We've done that since our honeymoon cruise when one of hubby's bags got left behind at the airport by the cruise line. We had booked air travel through the cruise line, so they had said that they would take care of the luggage transfer. We saw his suitcase sitting there by the luggage carousel with other bags that were going on the cruise with us, including my bag. We're from Phoenix and were cruising in Alaska for our honeymoon in June. Hubby just about froze for those first couple of days before his suitcase showed up since he started out in desert wear.

I went on my first solo cruise in early December. I thought I had everything taken care of, prepaid for as much as I possibly could. I made a list and checked it thrice. I flew to Houston, stayed at the hotel at the airport. I paid for cruise line airport transfers both ways. As I was checking in at the hotel I was asked "Will you be using the card on file?" All of the sudden it hit me like a ton of bricks. I did not transfer any credit cards from my every day wallet to my passport wallet. I had cash, but not a single card. "Yes please, I will be using that card." Pretty unnerving at first, but luckily I never needed to use a credit card at all during the cruise, or on the trip back home. I will never make that mistake again.

Now as to toothbrush - you may want to expand that one. Not everyone still has their natural chompers. Some of us elderly ones especially are "gummers". We need to bring the denture cup for soaking at night AND some of the denture cleaning solution! Oh, yeah, don't forget that denture adhesive if you use it. Many years ago, I forgot my hairbrush. I had long, thick, wavy/slightly curly hair. At the time this was not fashionable hair to have.
Everyone was pulling their hair straight. But, we didn't use hair irons, because they just fried your hair.
We used a big, round, natural bristle, hairbrushes; and a hair dryer. We had really strong biceps! Lol
The ship store did not sell hair brushes. No place on the ship sold hairbrushes!
I even tried to purchase one at the ships salon.....nope!😭😭😭đŸ‘čđŸ‘čđŸ‘č
I ended up paying the salon to dry my hair. I eventually, did find one in Grand Cayman, at a drugstore. It wasn't perfect, but it helped.
    Do Not Forget You Hairbrush!
This next one is only for the ladies......đŸ€đŸ€«đŸ€«TMI
I Had a Feminine surprise happen on a cruise one time as well, our feminine clocks get messed up on vacation, often!
All i could get was pads at the ship store. I was young and we all wore thongs. They were hip and new back then, at least we thought they were. Lol....So I didn't even have underwear that would work with pads! Ugh!
I ended up wearing my bathing suit bottoms until i was able to get what i needed in Cozumel.

Not on a cruise, but on land trips, but I’ve forgotten important things before and had to go out and buy. On one trip, I packed a makeup bag but left it in my bathroom at home. Didn’t realize it until I was unpacking at the hotel. I was in Las Vegas without a rental car, so it was a pain to get to a store to buy a few makeup essentials. The other time, I left the garment bag with my nice dress and heels hanging in my closet at home. I had reservations at a fine dining restaurant during the trip so I couldn’t get away with wearing shorts and a casual dress. I had to buy a new dress and shoes while on vacation which got a bit expensive.

Love this video... 3 things I forgot hair brush and hair tie with I borrowed from my grandmother who lives by the port. The last item was once I got on the cruise I realize I didn't bring a perfume or body spray. 🙃😁 Making a leaving checklist and checking it before you leave home is a great 💡 idea.

Great ideas as always Ilana. I am so pleased you are doing more videos. I keep a list of every item we will need and start packing a couple of weeks before we go. I then cross everything off as I go. I have another list for those last minute items (toiletries etc) for the last morning before we leave and it includes last minute household jobs as well. So far đŸ€ž I haven't forgotten anything but then, I am a serious overpacker!! đŸ€Ł

I love your videos, Ilana. Twice had med problems due to forgetting. I remembered to bring the meds both times. In one experience I just packed the small pill containers in a bag without paying attention to how much was in them. I didn’t know I was short on one med til a couple days later. I only went 2 days without it and health was ok, but it added a lot of stress. I now use a pill-minder to have the am and pm pills for each day in a compartment for a week. If it’s a longer cruise, I add those extra days.
I also bring an extra day of meds with me because once we had to stay overnight at a hotel after landing at our airport because of a winter storm. I had not brought extras because it was a 1 hour drive home. Long night! So double checking meds ( and remembering to pack them) before a cruise is vitally important!

California Linda shares great vlog Ilana, and I have had the pleasure đŸ€” of trying to find a hairbrush, and on another cruise a toothbrush while in port or as an essential pre-cruise activity. I quickly learned that Boots was not a shoe store, but a great friend traveling abroad. I also use the feature on my cell to LIST (labeled packing list, wish I had thought of, items never used or worn and immediate enter "must bring items" with a brief note as to the reason). My packing is done at least two weeks before traveling with the exception of makeupand formal wear, and I recheck one week before leaving. Using the cell list option you can physically check off each packed item.

My husband forgot his contacts. No problem! He got them from Sam's Club so we should be able to walk into any Walmart with an eye doctor and Sams's should be able to send over the prescription information. Whups! Not so easy! His prescription was 3 days out of date. Legally Sam's could not transfer the information. Now he has to get a whole new eye exam, that morning, before we were supposed to board. We manages to get to the ship with about 20 minutes to spare.

I’m really good at packing for a trip (because I pack ahead of time) and really terrible for packing for work. Since I work in a pool I’ve often forgotten underwear 😜. I’ve also forgotten to pack a tshirt or a jumper. One time I forgot to pack jeans or track pants. I’ve forgotten my towel on numerous occasions and one unfortunate time a few weeks ago when it was quite cold and rainy - I forgot to pack street clothes altogether and had to go home in wet bathers and a towel.
