I'm 100% for having pads, especially when learning new tricks. I have no shame when i use them and so far, nobody has made fun of me when i do. Honestly, i wouldn't care if they did. Great video. Great review.

When kids take slams they recover quickly and their parents pay for the medical bills. When us older dudes takes slams or get injured we're paying all the medical bills/deductibles and dealing with taking time off work for PT etc. Same here man I could care less if they shamed me.

Thanks JB... I was going to spend less on pads but after hearing people's comments on a bunch of videos I realized that the cost of really good safety gear would very likely still cost less than any injury to a knee elbow wrist or head..either in dollars or pain! 187's seem to have a great reputation so that's what I got.. Since I haven't skated in years I feel they're going to give me a lot more confidence learning again and trying new stuff... Cheers brother!...

This was awesome mix up of content! I really enjoyed this. Thanks for pointing out the derby differences! Makes sense killer pads for those quad skate girls I see ripping bowls. Old Bones Therapy!!! THE BEST! I just did a video about my safety gear after my first year of skating. Protection is an important thing to me. I have been really learning from your skate lessons no doubt. I l one the formula you use for them too! This was a cool something little different and fun!

187 custom pro knees with Super foam are the best. Custom made for my knee brace and super foam is way better than the standard foam. 2x the cost but worth it. Also the owner and the pad maker really helped dial them in for me. They went above and beyond.
I also ended up putting a protective layer of shoe goo on the bottom part of the pad since I seem to focus my slides there at the end. Canvas just can’t hold up. Not a knock on the pads at all.

Thanks for the discount code for the old bones sleeves, saved $$ shipping to NZ. My old 187s, I used to put in the washer with gentle soap powder. Maybe the detergent broke down the neoprene.. maybe old age and sun. My new set of pads I'm treating like a wetsuit and trying good old salt instead of laundry powder. I think it will work. 🤔

I'm an old guy just learning to ride an electric skateboard and used the tripple8 brand pads, which looked ok. I fell on the pavement with enough forward speed to slide the elbow pads up, exposing my elbow and forearm to pavement. I lost a lot of skin and damn did it hurt! I'm now thinking about beefy motocross pads, which looks like riot gear armor...

With me being so old, fat, and out of shape, I definitely did not want to skimp on my knee pads. I had it narrowed down to either these or the S1 Pros. I went with the S1's simply because I already had an S1 helmet. I think I would have been just as happy with these had I gone with them.

Here's a good recipe... I call it "All meat bbq sauce Asian noodle" basically we got like fine diced beetroot and turnip stir fried until softened then add in the wok seafood marinara and finely diced chicken, cook that until almost cooked all the way through but not totally cooked then add diced herbs like fresh coriander, I'm adding some slow cooked beaf and bean stew and a bit of bacon, and like almost half a squirt bottle of bbq sauce and some sweet chilli sauce and minced fresh mushrooms and then like a whole big bunch of snow peas and just let the sauce thicken up after also adding some extra thick wok noodles.... Also I got snizzle and mayo wid greens n some Doritos plus Rock Mellon and blackberry pan cakes with cacao and linseeds and organic Apples!!!!

I bought some fly knee pads, am very satisfied with them, they protect my knees very well!
however, they dont have the open back design, so they are a pain to get on in the winter.
for the cold months I also bought the TSG all ground, which are slightly less protective on the sides and do not sit as tight, but have the open back design, so they are much easier to put on.
and they are also very good, I cant complain at all.
both of them are around 50€ which isnt too expensive.
now of course in retrospect I couldve also spent 100€ on the pro variant with the open back, but first I didnt account for that at first and secondly, even good pads will wear down at some point and having another pair will come in very handy I think.

@Diddy Melone Could I recommend that when you pull on your knee pads, pull them over the foot with the soft elastic back facing UP towards your face and the hard plastic shield facing DOWN towards the heel. In this position, continue to pull the knee pad over the ankle and the calf, then swivel the pad around at the knee so the shield faces UP in the correct alignment. Easy peasey to pull up! When I sit, I turn my knee pads around, slide them down so the shield cups my calves, and that way I can sit cross legged on my deck. I hope this helps. Cheers!

I paired on 29" 2.25 wheels on a nice new 9 speed with Microshift advent gears working GREAT that has a 11- 42 tooth wide range trigger shift casset THEN added by ME armour sheilded epic "SHWABELLE BIG BEN MARATHON PLUS" TIRES, there super smooth like a skateboard wheel when pumped nice and solid "FREEDOM TO RIDE THORN PROOF TUBES" YA GOTTA try it ay it has ultimate glide with the shocks full locked AND it goes nice and easy up hills with a duel shock seat BUT not too fast for a simple safe stand up stomp but the tires being the smooth armoured BIG BEN PLUS with the epic triangle pattern including the extra thick freedom to ride thorn proof tube make for a smoother ultimate glide bike ride with added puncture protection... BUT my bike mechanic insisted with that setup being the ultimate amazing urban tires and tubes DONT USE ANY SLIME OR TANNUS ARMOUR you don't need it and that's great for urban strolling as I be going way longer per each pedal on flat since the tires are so smooth and hard!!!!! I love it ay it's so relaxing!

JB, When you buy Old Bones Therapy knee braces.
Do you buy your size according to their size chart or do you size down for more compression and a better or tighter fit?

@@SkateparkLessons Yeah, I was asking because some reviews said when they used their size chart to buy, it was big, loose, or they should have sized down.
