    I appreciate the review, but--no offence, this is just well-intentioned (hopefully) constructive criticism--as someone who's on the fence between G-forms and Ennuis, you didn't provide much information that was useful to me: only that that Ennuis offer more lateral protection and have a kevlar version. Nothing about comfort when wearing them, the differences in the technology used, whether the Ennui of the G-form's is more breathable or which silicone works best for keeping the knee pads in place, etc.
    My suggestion (well-intentioned, once again) is to do a bit more research before postig a review. I hope you don't take this the wrong way :)
    BTW, I liked the beard! Looks good and offers extra protection for your face ;) (although that moustache might act as a spring if you fall on your side hehe) ;)

      I have the Gform knee pads which i ordered online. after wearing them once, i dont like them. they move too much and at times, expose my knee. further more, there is not enough protection. the sides of my knee are still exposed and times i have fallen over, it still hurts. I am yet to find any knee pads that aren't too bulky, but still offer adequate protection.

      @@Mar-G_ no I haven't sorry. There are no local stores that sell these types of pads and I am reluctant to drop money again on sub-par products without trying them. If you ever get onto something that works for you, I'd like you to tag me and let me know. Cheers.

      I agree 💯… I’ve been watching extensive videos and reading reviews and the consensus is that these don’t stay in place and a lot have complained about the stitching not holding up. For the price and protection I probably won’t take the chance. I really want to like these but for the price it’s not worth it for me. I’m looking for tailbone protection and G-form does make a compression short that I’m wondering if it’s worth trying. My skill level at this point is almost demanding quality tailbone protection. The triple 8 bum savers are bulky I don’t need the thigh padding because I don’t skate aggressively, but at this point I might have to try them as the only viable option. They make a slimmer model but just for women’s roller derby. That’s pretty much all I need is protection for my tailbone but I don’t mind the hip protection as long as it’s not too bulky.

  • @Johro66
    @Johro66 Před 5 lety +6

    Okay, I was travelling pretty fast on my FR1 310's and hit a patch of road where someone seemed to have scattered a handful of rocks, pebbles, whatever, brought me down fairly quick, wrists and knees got most of it, I always wear wrist pads, and I was wearing the G-form knee pads under my jeans, which I have to say protected my knees really well. Now, I didn't really slide much, but I did notice my right knee pad had moved around a bit on my knee, so, fair point, in a slide, they will move some.
    The Ennui Pro would be a very good buy, the kevlar extra, slidey layer being the selling point, also the bigger protective area, my G-forms don't protect as much of my knee. However, G-forms are very comfortable, enough so that you forget you have them on. So, I like my G-forms, but if I'm ever considering buying new pads, I would definitely try the Ennui Pro. For me the choice would be about how comfortable they are while skating and how they fit under my jeans. If I wore shorts, which I don't really, the Ennui Pro would be a better choice. Thanks for the info Lino

    Thanks for your comparison Ricardo. I have used the G-form for a while (I already had them when I watched your vid) and yesterday I fell om my knee. I'll share what happened. On the fall it partially protected my knee because of less protective material (in comparison to the ennui), so I ended up with some scratch wounds. The knee pad itself was wasted: the protective material completely was torn off from the sleeve it was stitched on, so I can throw them away. So, you could say they are a bit expensive if you have to replace them after every fall. I've read this in other reviews as well. From your comparison it is clear to me that the ennui (the kevlar pro version) would have protected my fall much better, so I will buy those ones. Thanks!

    I ride a OneWheel and i've taken multiple hard falls at slow speeds and at 20mph and the G-Forms have protected me 100% every single time. I cannot praise them enough. The same can't be said for knockoff pads... My wife was using the Triple 8 Exoskin pads and they would slide off her elbow/knees every single freaking time she fell. Another good thing is that you barely notice you're even wearing pads with the G-Forms and i'm 220 lbs.

    The ennui pro pads are great, except one annoying detail - sizing. I don't know how they measure them in production, but me being a 183cm high, 79kg European male, I have the L/XL fit very tight, to the point when it feel uncomfortable at times. I do not have any excessive weight. They need to make bigger sizes of these. I really like the lightweight design of the pads, so this strange sizing has pushed me towards research on G-forms and similar pads

    • @Apollo440
      @Apollo440 Před 4 lety

      I am of a bigger height than you and weight more, and have measured the L/XL in a shop and it seems that they fit only on a bare knee and require some setting in. So no option to wear them on clothing (unless there is a kind of clothing material which combines well with the material these kneepads are made of). I would really like to have them but the weather conditions don't allow me to wear shorts most of the year, so I had to go with plastic kneepads which strap on with velcro belts.

    Knee pads must not be grippy, traditional knee pads and other pads with plastic shell outside and foam on the inside just work well, they slide and absorb impact by distributing it through the shell's full structure into the foam and you get an evened out and lesser impact force into your joint. Not going to call this a gimmick, but it would have been nice to see some actual knee slides .

    You should compare ennui with G Form SKATE knee protectors not with the G Form for cycling. This comparison isn't fair.

    I wish i saw this before buying the gform pads. the gform i think is too small, and they move around, and they feel like the materials are really cheap and poor quality.

    Put a glass bottle in the Gpad and a regular protection pad and slightly smash with hammer or anything you have. What will happen with a bottle will be your knee when you fall. You will be impressed by how inferior Gpad is.
    If you are a beginner and don't knw how to fall don't by such kind of pads!
