 ECHO SRM-225, 2017 STIHL FS-91R and 2017 STIHL FS-70R. I like what I like and wanted to make sure I have at least one that works for the rest of my life no matter what happens with future EPA decisions. All of these I recently purchased at different dealers on sale.
Usually when things go on sale there is a overstock of product or something is about to get discontinued and a revamped newer design will be coming out in the near future. I wasn't taking the chance while being left empty handed if my 2007 SRM-215 shits the bed in the near future. It is 10 years old after all. I have always ran premium 93 octane gas in it along with the ECHO Premium synthetic blend 2-stroke oil.
These last ones I just purchased I bought the STIHL fully synthetic Ultra 2-stroke oil. I'm not so sure I want to run fully synthetic for at least the first few tanks though. Old words of wisdom in the automotive industry was that the piston rings wouldn't fully bead in and seat if you did. I don't know how true that is today with modern small gas engines, but I feel it must be somewhat similar unless some drastic things have changed in the last 20 years or so.
Anyway, great how to video and it is was very informative!!
    Thanks!
    John

I just recently fixed an srm 210 that my brother gave to me after it quit running. I tore apart the carburetor and the needle to the meter wasnt seated right and the screw that holds it down was loose, I fixed it and it fired up after a couple tries. Then it acted like it wanted to die when I'd give it gas. There's a plastic plug over the high speed screw I had to take off to be able to adjust it. After I adjusted it, it runs like a brand new one.

    • @IFIXIT4U
      @IFIXIT4U  Před 4 lety

It is not a simple adjustment screw. It is more of a calibration for the carb to the engine.
If the engine was running fine when the unit was new. The screw is in the correct place.
Its not something I would recommend moving. Installing a repair kit will solve most problems.
      Thank you

Cleaned it, new kit, new fuel line kit, Good compression, good spark, fresh fuel, new fuel filter, Everything is perfect but it will still only run on full choke. I've had a few people tell me these carbs can get a passage stopped up making them useless. I even took out the hidden jet screw and made sure it was clean. what are your thoughts? Thanks
