    Here's my review of the Blu Breeze personal air conditioning unit. I've compared it to the new Arctic Air.
    About Arctic Air Arctic Air is an evaporative air cooler that allows you to create your own personal climate. The whisper-quiet fan and soothing night light make it perfect to use throughout the night for a comfortable sleep. The built-in LED mood light can be set to any of its 7 color option, set to color-cycle mode or turned off with the touch of a button. Running other air conditioners all day long can cost a lot of money and take up so much space. Some of them even have to vent out a window, making it very inconvenient. Arctic Air sleek compact design fits nicely on your desk, nightstand or coffee table - wherever you need it! It’s great for dens, reading nooks, work, dorm rooms, offices, home offices, campers, work spaces, benches, basements, garages and more.
    It’s lightweight & even convenient for travel! Great for outdoors too. And it’s not just safe to use but energy efficient. This personal space air cooler actually cools the air around you, where you need it most, while using the size and power consumption of a small fan.
    What Arctic Air Claims:
    - Personal Space Cooler that Lets You Create Your Own Personal Comfort Zone
    - Cools, Humidifies, and Purifies for Better Air!
    - Easy-Fill Water Tank Lasts Up to 8 Hours! Freon Free, Energy Efficient & Eco-friendly
    - Compact & Powerful & Ultra-Quiet Operation
    - Built-In LED Mood Light - 7 Different Colors with Color-Cycle Option!

    I agree with you on the water leak. BTW, a swamp cooler is the old fashioned AC in the South; blowing a box fan over melting ice in a pan. Hella dangerous but it was air conditioning before there was air conditioning. Thank you for testing these!

    Picked up the Citus Portable Mini Air Condition from Amazon. It was $39.87 and it doesn't have filters, you just pop open the tank in the back and fill it about half way with water. It has a normal 12 vdc input with a plug (not USB or battery powered). Used it for the last three days pretty much all day. Water lasts about 3 to 4 hours before you have to refill it and I have put in ice as well as water. The fan seems quieter than the fans in your videos and it is cook to watch the water vapor shoot out while it is running. Doesn't cool a whole room but it does a decent job just sitting next to me while I work on the computer. I had a large cheap Desk fan I was using and this fan seems to be more powerful even though it is smaller. I thought it was worth the $$$ for what I needed it to do.

    Swamp cooler, as I understand it, means that it cools things off by causing water to turn into water vapor or steam using the ambient heat of an area, thus making the area cooler. This kind of cooler is pretty useless when the humidity is high though.
    If you want to keep the portable AC reviews going, you can try the Zero Breeze.

    Having one of these units and one that I built myself (for cooling a larger room) I used them during hurricane season last year when we did not have power they did tend to work to keep the rooms cooler especially when it was in the mid 90's here in Florida. The small unit was good to have in front of you as a personal cooler, and it did seem to help me with the heat. It did not cool the room, nor did I expect it too. The larger (swamp cooler) unit that I made worked a lot better for cooling the room. I converted an old box fan to run on a 12V motor and used it was a 12V water pump to supply the water to the unit to circulate over the filter.

    • @josephdadey
      @josephdadey Před 6 lety +5

      I had a huge one of these that cooled my house in Tucson. The key to their working is that the air needs to be dry. This won't cool the air one bit, if the humidity is above a certain level. The principle is solid (if you're in a hot, dry place) however the execution of both of these products is a bit questionable.

      Kenneth/Debbie Davis I’m glad I saw this comment. I was going to get one of these but, I live in Louisiana. Why do the call them swamp coolers though? A swamp is hot and very humid.

    • @kennethdebbiedavis865
      @kennethdebbiedavis865 Před 5 lety +3

      Kyrunya i think its because they use water to “cool” the air. The moisture cools your skin. BUT it you are in a humid area they will not work because there is already too much moisture in the air.

    • @kathleenmoritz108
      @kathleenmoritz108 Před 6 lety +3

      Jay Adams yes, an evaporative cooler or swamp cooler or this little cooler would work better with lower humidity. The problem with using them in high humidity is that the air can only hold onto so much moisture, once it does then the cooling effect will no longer work. In Vivian's case there was too much humidity to have any cool air. As you saw the humidity level went up to 50 but the temp stayed at 81. At that point your just going to feel hot & sticky. The best way to test this theory is to have a glass of ice water on the table. If the glass sweats then you'll know that the air can't take anymore moisture.
      Sorry for going on.
      I live in southern California and only have a evaporative cooler {swamp cooler}. It works great most of the time.

      @madmax2069 Před 5 lety

      I know with my Arctic Air at 70% humidity the output air will be at least 12f degrees cooler than room temp which is around 90F degrees.
      Of course with lower humidity the output air will be cooler (I've seen around a mid 20F degree difference from room temp air.
      That Blu breeze is not as good as the Arctic Air, it pushes less air, the filter isn't as big, the more air it pushes it'll cool better, the bigger the filter is it'll cool better.

I removed the DC fan...already ordered a higher end low noise PC fan which should help...granted that's another $10 added but it's going to be nice to have my son in a TX summer camp have this...integrated timer is a battery saver

      Yarn addict aka K lo Swamp coolers (i.e. evaporation coolers) create a cool feeling by letting the water evaporate into the air. These devices work best with hot dry air that is starving for water. Think Arizona or New Mexico. Haiti is a very humid country. This thing won't work well (or at all) in Haiti. Sorry.

    • @DarkestDeeds
      @DarkestDeeds Před 6 lety +2

      Yeah, don't bother taking one to Haiti with you. The humidity will make this not work at all. You're going to want a fan instead to help your own personal evaporative cooling (called sweating.) And lots of water.

      +Jeremiah, what? Air conditioner uses the outside air which cleans it and gives off cold air? Air conditioners are much like the way your refrigerators or water fountains work, to keep the food cold or provide cold water, with the use of a condenser and refrigerants to produce cold air.
      "When hot air flows over the cold, low-pressure evaporator coils, the refrigerant inside absorbs heat as it changes from a liquid to a gaseous state. To keep cooling efficiently, the air conditioner has to convert the refrigerant gas back to a liquid again. To do that, a compressor puts the gas under high pressure, a process that creates unwanted heat. All the extra heat created by compressing the gas is then evacuated to the outdoors with the help of a second set of coils called condenser coils, and a second fan. As the gas cools, it changes back to a liquid, and the process starts all over again. Think of it as an endless, elegant cycle: liquid refrigerant, phase conversion to a gas/ heat absorption, compression and phase transition back to a liquid again."

    ok vivian, here is a simple explanation so you understand. Fill up a glass with water. Now tilt it to look at the bottom of the glass. What happens? Yes it pours water out. You put water into a small open container inside the unit, just like the glass. If you tilt it, its going to pour out.
    For the filter. the first one was a sponge filter, the filter in the second one was not a sponge,

    • @xDoomsdayx
      @xDoomsdayx Před 6 lety +5

      geddo tech most swamp cooler big or small are not designed to be moved once you start them. You have a sponge that sits in water and soaks it up. The fan then blows air into the sponge and the cool air comes out the other side. It would be near impossible to design a closed system that wouldn't leak for a swamp cooler if it was titled like that. This isn't an actual air conditioning unit, it's a swamp cooler.

      Sahifa Haider the battery chamber is designed for simplistic build. There are integral holes for wiring. Low voltage, low amperage...no harm.
      The leaks are a by-product of moving when full...
      Will it matter? In terms of safety, no, not when using DC. However, the table or whatever it is setting upon, will suffer.
